Bobbing in the southern French port of Sanary-sur-Mer are a colourful collection of little fishing boats known as "sharp boats". Over in Marseille, they’re known as "barquettes". However you choose to call them, they're a nod to the heritage of the region. Plenty of local enthusiasts undertake a labour of love to restore them, using ancient techniques to preserve these beautiful vessels.

IN SETE WHEN I FIRST VISITED ;THIS WAS A SIDE OF LIFE I NEVER KNEW EXISTED; A CROWD WOULD GO OUT TO THE OYSTER BEDS IN ONE OF THOSE BOATS . AND THERE WITH ROSE WINE ,OYSTERS STRAIGHT FROM THE SEA . A DELIGHT, I LIVED THERE 40YR'S.
But the sails are more for show then used by the current owner.
Wrong. They are used when there is wind.
Vierotchka Yeah,....i believe it when i see it.
Je l'ai souvent vù - en fait, je l'ai vù chaque fois que je suis allée à Marseille. Ce sont des voiles latines qui s'accommodent fort bien au Mistral.
