I was just going to comment this. Why no bed for their big, beautiful dog? Plus cage looks too small for him. 😢😢
I know sometimes a dog is a chewer and will destroy any bed or blanket and may choke on a piece overnight or end up with an intestinal blockage. Our Doberman and black lab were both like that and it pained me to not even give them a blanket, but the threat of choking is real. Our lab outgrew it, the Doberman was a destroyer of all things soft and cozy until the end. lol For crate training overnight, a dog only needs enough room to stand up and turn around. Otherwise, they may not "hold it" until walking in the morning and will use a corner of the kennel as a bathroom. Hopefully soon they won't need to use a crate, and he will be free like their other darling pup! 🥰
@@missycitty9478cage is enough room. Perfect size they should only have enough room to go in, turn around. And turn around. I trained K9 dogs for over 30 years and service dogs as well. And them crating their dog- is the safest thing for it.

@@HopingForAMiracle_Prayerexactly. I’m also a pro dog trainer who has trained both high level working dogs, and task trained service dogs for people. No bed in the crate is a precaution and/or a necessity for a lot of dogs under the age of 2. Particularly large dogs who can be a little rambunctious. It’s a lot safer for them to not be around things to chew that could cause a blockage! They get beds/blankets when they are old enough to settle down and prove they can be left unattended with them
I really hope you read this ! My husband and I really enjoy you guys. Please get new coffee cups, Your mugs are low fired. Not safe to drink out of, Looks like a lead glaze. The cracks inside your mugs that are dark, Is actually collected bacteria. When you put hot liquid in your cup, it draws the bacteria out and the lead. An you are drinking it. Never drink out of cracked cups. Use your mugs for something else. Buy new ones. Stay healthy, live long ❤ All the best.

Hi yall! I have 70 acres in SW middle TN. My 1st camper sprung leaks in the roof and was only 22ft. I upgraded to a 32 ft 5th wheel with 1 huge slide out and purchased a metal RV carport...best thing I ever did!! There's nothing like having your own land. I don't actually live there yet because it's 2 hours from Nashville where I work but I retire in 5 yrs and I'll be moving there!!! I'm glad things have worked out good for yall! I know it was a bit rocky when yall 1st got there! Yall be safe with these storms moving through today!!!
living off the land is a lot of work...not something you start when you retire..start young...I did...now my place is too much to take care of...in my 70s. I'm going to sell and move to town...
@Wonderman62 I'm retiring at 59....and it's not a choice, I've got 32 yrs in my job and my farm is 2 hours away. I'm not saying you are wrong, but sometimes you have to work with the cards you are dealt...I've got a really good retirement coming so I have to wait. Is what it is.

My daughter invited me to move on to their 10 acres and I am so happy to be moving to Tennessee! I came out for a month and a half and really love it! Can't wait to get to know all the adventures in the area. She lives in the east side of Tennessee with less tornadoes 🤞

Why can't you put 2 ( not really functional) trailer axels and hitch on you cabin and register it as a trailer? I know somebody who put axles under everything on his property when the city was haslin him because of a neighbors complaints, it worked.
Liked subscribed ok now goats milk.when I was hmmm maybe 8 to 9 years old believe it or not I had a stomach ulcer. It's true my mom and dad took me to the hospital. I couldn't eat very well seems I stayed sick to my Stomach.the doctor told them buy him either can goat milk or fresh goat milk.ok in 2024 I'm 58 years old.im living proof goat milk helps your digestive tract.and your stomach.god bless much love for youguys glad I found your channel rock on ✌️ 👍

Yup.. our greyhounds really needed some extra padding. Big dogs are susceptable to arthritis. Extra bedding can really help postone all sorts of discomfort. ❤ 🐕🐶

My dog has no crate. I don't believe in animals being in cages. It's called training your dog.
Some dogs can’t have anything in their crate because they ripped them up, but Maybe worry about your own dog and not these peoples dog

I've lived off grid for most of the last decade, first I was a traveling tech for Indian Motorcycles for 5 years and lived in a 16 foot camper, the best thing was I was never in the same place for more than 3 months and I travelled almost from coast to coast and during my last station I bought my piece of property and house because I had been here once before and loved the area. I have a 650 sq foot A-frame and 8 acres on Lake Conroe in Conroe Texas. It took alot of adjustment moving up from 128 sq feet to 650 sq feet and I caught myself accumilating stuff I didn't need because of it. I live off-grid but not completely off-grid, Living right on the lake I have to be tied to the sewer line because if the enviromental impact of ilresponsibile people but everything else I'm off grid. Whenever I talk to people about living off grid I tell them 3 things. 1. Buy the right size property, You don't want your property too small that you can't live effeciently and you don't want too much property that you can't maintain it properly, 8 acres is by most standards too big for 1 person but most, about 6 and half acres of my property is woods, so when I need a little more space I just clear a little bit, this also gives me firework for the month or so every year I need firewood. 2. For your own mental health, You still need to socialize with other people, I don't mean with a small group of friends, although that helps alot and is important, but you need to socialize outside that group. I have chickens and a few goats and I grow all my fruits and veggies and living right here on the lake I fish and hunt but I still go into town and buy maybe 1/3 of my meat, that gives me a way to socialize with others, Living here an hour ish North of Houston we have alot of concerts, festivals and community events that are more often not free, I go to 1 or 2 of them a month, once again just to socialize, I also belong to a Car Club and go to cars and coffee's and car shows during the season. 3. You still need entertainment I have a 42" Roku T.v., no cable but I have internet and I Roku has their own free streaming service so I still get to watch t.v., movies and some live local channels but I generally watch is the news and weather. Just because your a homesteader and an off-grider doesn't mean you have to be a hermit or a recluse or that you don't need entertainment. 4. Learn as much as possible about the homestead you want to build, you can never learn too much.
I would 2nd previous comments about erecting a large carport over your RV. At the very least, it would help with future RV roof leaks as well as reduce heating from sun exposure during the summer and potentially provide more solar panel mounting.
In the winter, you could look into plastic tenting the RV under the carport to "greenhouse" the RV for warmth. Seen someone "greenhouse" their RV for the last 2 winters on TH-cam.
Mosquitoes:
Concur with others that Avon's Skin-so-Soft lotion works really well with those no-see-ums "flying teeth".
Look into "bat boxes" to put up around the property to encourage them to live around you to reduce Mosquitoes.
You could also look into bird boxes for Purple Martins. They should help with the other flying bugs plus they are fun to watch in the evenings.

Nice camper set-up! Beautiful full deck nice for cooking out and box gardens. A large outdoor wooden dog house would probably be better for your dog. Online you can order your dog a nice cushion pad to sleep on in his crate- it is good for the dogs joints. Animals love to be cushion in bed like we do.😊 Your dog does not look comfortable in his crate- he needs more room to move around and use the bathroom if he has to. Your building nice things around your homestead so a dog house would be quick and easy to do👍

I think you might be wrong about chicken manure being garden ready. I’ve heard rabbit manure is garden ready. Double check you do not create a problem. I’m actually holding my store bought for one year before I use it as I’ve seen a couple homesteads have problems this year.If it smells like ammonia, it is not composted enough.
Chicken manure is hot will burn your plants. Rabbit manure can be used right away.
Right. Only goats and rabbits droppings are garden-ready. Chicken poop will burn the plants and kill them.

You can mix a small mounts of chicken manure in water and then water you plants
I do know that chicken manure on a fresh sawm yard will make you mow it 3 times a week it grows faster than you can mow it down
Re: getting goats, you mentioned the only milk you use is with coffee. Goats are cute and fun but the feed and vet care i would think would be way more costly. Support your neighbor and purchase from them the small amounts of milk/cheese/butter you need. Repeat customers sometimes get preferential treatment for other things. My 2 cents...

Was thinking the same thing. Goats give a lot more milk than most realize. They are smart and fun, but anything you have to milk can really tie you down.
Tennessee here also!!! East TN ... We too went to tiny living. We are in a 10x16 shed/cabin. Once we got set up on our own property we purchased, the new inspector turned it down due to wall height. This county has those silly rules we didn't have a clue!!! Raising dogs, goats, and little gardens all around. Praying to build , before the county takes our electricity and kicks us off our own property.
It IS uncomfortable but yes does its job. We can't entertain or have the grown kids over unless we all stay outside.... But we went from having toooo much stuff to just what we need! Yes!!! You could get a roll off tarp for the back of the truck it attachs to the tail gate and has a crank it just rolls the goat poop right out the back costs 90 bucks at harbor freight. Less shoveling
You might want to take a look at a couple of Cosmopolitan Cornbread's recent posts about her experience using her own donkey's compost. Apparently the hay she was giving her donkeys was infected with an herbicide that killed most of her plants. These videos were about 2 weeks ago. Something to be aware of. The herbicide did not hurt the animals, but a lot of garden work was destroyed.
If y’all ever decide to have rabbits, I would suggest that you plant whitetail institute fusion,which is a perennial mix which comes back 3-5 years.We planted it and use very little rabbit feed.Also goats love it as well,this is a fall planted crop,but you can harvest it year round.We mow it with a lawnmower with the bagger.We are in Tennessee as well.Looking forward to the next video.❤

When you were veterans traveling around living in a camper? Does that mean you are no longer veterans? How is that possible? I was in the military too. Back in the 80's. Yet I am STILL a veteran. Will be untill I die. Then, perhaps I will be considered an ex-veteran. Has some new classification been created that I am unaware of? Also, adorable pups.

I found it amusing that you mentioned goat milk in this program as I was just watching "North to Alaska" channel this morning as those nice people were trying the milk from their recently acquired goats. N to A is another great homesteading channel that I've just started watching.
Ask and believe, you will receive! Praying that you receive what you need to get the equipment that you need. We worked on our property completely by hand for many years. We are praying for a side-by-side! We enjoy your channel so much.
On your little cabin most likely if you put some wheels on it. And then put it on blocks would probably be your cheapest fix. Then it's considered mobile . Check around you might be able to take some old axles on an old mobile home. Our go to a welding shop. Most counties treat mobile buildings differently then permanent buildings. But you still end up with blocks under it to stabilize it. I hope something works out for you. I'm sure it will if there's a well there's a way.
Welcome to Tennessee..I moved here from. Pennsylvania 45 yrs ago and love it here in Middle Tennessee.
Look into Super Adobe for building a storage building and maybe a house, if permitted. You could build a garage, storage shed and maybe a house, CHEAPLY. Also, I would look into a storm shelter, underground. A root cellar could be very functional and could serve as you storm shelter. Sand Battery can give you electric, hot water, heat, all off grid and cheap. A solar array, pointed NORTH can give you cooling and refrigeration. Run that at night.
Extra living space - yes. Had the Amish build an awning, was a good choice. Also moved the fire pit closer. I love it & the bugs don't.

You know what, don’t feel bd if your garden has faired less than stellarly. Every climate is different, the pests are different and the soil is different. It generally takes a few years to really learn your environment and what plants do well in your spot. Even if you’ve gardened a lot before, you’ll need to learn everything all over again after you move, even if it’s just to the next town over.
Don't worry about what other people say.there so perfect but say bad things about other people.as long as your happy
I know from coming across your few videos, that you two are pretty diy handy... Here in TN, fellow resident, west TN, yo can build your own house, dwelling without permits, outside of electrical/plumbing, if you went that route, and that's by the state board.. I did this year's ago when I had attempted to build a tiny house and was denied the same reason you guys were.. Then I just built my own small cabin, and went full off grid.

Get yourself a couple of containers.
One for work related items, building materials and feed etc. amd one for overflow household items - maybe plumb a one section for shower, bathroom and laundry area.
Marigolds repel mosquitos too. And they are pretty useful in other ways.
Keep your roof from developing leaks by using mobile home roof rubber in reflective white that lowers internal temps by around 30°F. Cheaper than buying a carport, but a carport would insure against roof damage more.

There are some plants that can help deter mosquitos. You can plant some in the areas where you typicaly hover/stand/sit around in most often.
I think you are doing great!! The garden gate turned out great and garden problems happen to me every year even with soil improvements. We moved our garden this year bc of our hay barn and started all new raised beds and billed rows. Everything looks like it has struggled to grow. This week it’s finally starting to grow. Keep up the good work, yours will too.
I understand everything you're going through. We currently live in a travel trailer. 2 people, one dog and 3 cats. We recently upgraded the water heater to a tankless propane one. It is amazing, but we still have to watch our usage since I still haul water. We started with a little metal shed, but last summer, we got a uhaul truck box for more storage. Sooo much stuff😂

Great deck! When I first retired, I built a similar deck with the intention of adding a tin and clear plastic roof to it. so built it with the posts on the corners and center for the roof peak. Now I wish I had built it to be screened in, but still it is well lit and has two ceiling fans for a breeze and to move mosquitoes, and to move the smoke from the smoker, gas, and charcoal grills.

Hey there, I think you guys are great! You are doing an amazing job navigating and creating your space on your beautiful property. I am super sensitive to animals and my only comment is to maybe rethink your dog crate and create a more comfortable sleeping space for your dogs. I don't mean to write that in a negative way, just a mindful comment. Having said that, I know your dogs must love your land and are blessed to be there with you!
Love what you all are doing. It looks like a lot of work, but it looks like all your work has been super productive. As far as your soil issue is concerned you mentioned earlier in the video that chicken poop is a manure that doesn't need to be aged. I traveled with the pipeline for near 40 years and lived out of an rv. I found it quite comfortable, then stopped traveling abroad and ended up buying the farmstead that I grew up in. Both my parents are gone now but I like being home. I still have my rv which is a 38’ with slide outs. When I vacation I will take it. Look at making earth berms and using hugelkulture raised beds for your garden. You can clear your land and use the brush, etc., tree limbs, and other stuff to build up your earth berms and then plant on it. The wood and other stuff in the berms breaks down and supplies nutrients to your crops. The berms are also easier to work.

WOW! Love the garden and the gate. Nigerian dwarf goats are like puppies. They will follow you guys everywhere. Suggest getting babies a year before you want to start milking. Then you can love on them and teach them when they are little about going into goat stantion and they will be ready to milk when you are. They are soooo much fun. I cant wait till you get some. I live in a camper too with my wife, 8yr old daughter, and our dog. Been in it about 3yrs. The biggest issues are septic, temps, storage, and power draw. I ran septic pipe to a septic tank and that's a life saver! Running a power pole is ideal. We don't use expensive gas anymore and have electric heaters and hot plates. No longer fill tanks unless we want to in case power goes out in winter. INSULATION is key especially in winter. I use foam board over all windows and upper vents and roll out foil insulation taped on the walls with foil tape in the bed area. Gets too hot in winter now lol. Also got a 10x12 storage shed that we use as another room. Holds tools, toys, kerosene heater and even has recliner and a TV in it. We are in it all year around as a nice chill/work zone. It can be done but I wish I could just mesh about 6 of these storage units together and make it into a house. We're outside more than inside anyway.

Don't be afraid of a very old{as in 50-70 years old} Ford or Massey Ferguson tractor, they never quit, NEVER and are cheap to maintain/repair.

maybe JUST GET THE LUMBER CERTIFIED on the cabin. Stamped lumber just certifies the lumber is dry ( cured ) and has been graded. I don't see why it couldn't be certified after the fact. They check moisture with a simple meter. Maybe a local sawmill could help.
The best poop is rabbit poop…have a few rabbits in a tall movable pen and place over your garden beds..and they just sprinkle fertilizer for you!..I have a neighbor who raise them to eat as well..blessings from Western NC❤

Obviously Debra has no common knowledge. I work at a vets office and it's just the right size, along with having no blankets. Alot of young dogs chew and it causes problems

If you can find a beauty berry bush the leaves make an excellent mosquito repellant and the berries make a yummy jelly.
Maybe do a half I closed porch to extend living and keep bugs out ? And get those metal cover building for over camper to keep rain off camper , don't remember what it's called?
It IS NOT illegal 😂. I live in a 5th wheel in Tennessee (Jackson County). Just a simple tip, get you guys a tankless water heater. The hot water never runs out unless the water heater goes out. Get some camper under pending to go around the bottom of the camper and get yourselves a heated water hose to run into the main water input. You'll thank me in the winter. Also, switch the septic hose for PVC pipe and run it straight into your septic. And, make sure you reseal your roof once every couple of years.
That deck could be turned into an add on to the trailer. A nice big living room with a stone fireplace on one side and on the other side where the other door is, a small but large enough bathroom for a clawfoot tub and an on demand hot water heater for nice long hot showers. LOL I'm just letting my imagination run wild here. Don't mind me. Great videos guys!
I just inherited 125 acres of wooded property with no well or power and as it’s in a conservation program that would not allow electric or well (I think), at any rate can’t afford it and my house is close by. I’ve been thinking about getting a largest camper to move on land. I’m in the process of figuring out electrical availability using solar battery. Water wouldn’t be a big problem. Chicken poop is not ready right away. But rabbit poop is. Chicken poop can burn your plants.
Thinking the same thing, unless most of it comes from deep winter coop bedding that has been composting in place for a while.....

i live in a 5th wheel on my sister and her husband property and he hooked up a 15 gallon to it and wat a difference you guys should look into getting one its so much better to have a longer shower.
When I was young, I was milking a goat, boiling the milk and drink it hot. It was special. sometimes I added a bit of salt. Try it.

Looks good!! I've had dairy goats for about 16 years now and I had to dry up my doe so I could travel at Christmas. Thank goodness when I got back I still had another doe in milk. I thought I would go crazy! Lol I have a rare breed called British Guernsey. They are a bit smaller but not considered small. Higher in butter fat than Nubeans and don't need grain to produce milk. Very good grazers, quiet and don't escape! Lol But I get a cream line on my milk! It just makes travel hard unless you can get someone to milk for you! Nice gate too! I think it is so crazy that y'all can live in your trailer and not your shed. Ugh! ❤ Be safe in all the crazy weather!!

I live in a very strict county , but they do allow tiny homes up to 1 thousand square ft. You just have to have ten inch floor joists and studs on sixteen inch center.

If your looking for a piece of farm equipment, look for a john deere 110 TLB, tractor loader backhoe.. mines a 2006, i paid $14k.. its basically the swiss army knife of farm/construction gear.. the backhoe is very capable, and it can dig to 10ft deep, it's also removable and has a 3 point hitch once removed, i can run every piece i need to harvest hay and bail it, brush cutter etc.. the bucket is removable so you can swap on forks, or use the aux hydraulics to run any attachment that a skid steer can run.. ive built driveways, fences, dug a septic, foundation, etc.. the most useful and best piece of equipment I've got on my property ✌️
I'm building a bicycle camper to pull with my e-bike. It has a solar electrical system. That I can use to charge my e-bike & run 8 USB's plugs. A power inverter for the bike. A 100 amp hour lithium battery. 3 100 w. Solar panels.
Plus I'm a Bushcrafter so I have the tools to survive off the land. ( Hunting, fishing and trapping ) Just me, my dog & God.
As soon as I got everything finished it's going to be a wonderful life but as you should be able to tell from the comments, I'm doing a rather minimal lifestyle.

I have dairy goats and I love them dearly, but caring for them is very expensive. Fencing alone costs a fortune, and if you don't fence your goats in, they will destroy your property, including your sheds and camper on the outside. They will be in that garden in a heartbeat. I agree with what someone else said.... since you only use milk for your coffee, support your neighbor and just buy from them. It will save you hundreds of dollars. Happy homesteading to you!

Use kao wool for insulation… it won’t burn and heat doesn’t pass through it… so cold doesn’t either…. It’s used in furnaces for melting metals… expensive but … lower heating and cooling costs …

Where was the Chicken Supervisor?? You have to pass the "Chick Inspection" to have a gate or anything else. It does not matter what I do mine always want to be a part of it, and they can not free range, so usually one will be with me - but they love to oversee the projects.
