They lucked out too. In the Office Ladies podcast, they talk about how grateful they were to finally have a stable job after all those years of insecurity
i really liked it, though in a way i feel like it was one of the worst cold opens. though it was hilarious and fun to watch, i felt like it highlighted the lowest point of the office while michael was still in the show. shows often try to incorporate more dancing/singing scenes when they start running out of ideas, and this is very apparent in season 7 of the office, as aside from the lip dub, there was also andy's play and the duelling bands. any cast can sing and dance do slap stick comedy, but what makes the office so great is that its writing and acting is so good that it doesn't have to rely on that kind of comedy to make the show funny. what makes the office so great is that it's funny because of its awkward pauses, its blend of both outrageous characters and completely normal ones, and the fact that despite its craziness it has a distinct sense of realisticity to it, making the lip dub the complete opposite of everything the office is funny for. despite all that, it was still hilarious to watch.
I’m more surprised that Kevin knew that satchel was a 7 letter word off the top of his head than the fact that Stanley didn’t notice that he was impersonating Phillis.
