Teen sensations Molly Ringwald (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club) and Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo's Fire) drew raves for their starring performances in this hit love story by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off). She's a high school girl from the wrong side of town. He's the wealthy heart-throb who asks her to the prom. But as fast as their romance builds, it's threatened by the painful reality of peer pressure. A bittersweet story with an upbeat ending and a phenomenal rock score, Pretty in Pink also stars Harry Dean Stanton, Jon Cryer, James Spader and Annie Potts.

There aren't words to describe how much I love this movie - everything from the sound track, the fashion and the teenage love story. This just hits in all the right places, what magic. Forever in John Hughes debt, born 1977 Oxfordshire, England ❤
Do you also love the double standards?
Her whining about not living up to the standards of love interest while we the audience should laugh of Ducky?
I'm sorry but the movie was dumb, lame and boring. Also the actors especially Molly were horrible.
Meglio " Some kind of wonderful " per tutto , storia , protagonisti e recitazione...
@@henrikhansen1023 On the contrary. This movie brings sympathy to Ducky and the wealthy love interest learns a lesson in the end and does the right thing. And It's time for you to do the same kiddo. You're a sad political slave.

😳
I wish I turned 35 today! I'd even take 45!
These "fun fact" comments are getting overused and unneccesary
This is a movie you can watch 5 times a year! A lot of morals to this teen classic romance comedy. You never bore of this movie! One overlooked moral is the “friend zone”. Duckie is the perfect example of what it’s like to be in the “friend zone”.
Duckie refused to accept the fact that Andy didn’t want him as anything more than a friend.
That’s no “friend zone” just because he can’t force her to like him back.
@@sarcasticallyrearranged good point. Fair enough.
Lol that is the definition of the friend zone.
@@sarcasticallyrearrangedWhat do you mean? He liked her, she didn't like him, so he was in the friend zone. That's what it means.
Andrew McCarthy - forever my 80s crush
One of the best movies ever made about friendship and truly believing in yourself. 💗this classic still lives in our hearts!🤗💗💗💗💗
“The girl was is will always be NADA”.. Love James Spader..so intense
This movie is an 80s classic ❤️
I love 80s fashion and music sooo much ❤️❤️
Ik rite😎🔥🔥
You have really great taste. As someone who was lucky enough to be a teen in the 80's, my heart and soul is still there.
“Pretty in Pink” is known as the best teen film ever made, and still holds up well to this day !
“You know what an older woman does for me?”
“Changes your diapers?”
“Touchè”
😂
That’s also something Sheldon Cooper’s meemaw would say 😅😅
@@chitsbWould she also be pronouncing it wrong?
One of the iconic 80s movie of all time. : )
This trailer gives away the whole plot 😂
I was just going to say the same thing. 😂
My favorite movie in the 80s
I loved it it's vintage a breath of fresh air this pandemic and social media.
I left this film thinking neither Blane nor Duckie was right for Andie. I think her guy is someone kind of in the middle of both. So I just enjoy it as one heck of a period piece in the best decade ever!
I love Andrew McCarthy ❤️❤️❤️
Me too!! He is handsome!
I saw this film when it first came out in the 80's and still love it today. I've seen it more times than I can count, lol. I used to have pics from the film on my bedroom walls and posters of James Spader in particular. This film made me a big fan of his. Molly Ringwald is an icon. I'll never forget seeing her as Sally Bowles in Cabaret on Broadway during a holiday to NYC in 2002. She was amazing! :)
I love this old movie! Reminds me of high school.
Great movie from my teenage years 😊
Alan Harper, Meemaw and Robery California in the same movie?! Gotta watch that!!
Holy cow! James Spader was a good looking dude back then!
Yes, he was absolutely beautiful!
How a random thought can spark a memory of a movie I haven't seen in ages.
Always remembered that jump to grab the banner but forgot which movie it was. I finally found it!
Very slick, well homaged updated trailer! Yet it does give a lot of the plot away, as another commenter mentioned. A little more mystery would work, but a fun summary of the movie. It was ace seeing the clips in HD!
Mr. Coffee? That’s not a name, it’s a major appliance! 😂
Anyone know the song at the end of the trailer??
Came here looking for the same answer.
Duckie deserved her attention, but as usual, the original love interest wins out. Good but, Breakfast Club is better.
He didn't deserve crap. He threw a fit like a "nice guy" and didn't even care what she wanted. She owed him nothing.
I love I love this movie !!

I loved watching this movie and sixteen candles 🕯 omg !!!
Just bought this DVD at a used book store the other day. This is the only Molly Ringwald 80s movie that I've never seen, why? I dont know cause I absolutely loved her in the 80s and 90s. I guess I'll watch it this weekend, finally 🍿🍫🍬🥤🎬📽
Try, The Breakfast Club. It's better.
0:53 Shit wow. A young Raymond Reddington!!!
Happy 35th anniversary 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸❤️
well i do love pink
I'm over here looking for Cloverfield hints
What a beautiful, beautiful boy Andrew McCarthy was - and a very handsome man later on...
I wish I had seen it when it had come out and not 30 years later! I
why cant you accept that she`s just gone.
In love with Andrew❤❤

This teaser doesn't do the film justice. 😮
J'ai vu ce film au cinéma lorsque j'étais ado. Je ne l'ai jamais oublié ❤
They just showed the entire movie in this trailer😭
What major appliance was Duckie talking about?
“Blane” Referring Andrew McCarthy’s name in the movie.. Duckie said “Blane” is not a name it’s a major appliance that’s not a name!..
I never understood why Molly Ringwald was dressed like a granny from the 1940s. Despite my enjoyment of the movie, I found it somewhat this movie was funny when it needed to be My favorite character in the movie was Ducky.
Sunday's movies mornings
Thank you all hun
John Hughes films were smart in the way they subtlety took on issues of Classism. This film even referenced Karl Marx. The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and Dutch should all be studied by film students when writing a screenplay on issues involving class. Trading Places with Eddie Murphy should be studied for Films/Comedies involving Race and Class, and A Fish Called Wanda has a strong feminist message, but it's delivered without being pretentious or preachy. Film students and screenwriters take note.
If the old punk rock song, 1985, got you to this page, then you are also old, too.😀
00:53 song name please?
Did you ever get an answer on this?!
@@tamaratrevino7772 noo 😐
Little late to this but it’s called “All wrong decisions” by Walter de Castro & Sarah Lucide in case y’all never found it
Love maduro e real
We love you all hun
This movie showed that no matter how much you might care for somebody they can leave you in an instant. The whole build up from beginning to end was supposed to be how the "rich hot guy" wasn't right for her and how ducky made her laugh and smile and genuinely cared about her. Ducky was always there for her and really made her feel genuinely special she even admitted to him how amazing he was, however on the other hand all throughout Blain made her feel like shit. After blain admitted to Andy he was embarrassed to be seen with her hes still able to swoop in at the end and take her from Ducky. Andy leaned nothing and this whole fantastic film was ruined be such a horrible ending.
Yeah Shou have kept the original ending
My favorite 🥹🖤
What does tush mean?
That’s “touché”-it’s a term from the sport of fencing.

What’s the song playing at the very beginning.
Hi Kaden. The song is Let Em Riot - Lovers and Losers. Have a nice day.
@@ghm333 thank you so much, you as well

...ahh TY.. "38" & 118 NRG Vibes..!!.. ✌🏾🐺🖖🏾✨🍿🎥🍿‼️
Just saw a little of this on tv…never saw the whole thing. I was in an older crowd then. Anyway, I had no idea Jon Cryer is in it from Two And a Half Men!
Omg am I the old sent to my daughter sweet 16
I hate this film !!
We are supposed to feel sorry for her for not being able to apply to the standards of 'Mr. Rich Guy' - while at the same time laughing at Ducky for thinking that he could be anywhere but in her friend zone.
And we shouldn't condemn a woman for not being interested in duckie.
I hate this dumb movie also. The actress going around feeling ashame of her social status and envying those with money. Pathetic. Molly is also a terrible actress.
@@SomberTwilight_uhh no the whole plot led to Andy realizing that Ducky really cared about her and even after "Mr rich hot guy" makes his mistake showing he's embarrassed to be seen with her he's still able to swoop in and take her. Andy literally learned nothing lmao. Shit ending that ruined a good film
Looks like a flop to me. It will bomb at the box office
I saw this in theater when it released with my girlfriend/now wife. She loved it, it was just meh for me. I never saw the attraction to Ringwald, a middle of the road ginger with overlong teeth sporting the same freaking haircut in every movie. My wife insisted we watch it after all these years and now it just plays out so cringy.
That Duckie character is corny AF lol

Dumb comment.

No
I totally agree. Dumb and stupid. A waste of time watching. Horrible acting especially Molly.
What’s the song at the beginning? Great beat.
The movie officially 35 years old!
I forget a young James Spader is in it.
John Hughes was a genius when it came to analyzing being a teenager in a grown up world.
The movie does wonders ruminating over adolescent angst.
Molly Ringwald is flawless and John Cryer plays Ducky so lovably. Robert Downey, Jr almost got the role.
High School Musical director Kenny Ortega actually choreographed the infamous dance scene.
The late Harry Dean-Stanton is perfect as the father.
Even though the song didn't have the spirit of the movie Molly Ringwald actually came up with the title after hearing it.
Glad she's still acting today in television on Riverdale, Cryer on Supergirl, and Spader voiced Ultron in Avengers 2.
It's relatable as a teenager we worry about insecurities, what others think of us, our social class levels, and trying to believe in ourselves first.
Really good gem of the 1980s.
Awesome movie
@J what a awesome review, I'm smiling just thinking about the movie and chuckling to myself trying to guess how many times I've watched it!
We had the winning formulas for films back in the 1980's with the likes of John Hughes, John Landis, Mel Brooks, John Waters, Ron Howard, Joel Schumacher, Adriene Lynn, the Zucker Brothers, Merchant Ivory, Richard Prior, George Carlin, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Terry Gillium, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Eddie Murphy and Paul Schrader.
Hey Paramount! Release the original cut of this film!
What is the name of the music playing in the background?
80S teen movie the best !!!
From 90's to présent, it has changed dramatically
Oh i love this movie
Surprised they didn’t use Psychedelic Furs in the trailer
