    I’m a Navy Veteran and I had the opportunity to pay my respects to my shipmates in the Arizona. I loved this video. I’ll make sure to hit the tower next time.

    We have been looking forward to sharing this one! Thanks to Dave and his team for their epic tour of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. We will post updates on the tower opening in our community section. Mahalo for watching! Correction: The air traffic control tower is 168 feet, not 268 feet, but it feels like 268 feet when pregnant and climbing the stairs.

    This video is great. The Pearl Harbor visit can be (and should be) several hours, if not the whole day!

      @@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I'm glad I wasn't imagining it! I thought I could see a bump and then came to the comments, saw nothing mentioned (until I spotted this comment) and totally second guessed myself lol. Congrats guys. Wow thank you for this video. I will have to leave a day open for this museum and the climb to top of the tower. . I’ve been to Oahu a few times and have always gone to the memorial and visited the Bowfin, but never went to aviation museum. Kudos to Erica for making the climb to the top, in spite of fear of heights. The one good thing about. It having the elevator, you got a great stairclimber workout in!!

    We just retured from our trip to Oahu. Such a beautiful place. Unfortunately the main thing I wanted to do was go on the Arizona memorial but it was closed down for repairs.☹ as well as the aviation museum as you mention. Bit that's OK, my wife is more then willing to go back once they reopen. 👍👍

      Same here! One has to make the trip out to Ford Island. Most tour companies include it but for others one has to drive onto Ford Island. It isn't hard to do but just need to know to do it!

    Loved this footage! We missed you by one day! We visited these museums on the 23rd and took lots of photos of the tower. No way I'd make all those steps, but will have to go back sometime and zip up the elevator. The Bob Hope exhibit was really awesome too.

    I worked in the small round, tower on the roof of the building. One Sunday in 1983 I arrived early and climbed to the tower cab and looked around. I probably shouldn't have but no one stopped me. I took a couple of pictures that I have somewhere. It was a scary climb, especially since the stairs were very rusty back then.

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow, that must have been scary as the tower was in rough shape. I'm glad you lived so you can share it! Thanks for watching. That must have been a cool job.

    Is the USS Arizona still closed? I read on KHON2 that it was closed indefinitely because of structural issues on the carrier underneath.

    What's the best way to get to Pearl Harbor from Waikiki? My wife and I want to see Pearl and the Missouri and see the Royal Palace and places in Honolulu. Should we rent a car for the day or is there a reputable tour company we can book with?

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can rent a car in Waikiki, use Hui car share app, or take an uber as they are all in Honolulu. Our favorite local tour company is Hawaii Tours. They took us to Pearl Harbor, Punchbowl, and 'Iolani Palace. Our guide Shaq made for a great experience. Here is our partnership link, check them out. They will pick you up at your hotel and drop you off: www.hawaiitours.com/oahu/pearl-harbor-tours/?ref=Jordan

    Just a question for you guys, I tried to book a Pearl Harbor tour with the tour group you recommended, but unfortunately the day that we can only do the tour is Tuesday but they don’t do that tour on that day. Can you recommend another tour group. Thanks Steve.

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check Polynesian Adventure to see if they have availability. There are less tickets to the USS Arizona Memorial so it is hard to book.
