Ah the run from Queynos to Freeport in the days before spires. On my human who died at night and had to kill a low level skeleton for a rusty sword just to get a lightstone so I could see....all of this to make a run across the game map to get my corpse. So many memories.
freeport was my first boat trip, leaving faydwer. I can't relate the feelings I had. I had no idea what awaited me. It was Ro, and the Commonlands; a stark contrast to the lush forests of faywder. ahh.. the mystery, the discovery, all in a world I barely understood.
I remember the very first time I visited Freeport. In the old days you have to run all the way through the Karana's to get there. It took a huge amount of time because invariably we all got killed along the way.
This does invoke a whole slew of memories. I even remember that when you ran around in Freeport and got near the Bard guild, another tune would start playing. Sure is a trivial bit of info right there .. I wonder why we keep remembereing stuff like that ?
www.project1999.com/ - Relive the Classic Everquest Experience as it was from 1999 to 2001. Project 1999 is a free to play Classic Everquest Server, unaffiliated with Daybreak Game Company but operating under legal permission. Our goal is to restore the magic and difficulty of the original Everquest game, including the mechanics, interface, and challenges of Original Content, Kunark, and Velious. Project 1999 is the most popular and most accurate reincarnation of Old School Everquest.
I miss this game. The original, no frills, no Plane of Knowledge, no Luclin, no bazaar game. Nothing quite like running through EC and hearing all the auctions, or fighting for spawns in Oasis, or those first few trips to the Plane of Hate.
I wonder how my old master, Pietro Zarn, leader of the Dismal Rage Shadowknights is doing these days? Ahhh Everquest - the internet was young and so was I. Halcyon days indeed.
Freeport SUCKED as a rogue! I remember going to train and explore the tunnels and whammo, smacked down by the KOS mobs... and since I'd forgotten to bind my soul in the new continent, it was back to Kelethin for me. ;__; But so many awesome memories... I can't wait until I have time for Project 1999.
This one time a High Elf comes up to me in West Commons and asks, "Which way to Freepost?" I tell her, "I not sure, but ask Kizdean Gix" and point at him. Needless to say, she ded, lul.
This was my first MMO. I remember trying to run across the world to meet my friend who spawned in Kelethin. I was counting on it being a short trip, but I died many times before I made it. The Karanas really creeped me out with all the wild animal noises.
This is so much better than the crappy freeport music we have today. That and the old freeport was so much better. I miss North Freeport particularly. On Mithaniel Marr its where all the auctioning happened. Evil people would be skulking in the sewers!
This is only the ... I want to say East? Freeport music, though. You wouldn't happen to have the West Freeport music, would you? Thanks again for all the uploads. I spent the most time in Freeport, and this is making me all nostalgic.
Run to Kaladam? the dwarth city. then run to the near by sea port. watch some druids kite the people inside around in wolf form while i wait for the boat to ocean of tears which was about 20minutes of waiting. sit with a friend on the boat ride learning how to speak elvish/human(common i think?) land on Freeport West i believe? then run through the desert onto the Oasis. the memories!
lol--Oasis, good memories. Remember the huge rock jutting out of the water along the coast, it was one of the main gathering spots for pulling. A SG came charging in one time and we all scattered, players jumped off the rock desperately into the water. I remember one little halfling was sitting, obviously afk or not paying attention, and maybe was meditating, but that SG singled him out and it only took a few fist poundings to crumple him over.
Everyone you can experience this nostalgia again. Just google "Everquest Project 1999" the old days are back. Im playing a druid im level 8 and in NRO hunting dervs now!
i miss everquest 1... maybe ill go back but they changed freeport and commonlands... and a billion other cities... I LOVED THE CRAPPY GRAPHICS I MISS IT :(
Everyone come on over to Project 1999! It is a free to play Classic everquest server! It boasts 800 players at peak times! It recreates the classc experience up to velious. Kunark was just released 3 months ago.
@thekithless I'm with you mate never again will we witness such a community in a game! Europeans and Americans all playing on the same servers all before ventrilo etc! I was 14 when I first played EQ in 1999 seems so long ago now!
I remember taking my High Elf Mage into Freeport for the first time by the ship that left from the dock at Butcher Block Mountains. The first person I saw was a Dark Elf chick standing on a rock outcropping by the docks. I jumped off the boat and swam up to say hi. I was killed in 2 or 3 hits and in total shock. Good times.
the plane of hate literally terrified me. You could get aggro from the pestilence rats on zone-in if you walked one meter towards the wrong wall. gravity fluxes along the main wall could aggro the upper-tier mobs, pulling massive doomsday trains that required a naked (and costly) rebreak. I only made a few trips and each time I was always on edge.
I remember running the stein of mogok (+10 int) at a really low level on my enchanter. It took me all afternoon to go from freeport, to qeynos, back to freeport, and then to Oggok. My little gnome enchanter put on Illusion Ogre, ran all over Oggok looking for the place to turn in the items. After what seemed like forever, I found the right guy, and handed in the stuff.... SHIT, i forgot to cast a spell to increase my faction, and got nothing!!! On my way out of Oggok, my illusion dropped, dead.
@Magisterdark LOL I remember when I got a bat to attack the PoD by charming him and the guards were killing him... The newbies around me were like, WHAT'S HAPPENING!? I said it was a GM event and a GM was the PoD. Then a real GM came as the Priest of Order lol
Indeed, this is the "Docks" theme that played in both Qeynos and Freeport, but it was originally written for Freeport alone (and the name totally fits the song). The one you're thinking of is Kaladim, which is titled for a similar reason. The version that plays in Kaladim has more instruments and better volume leveling anyway. How do I know all this? I was the person that ripped the midis in the first place :P
I remember starting out as a light elf, and my first journey to freeport on the boat was so epic! lol It's weird anymore I dont get such a feeling of adventure as I did in EQ in games now
@SHOE788 i tried to kill one at lvl 45, playing the role of the powerfull char on the zone... caziel? whatever.... you can imagine the result lol what a shame on me
over 20 years later I am still listening to this music to put a smile on my face. God we need an EQ3.
We do not need EQ3, let your memories just be memory
and yet rumours are now there is one on the way ? perhaps someone listened to you !
This is the most nostalgic one for me... First zone I ever played in.. Looking for the rogue guild for like 2 hours... Good times
Kelethin for me. The first character I got very far with was a Ranger.
Rest in peace Brad. You are a legend and you be missed tremendously.
Ah the run from Queynos to Freeport in the days before spires. On my human who died at night and had to kill a low level skeleton for a rusty sword just to get a lightstone so I could see....all of this to make a run across the game map to get my corpse.

Best music, Best exploration, Best questing, Best Everquest.
Wow haven't heard this song in so long HOLY SHIT nostalgia
This was the game I fell in love with. I miss it so much, I really do.
1999 a freeport rat killed me on day 1
Nothing like popping this on on the drive home and laugh crying from being so emotional.
I still stand still in the port of Qeynos listening to this wonder. Rarely have I felt such an outbreak of nostalgia.
freeport was my first boat trip, leaving faydwer. I can't relate the feelings I had. I had no idea what awaited me. It was Ro, and the Commonlands; a stark contrast to the lush forests of faywder. ahh.. the mystery, the discovery, all in a world I barely understood.

Project 1999 people.. its a beautiful thing. if you want to go back, you really really can.
+nicholas shokes It is on the Bay :)
it is.. you can download titanium everywhere for free
except leveling up sucks, noone does except alts, everyone wearing cloaks of flame and fungi tunics
@@Vesperwow We have the Green server now if you want a more even playing field.
so many memories... all of the nostalgia, EQ is truly a great game.
I love it, i was an EQOA addict, but EQ1 midi music is amazing!
I remember hearing this upon my first arrival off the boat in Freeport coming from Kaladim as a level 5 dwarf cleric. Epic.
This does invoke a whole slew of memories.
I even remember that when you ran around in Freeport and got near the Bard guild, another tune would start playing.
Sure is a trivial bit of info right there .. I wonder why we keep remembereing stuff like that ?
Walking to the library today, I saw a van that said Freeport...so I just had to look up music from EQ...good memories!
Memories.....tooo many memories
them good ol days, how did they make it feel so epic? the music is bar none the best of any mmorpg
Wow, I miss all these songs...

Music was so beautiful in the old MIDI days, now its all sound effect music with no real tune.
the default windows midi synthesizer sounds like shit, boomer
@@emil6421 With Maturity you will appreciate this music.

oh yeah!
I like the Luclin era best personally

Sheryl Moore i think that is not suck, more like best way to experience the Norrath :D

Growing up on Rallos Zek, didn't get to hear much of this...
This one has the classic EQ theme in it :)
Nostalgia attack
that is a HECK of a loading time!
Reminds me of the days where crushbone was a challange
lol I was just thinking that :) Half the time some wiseguy would kite one over to the low levels :-P
the format gave it charicter

He bases a lot of the songs off of classical artists like Bach and Mozart. In fact, one of the names for city music is "JTBach"
@tropix93 NOt impossible Tropix.....I've recently found a free server that uses the 1999 game engine that is AMAZING
lol what !!? happy music in freeport ?
what do you mean experience it all over again?
Oh yeah, this triggers me. Killing rats for parts to buy cloth armor. The devs sure knew how to tell us where we were on the food chain.
Tallon Zek server here :)
Project 1999 has recreated the good old days guys, do consider having a look (website is dot org) :)
SPECTRES!
LJ NEAR DOCKS!
never understood what training specs or SGs was spose to do, 9/10 just a bunch of lvl 12-20s there lol
I agree. EQ music sounds alot like Zelda music to me...
I remember starting out as a light elf, and my first journey to freeport on the boat was so epic! lol
It's weird anymore I dont get such a feeling of adventure as I did in EQ in games now
"you sell knoll fang for 2 gold"
@Hammerman24
lol yes
how do i go about doing such a thing? Lol
SGs TO DOCKS!
@SHOE788 i tried to kill one at lvl 45, playing the role of the powerfull char on the zone... caziel? whatever....
you can imagine the result lol what a shame on me
does this still play in game?
+DB No. Music got changed when Freeport got revamped in 2006. Absorbed North Freeport into parts of West and East Freeport, but mostly West.
Idea Insanity
Ah, ok. Thank you for the answer. :)
+Idea Insanity Actually, if you go to the docks in Qeynos, this still plays.
hahaha. Talk about religious persecution. :D
