2018 was the turning point for dubstep where heavier styles started to take over and dethrone brostep as the leading subgenre for like half a decade at that point, this ep is one of the most important in dubstep of the 2010s for that exact reason. behemoth dropping was a symbol that the grimey riddim inspired sound could dominate the mainstream dubstep airwaves from there onward
7:15 just for those who don't know, the character in the Rise video is Ubik. He's a demon from Berserk. Svdden Death is a big fan of Berserk, so that's why a lot of the visuals in the first Voyd EP have Berserk visuals
1:39 As an owner of the hoodie shown, I can confirm that it is very comfy and overall a very nice hoodie. Definitely a good buy for those who want merch
Seeing what you said about expecting it to be pure dark evil stuff it actually sorta makes sense now that I think about it. Voyd 1 and 1.5 are a little unfocused feeling but by vol. 2 he really was able to hone in on the evil sound of Voyd.
Break It Down literally has the Berserk orb thing as the visual (idk what it's actually called xd) That was really what helped me realize the inspiration
Needless to say I think VOYD was a turnaround for the heavier riddim and dubstep side of things. It just got more detailed and a lot of niche acts popped up - especially with the live presence of the act.
i think the lil guy from the Rise visual is the Berserk character Conrad from the God Hand. Also, weirdly enough my fav when it came out was Gates of Hell, and I probably enjoyed it the least now but the one I enjoyed most now was def the Samplifire collab.
You have a good point tbh, there is definitely a lot of unappreciated value in those older tracks. It's also quite refreshing to hear these older releases again, since many of the trends we have in bass music today weren't established at the time. Speaking of establishing trends, I would love to see you check out Space Laces' Vaultage Mixes in this new format
Castles is definitely my fav out of the bunch, even one of my favs from Danny. Like the weird vocal chops and the double time/super slow drop just adds up to a song that feels like it should exist.
Would love to see a “revisit” of the first marauda (mastadon back then) ep on black label. This ep was the first modern tear out ep and sooo far ahead of its time it’s actually crazy!
i still remember where i was when i heard voyd's DARKNESS clip for the first time and i loved the minimalism of it more than anything else, it was so condensed and honed it just felt like this fuckin razor blade of a track and when voyd vol.1 came out obviously rise and behemoth were in that style but i remember being a bit disappointed that the other three tracks felt like more aggressive svdden death songs. voyd 1.5 went more in the direction i liked lol
thanks for doing this though i'd watch the hell out of you going back and listening/relistening to older stuff bc as you said it's important to go back and give stuff like this attention and remember why it's as monumental as it is and also for my own selfish reasons of seeing you react to more stuff i've listened to haha
Will you be dropping Voyd 2 reaction? I used to not like it but over the years it has become one of my all-time favorite albums. Would love to see your update on it
Love the style, a bit too goofy at times for my taste but still some banger songs for sure! PS: Just got ur gray hoodie, u got some tipps about the lint's on the inside. Literally cant wear it over a black shirt cause its gray after i take it off. Love all other one's i got! Great and cozy merch, recommend buying! Greetings
Holy, if my lord React to old stuff, We will be entertained in an illegally perfect way, thank you very much for the reactions, THANKS, also, Hair cut? Cool 🙏🏻🖤 Ps: Actually, do you accept request for reactions? I have an insane album from an insane producer that May catch your interest, as my second favorite producer After you
Tbh I'm really NOT a fan of SVDDEN DEATHs snares. They sound so incredible weak imho. Completely destroying the impact of the drop. They aren't even clunky like Convexity's or Chime's micro-snares. The SVDDEN DEATH-snare is just... weak. You know what I mean?

fucking with these throwback reactions tho man
well said joat
couldn't have said it better dude
Glad others know and experienced that change. Haha I don’t feel alone
And now that exact grimey riddim sound is getting extremely oversaturated and dull. Time is a flat circle
7:15 just for those who don't know, the character in the Rise video is Ubik. He's a demon from Berserk. Svdden Death is a big fan of Berserk, so that's why a lot of the visuals in the first Voyd EP have Berserk visuals
Would love to see you two do a future collab
Oh, new haircut! It looks good!
1:39 As an owner of the hoodie shown, I can confirm that it is very comfy and overall a very nice hoodie. Definitely a good buy for those who want merch
OH SUCH A GREAT IDEA GOING BACK FR look forward to more!
there was a time where people didn't know this was Svdden Death and it was a iykyk type of thing.
Seeing what you said about expecting it to be pure dark evil stuff it actually sorta makes sense now that I think about it.
Voyd 1 and 1.5 are a little unfocused feeling but by vol. 2 he really was able to hone in on the evil sound of Voyd.
Joining the buzz cut gang!! Looking good!
I just relistened to voyd 1 the other day, this video showing in my home page cannot be a coincidence
code reacting to some old music? we are so back
Castles is easily my favorite
last drop slaps so hard EVERY TIME
Wasn't voyd where Svdden Death started to heavily grow in popularity? Glad he got all the recognition he deserved
After listening again this ep aged like fine wine holy shit, bring more of this reactions!!
The entire VOYD project is heavily inspired by Berserk, the popular manga/anime
Best manga ever. Love that Danny took inspiration from this masterpiece
Break It Down literally has the Berserk orb thing as the visual (idk what it's actually called xd) That was really what helped me realize the inspiration
6:10 wtf I didn’t knew this part either wth, how have I never heard this haha
Needless to say I think VOYD was a turnaround for the heavier riddim and dubstep side of things. It just got more detailed and a lot of niche acts popped up - especially with the live presence of the act.

Its ubik
Oh right I forgot Svdden Death is a biggest fan of Berserk

Since it's turning 10 this year, I'd like to see you revisit MUST DIE!'s 'Neo Tokyo' EP. Very interested in hearing what you have to say about it.
Never thought someone would mention MUST DIE!'s older stuff, cheers to you mate
Voyd 1 was peak Svdden Death
Estoy emocionado por ver la reaccion de VOYD Vol. 1.5
Castles is definitely my fav out of the bunch, even one of my favs from Danny. Like the weird vocal chops and the double time/super slow drop just adds up to a song that feels like it should exist.
Danny ?
@@halfadecade4770 SVDDEN DEATH's real name, just thought it was appropriate in this context.
Reactions to my fav albums?? I love this man, I hope you can implement some of his superb sound design (not that yours isnt great, its 🔥 too)
Would love to see a “revisit” of the first marauda (mastadon back then) ep on black label. This ep was the first modern tear out ep and sooo far ahead of its time it’s actually crazy!
It would be cool to revisit like Confusion Spell from VOYD

I really like atmosphere of break 'em down
6:48 Svdden Death Rise jumpscare

The third drop of SVDDEN DEATH - CASTLES is so heavy!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Will you be dropping Voyd 2 reaction? I used to not like it but over the years it has become one of my all-time favorite albums. Would love to see your update on it

Actually it's Ubik from Berserk
I see, didn't know that one!
Love the style, a bit too goofy at times for my taste but still some banger songs for sure!
PS: Just got ur gray hoodie, u got some tipps about the lint's on the inside. Literally cant wear it over a black shirt cause its gray after i take it off.

Bitte bitte auf Voyd 1.5 und natürlich auch auf 2.0 reagieren, soviel besser und mehr Power als 1.0 finde ich :)
