Thank you for reacting to Dream Theater! They have been one of my favorite prog-metal bands since I first heard "Pull Me Under" on the radio. They seamlessly can transition from the melodic to the metallic, and back again. I would recommend "Under a Glass Moon" and "Metropolis" from this album as well. The follow-up album "Awake" has a couple of great tracks,"Caught in a Web" got a lot of radio airplay, as did "Lie". 15 studio albums and still counting! Lots of great music for you to dive into! Great band!

Dream Theater is a great band, with probably the best keyboardist currently, Jordan Rudess; although sometimes the band seems too interested in showing off the virtuosity of its members, as Steve Howe, who, by the way, has collaborated with them on several occasions, has said.
You hit the nail on the head. This song had heavy rotation on MTV. Are you open to listening to long songs, because their songs are over 10 minutes long. If so, I would suggest the song Octavarium which is considered their magnum opus. 23 minutes long or the Count of Tuscany 20 min long. But definitely do a deep dive into this band
Like Adrian, I had heard the name, but I was not familiar with their music, although I may have heard a song on the radio by them and thought it was an unknown STYX track, with a guest appearance by Neil Schon! Great listen!

Gentlemen it’s never too late to be introduced to Dream Theater. To me, they are Rush on steroids, . Great 7:59 musicianship with a metal edge. This song is a little milder than most of their catalog. I would recommend checking out Pull Me Under from this same album as a more representative sounding song.
