the reporters both clearly not undestand SA economy but bias with no knowlegde showing their hate towards SA saying we produce coal nobody needs i mean all the ships in the port from europe SA economy is more enabling and fertile i mean it more advanced with infratruture in place which will take nigeria many years to catch up , the only thing nigeria has its population hance the flow of money will be more but worthless. yes SA is economy is still in minority but since the ANC take over we have seen huge rise of black middle class than any other country in AFRICA which still lagS behind with 24 years so an average south african lives a high starndard of life than any African,

As a South African I find it sad that Nigeria compares itself to South Africa. Its Population is four times our population, that alone is enough market to grow the economy. If Nigeria can increase its middle class to 50% they will generate enough revenue to fund their infrastructure developments. Nigeria has enough natural resources to power its economy. I mean they are the biggest producer of oil in the continent we don't have that. If the country harness its resources, they will compete with bigger developing economies. The problem that is queitessenetialy African is of course corruption and dearth of leadership. As an outsider my observation is that Nigeria still has tribal issues ( I stand to be corrected). A bigger Nigeria will be a boon to Africa as a whole. Imagine if as a leader of Ecowas, Nigeria work and finalise the regional common currency. Naira losing its value will not be as impactful as is now. But your leader seems to work for other people other Africa and Nigeria. Can I ask what happened to the discussion on the regional common currency, eco?

    90% owned by 10% is a lie.
South Africa is said to be overtaking Nigeria as number 1 country in Africa by IMF and World Bank. This woman is clueless. Mining has been declining in South Africa even though strong commodities have been doing well. Gold, Platinum (largest producer in the world), Manganese, Chrome, Coal and many minerals,
The growth in South African economy has been in the new 21st century economy, (knowledge economy) construction and infrastructure development.
Tourism also is a big player. South African economy cannot be declining if by world standards it is about to surpass Nigeria. Come one. We have not been in recession for ages. There are issues with political leadership, corruption and influx of immigrants causing serious problems but we will deal with this systematically.
To say South Africa has been declining is a 100% lie from a misinformed uneducated analyst who couldnt even pick google to research simple indicators to support her statement. It's embarrassing.
We are in a property boom, construction boom, AI boom, 4IR boom, Renewable Energies Boom, Reimagine urban renewal and mixed use property development, research and development making huge strides.
Journalism NIGERIA 🇳🇬 please dont embarrass your country. When you need real information about South Africa ask real educated South Africans, infact we have plenty of Nigerian senior economists and financial analysts working and living here in South Africa. Ask them. They will tell you. Not some weak girl who cant even research to back her supposed professional opinion.

They shop here, have mansions, yachts and cars we all dream of. The lady is clearly either bias or just plain clueless in this case, you can feel it in her voice with the uncertainty.

Dear Amaka Anku, how do you expect the Nigerian government to collect additional revenue when 60% of the GDP is generated from the informal sector of the economy. Even within the formal sector of the economy there is a challenge of revenue collection as I consider Nigerian society among the worst tax dodgers in Africa. You further go on to compare Nigeria to South Africa, I don't understand this obsession Nigeria has with South Africa because there is nothing common between these 2 countries except that itheir inhabitants are mainly black Africans.
You go further to say that South Africa's challenge is in that 90% of the wealth of the country is sitting with only 10% of the population, which is correct. However, I don't see how Nigeria is in a better position because we all know by now that the wealth of Nigeria sists with a small upper percentile while poverty wreaks havoc among the masses. Such poverty is so severe that the children of Nigeria are scattered all over the world while some perish trying to cross the Atlantic ocean in search of "greener pastures" and others are languishing on death row in foreign prisons.
Having listened to your full commentary, you strike me as a good economics analyst until obsession over South Africa got the better of you.

90% of South Africa's wealth is owned by the government. Sorry you are mistaken my brother. What you are saying can only happen if our president is white. The government makes way more money than the white minority. The governments gain from foreign investors, trading with other countries, The abundance of natural resources 14 natural resources South Africa has, hosting major events like the 2010 world Cup etc the list goes on countless ways our government use to generate money in our economy. So this thing of that South Africa's economy is owned by white people is 100% a lie. Also search on Google about South Africa's taxi business that is owned by 98% black people, search how much money they make every year, your eyes will be open that there are alot of black millionaires in South Africa than white millionares. Last thing search South African forex traders lifestyle so you can see young under 25 years black millionaires all that will make you see that there are more black millionaires. BEE's are also extremely rich black South Africans.
