Very good work. You taught me more about this bird than national geographic on any day.

I have a pair in my back yard hollowing out a new hole in the trunk of a willow tree. Fascinating to watch.

6:14: That was the chick that eat the Praying Mantis...the remaining chick refuse the mantis and has lived to fly another day. Great video content for an amateur (and I mean this in the most respectful manner, as opposed to a professional) doco maker. I have been in the film & TV business for 35 years and have worked on wildlife docos in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The producers actually built and enclosed a large part of the bush and then caught a couple of Pels Fishing Owls (which are very rare) and then filmed them building their nest. The birds were fed daily and to the untrained eye, the end result looked as if it were filming in the wild...much like your trick with the mud wasp nest. We employed many trick to get in an film before the days of GoPros and miniature & heat sensing cameras. But you should be immensely proud of what you have produced. Hats of to you mate.

Great bird. In WA they are as welcome as any East Coaster. Just like Scott Morrison. Whooooaaaasrrgghaaah, they appear at the same bbq spots, wait till the tourists cook their sausages, then swoop in to take their prey. Opportunistic.

That was very interesting to watch. I'm Aussie but didn't know about the 3 eggs at varied times, nor how to tell the sexes.
So they're termite nests, ay. Never knew 'em to be up in the trees.
You've taught me stuff David Attenborough hasn't. Well done.

Thank you for a very interesting report on the Kookaburra. Love your back yard. I’m not sure if there are Kookaburras at the Sacramento Zoo in California! Only recently learned about these fascinating birds. Their laughing sounds always puts a smile on my face. Blessings to you Sir and your family. TY for caring and sharing!🤗

Really nicely done. Enjoyed this. Been fascinated by kookaburras for a while and pleased to see the family cycle here and your commentary on events. Good show getting the fledge! Thanks from U.S.

I've got a funny little one here I think it must migrate but comes back every year and like to chat and tells me to drink beer. These little guys love meat a scavenger one would assume. Thanks mate from Chiang Rai.👍

Thank you for the great film documentary from your backyard. These birds are definitely interesting compared to my local birds in Central Calif. I think one kookaburra calling is cute, but an entire family would be crazy. Do they call all day, just in the morning, or no reason at all? Their call should make roosters embarrassed 😳 Thanks again

Have you heard a laughing chicken? Yep, it's a breed of chicken that has been bred to sound like it's laughing. There are chickens that have been bred to crow for a very long time. They are called long crowers. I think they are on the same level as these birds in this doco
