derek absolutely killed it!! can't believe how good he sounds now compared to two years ago when I really thought his voice was fucked up forever! greatest guys ever
His voice is still forever fucked lol. If you listen closely, he's still getting voice cracks. Its like once you get a scar, it's there for life even if it heals.
@@unicornhue I heard the cracks clearly, yeah. But if you compare this live show to the clips of 1 or 2 years ago, there's an abyss in between. I'm pretty optimistic he will fully recover it in another 2 years. It was so bad that the cracked voice even affected the recorderd studio vocals of the kings of the new age album.. he now can do the typical raspy voice he was used to
@@unicornhueHis voice sounds SIGNIFICANTLY better then it did a few years ago, it was god awful from like 2020-2023. Even though he still cracks i still think it sounds good, he can't quite do the grit like he used to, but everything else sounds great imo

Don't get me wrong, Derek is still killing it, but his voice is just different now.. It sounds much higher now, less flexibility to it, and it seems like he has less stamina than he used to.
LIVING PROOF days was definitely his vocal peak, he sounds so different and in control there. Comparing to his next album KOTNA; he sounded so different, its like they've changed the lead vocalist!

Yeah, but I always had the impression that he was singing way too high to the point that is difficult to maintain over time. The way he is singing now is probably healthier for him long term!
@@bsmayerr i remember hearing he had to relearn how to sing entirely so it wouldn't damage his voice long term
Unfortunately, he suffered vocal injury somewhere in 2019 and he hasn't sounded the same since. That being said, I do miss his aggressive singing.
Get a second goddamn guitar player, come on. Backing tracks are only acceptable in emergency situations, like if your second guitar has to leave tour unexpectedly
