I’m a high school English teacher in America. On Thursday, my plan was to read and interpret the language use in Queen Elizabeth’s pandemic speech of 2020. During my first class, I knew nothing of the situation. During the second, I had learned that she was very ill, and by my last class, I had heard that she had passed. My students were very affected by the news, and I found myself on the verge of tears as I read the speech aloud that third time. She was a remarkable woman. Devotion, duty, honor, courage - these are qualities we rarely see in leaders today. I will miss knowing she is there at the helm of your wonderful country - indeed, that she is there for all of us.
Then queen was not a politician. Her position a stature in society was guaranteed. She didnt need to compete for her role and position every few years. She didnt need to sell herself out to lobbyists and unions. She didnt need to ride the wave of media lies and propaganda as they work towards a government that is hell bent on jeopardizing everyone's rights. She wasnt open to corruption from China and other enemies of free people. I am sure ahe had to bite her tongue many many times. Makes a big difference
Our thoughts are with all our friends in the Commonwealth. It was a shock to us across the pond also, and I admit I cried watching all the tributes and stories on BBC. She was an extraordinary woman. Love to you all.
Nicola, I lived in the UK for 16 years and became a dual citizen during that time. Although I have been back in the US for sometime, the high regard I had for the Queen remained with me. Thank you for your loving tribute which so echoed the feelings in my own heart. Her commitment and integrity will be deeply missed.
My heart is broken on the loss of the Queen. God bless her & all who loved her. Thank you so much for the small piece you will be offering in honor of her.
Youe eloquent words about the Queen and her passing really summed up how so many felt in hearing the sad news. I was very suprised to have felt so devastated as an American. I really feel that it shows what a monumental leader and woman she was. A truly remarkable woman and I am blessed to have lived during her reign. My condolences to all those who cherished her through the world. You new sampler is amazing and I look forward to watching it fully come to life. Oh the wooden wonders you have shown! I also have developed a love for beautiful wooden accessories and will start saving my pennies in hopes of getting one! Take care and be well!
Nicola I’m so very sorry for your loss. She was the epitome of grace and her service to her country was a testimony to her character. We mourn with you. Blessings, Marlene
I’m sorry for the loss to you and your country. Indeed, the world has lost a woman of great strength and grace. Lovely tribute to the Queen at the end of your video.
I was stitching Marching Orders by momma loves you GB...I had already finished a platinum jubilee piece and I was working to add pieces to it before the end of the year. I also have Ann Bayless... I will be starting it soon.
Here in America. My condolences. I always followed Her Majesty and was so impressed that she treated everyone the same - very loving to all the world. God bless her.
What a sad and difficult week this has been with Queen Elizabeth's passing. I have been thinking about you alot these past days. We were so blessed to have her as Queen for so many years. May she rest in peace. Thanks as always Nicola and take good care.
Your tribute to the Queen was so touching, and thank you for offering a free pattern in her honour. I agree with you about thinking she'd live forever, even though we know it isn't possible, but she's just always been there. I'm part of the commonwealth countries, so she's been there my whole life. My mom loved anything related to the monarchy, so I grew up in that tradition. I used to look forward to the Queen's yearly Christmas message to see what topics she would address each year. She was remarkable and will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss, your country's loss, a loss to all of us. I hope you and Ray find some comfort in paying homage to her when you get to London. Take care.
Nicola, that was a lovely tribute - I know I’m speaking for America 🇺🇸 here when I say that we are incredibly sad to hear the news of the queen’s passing but we will celebrate the many accomplishments of her life with you as we humbly acknowledge the friendship between our countries. Thank you for all you do.
I've been very emotional about the Queen, she always felt like a grandmother and even though we knew she was reaching the end of her life it was still hard to come to terms with. I was talking with my grandmother who is 103 and has seen 5 British monarchs throughout her life, she was 7 when the Queen was born.
That was a lovely photo of the queen that you posted at the end - I don’t think I had ever seen it before - it’s just perfect - such a serene, beautiful expression. May she rest in peace with her beloved husband.
A beautiful tribute to the Queen, Nicola. We all have such loving memories of our Queen. I look forward to stitching a tribute to her. A special hug from Nova Scotia.
Immediately after learning Queen Elizabeth died, I thought of you, Nicola, due to your fondness for her. I am sorry for your loss. Hoping your affectionate memories of the Queen give you at least a little bit of comfort. Also hoping you and Ray have safe travels this week! It is nice you will be in London and able to commemorate the Queen with others.
As a Canadian, I am in complete sympathy with your loss as it is also mine. I am still in shock three days later. I despair over the fact that we will never see her equal again. It is unfortunate that our other leaders are not trying to be more like her in courage in their decisions, sense of duty towards their citizens and honour in everything they do. Sincere condolences to you and your countrywomen and men.
Nicola, I hope you know how much Queen Elizabeth has meant to so many of us around the world. She will always be the very best example of selfless leadership, dignity and grace. Her impact on the entire world is unparalleled, and as you so beautifully said, she has simply always been there. Her legacy will last forever and she will continue to be the one all women should turn to for inspiration. May God bless all of you in the UK at this time, and may we all honor her memory.
I love the little mouse accent....how adorable. I am excited about the free chart in commemoration to the Queen. I saw the queen when when we first emigrated to Canada in 1957. We arrived in September and she visited in October....I was 8 and we went to see her near the Governor General's home.
Although I’m from America I have been an avid follower of the Royal family all my life as my mother was before me and feel great sadness at the loss of such a figure who lived through so much history and was such a part of it herself as was her family- through great sadness and joy. Condolences and prayers to all who grieve her loss.
Although I live in the US, I have family ties to Great Britian. My grandfather was Welch, and my mother was Canadian. I have many relatives that I dearly love in both countries. I have cups and mugs and tea towels with the queen on them that were my mother's. Seeing the TV coverage has brought tears to my eyes. She was a remarkable woman who will be greatly missed.
Thank you for your eloquent and thoughtful words about the Queen. While I am an American, I found myself missing my own mother so much the other night that I cried myself to sleep. I thought I was being silly but your words captured so much of what I have been feeling in my heart.
Hi from Raleigh,North Carolina,USA. The wooden spools are just beautiful. The mouse is precious. The picture and memory of the Queen at the end of today’s video was very, very lovely. Thinking of you all during this very sad time. She was so loved around the world. 🐕🦺
I am truly at a loss for the death of the Queen. My fathers ancestry is all English so I have always followed the royal family . My heart ❤️ is with her family and the UK . She was an amazing woman. Rest In Peace
As a Canadian I share in your sadness of losing our beloved Queen. I can’t quite wrap my brain around a future without her in it. Thank you so much for the modifications to sweet little Annie Bayliss.
My sympathy and prayers for you and your country. As you mentioned, I think we all felt like the Queen would be here forever. And it does feel like we have lost a family member. May she rest in peace with her beloved Prince Philip.
My condolences to the Queen’s passing. She was such a great leader and an inspiration to all the world. I would love to see how you use your Hand and Lock cases. They are really beautiful as are the wooden spools. I will need to keep an eye out for them in the coming weeks. Take care and God bless.
Hi Nikola, I’m so happy to hear that you and your husband are going to bring flowers to Buckingham palace in London. It has been a very difficult week and I agree with you on it feeling as if your own mum has passed away. QEII loved meeting people. She was a good woman and Queen. Great video, so many nice new stitching goodies.
Nicola I’m Stopping here early on to comment. I so loved hearing you say how crazy it is that a person feels the Queens death similarly to their own grand mother passing. It is so true. And Crazier yet is that I’m an American . My sister and her family have lived in England for 30 years and we come often. We feel a connection to England and her people. I so admire the queen. And I was actually surprised how hard this hit me. There will be no other like her. Her grace and dignity. A sad time. She really did need to live forever ❤️
Such a lovely tribute to your dear Queen. She holds a special place in my heart. I did a term-long project on Queen Elizabeth II when I was in the 6th grade here in the US. I have very fond memories of going to the library with my mother to select books, combing through those books as well as the issues of National Geographic containing information about Elizabeth and her family sent from Oregon by my grandmother from her complete collection of that magazine. Three gracious women, all of whom assumed and faithfully executed the duties life gave them. Sadly, all three have now passed. Their legacies live on in my heart, and hopefully in my life. God bless and save the Queen. Long live the King. Blessings and happy stitching to you!
My condolences on the passing of the Queen. She was born the same year as my Dad and ascended to the throne on my grandfather’s birthday in the year I was born. She truly was a constant in my life. She will be missed by many around the world. On a lighter note, the wooden spools are lovely and I adore the mice! Happy stitching!
God save the Queen with gratitude in our hearts for her lifelong service. ❤️ And of course long live King Charles III And also thank you so much for this touching video from you Nicola.❤️❤️❤️
Nicola like you I felt las if I had lost some one I knew like a grandmother or old great aunt, yet most of us haven’t met her. She had been the Queen for all our lives for most people. I’m in Australia, I was up late stitching and saw on the news that she was unwell and family were travelling to see her. I knew then she would not be alive when I woke up. 😪😪 So sad the world just won’t be the same without her in it. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Nikola, Queen Elizabeth has been queen as long as I’ve been on this earth. How sad to have lost her. I was very touched by the tribute at the end of your video, God save the Queen, Long live the King. I think that it’s lovely you will be taking flowers to Buckingham palace. 💐
So sorry for the loss of your Queen. I live in America and I was 9 years old when she was crowned like you she is the only Queen that I know. She was a beautiful lady and a great world leader she will be missed by the whole world.
Dear Nicola, Thank you for the beautiful tribute at the end of your floss tube. You are right, what can you say. It was like she was going to be around forever. Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth
Thank you Nicola, for sharing your most private feelings with all of us. Even as an American I totally appreciate your love for Queen Elizabeth, she was a remarkable Queen, woman, wife, mother and Grand. She will be missed by millions of people. I am in awe thinking that so many people thought so highly of your Queen. Thanks for the new products…I will order when they are back in stock…I too love the PRETTIES. Many heartfelt condolences, Love & Hugs, Jeannette
My deepest, most heartfelt condolences to all the people so deeply affected by this sad event❤️ I shall be flying to London next Sunday(to go mudlarking the Thames River),and ever so poignantly,my flight touches ground at exactly 11 am on the 19th. The exact time that Her Majesty’s procession begins. I shall be landing in a Nation that is no longer Elizabethan. 😞
That describes it well, Queen Elizabeth has always been there. She devoted her life to taking care of her country and its people. I'm glad the Jubilee was celebrated while she was still with us. Thanks for charting God Save the Queen for us.
What a wonderful tribute to Queen Elizabeth. I am an American but have always admired the Queen and her loyal and steadfast service to her country and her people. What huge sacrifices she has had to make during her lifetime, but she always did it with grace and dignity. I will always remember her as a courageous woman and devoted to God. I was most impressed that she was humble and asked God for wisdom and wanted a united commonwealth. My heart goes out to those in her family and her country as she will be sorely missed. I pray that your trip to London goes well. Thank you so much for the free upcoming pattern to commemorate the Queen's reign. On a lighter note, I saw Melissa again at the Quilter's Station retreat in Missouri this past weekend and look forward to seeing you and all the group again that I met at Summer School. Dottie
Nicola, I believe there are no coincidences in life; therefore, it was no coincidence that on Thursday, you chose to share “God Save the Queen”. The double rainbow over Buckingham Palace was no coincidence, either. There will never be another Queen quite like Queen Elizabeth-She was such an extraordinary person who led an extraordinary life. Sending you condolences and love from South Carolina/USA and wishing you safe travels this week.
Hey there Nicola, the loss of the queen is a loss to England and to the world. She kept her word that she announced to England, wether my time on the world is short or long, it will be in service to you. And how she kept her word. God save the king!
When I first heard the first announcement on Thursday morning here in America, I turned on the BBC and Sky News; the anchors were already wearing black. I knew, based on the initial announcement and what the anchors were wearing, the end was near. I, too, feel as if I’ve lost a family member. My condolences to everyone in the UK on her passing.
Such a fitting tribute Nicola. Such an emotional time. I think perhaps we have sung 'God save our Queen' for so many years that she was our queen and I wonder if that is why we feel such a loss.
My mother moved from London to California to marry my Dad after the War. She arrived in San Francisco in Sep. 1947 and I was born the following year. We got our first TV so that Mom could watch the coronation--I don't remember that but was told it. I have always loved my British heritage and managed to cross the pond to meet my cousins at least 20 years ago. My Mom had wanted to outlive the Queen (they were just a few months apart in age) but the Queen beat her by a year.
Nicola, please accept my condolences on the loss of Queen Elizabeth. She struck me as being a woman who,no matter what, always did her best. May she rest in peace and bliss.
Thank you for your heartfelt words about Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I am in the USA, and even though she was not my queen, she has been someone that I have been aware of and admired for my whole life (as she was already queen before I was born). I was especially inspired whenever she gave an address; especially since the advent of the internet when it was easier for those not in the UK to have access. Her graciousness and poise, her devotion to her duty and her position as monarch of one of the greatest countries in the world, her identification as a mother and grandmother and great grandmother, and wife, then widow - and as a person of deep faith, - all things I noticed and admired. I join my small voice in sympathy to you and your nation, and lift up many prayers that God will grant wisdom and prospering to King Charles III. Oh, and thank you for this video. So many lovely things that you show. I look forward to the chart coming out soon that I can stitch in honor of Her Majesty.
a lovely and heartfelt tribute to the Queen. My deepest condolences to all the subjects of the UK and extended provinces under her reign and now under the reign of King Charles III. I LOVE LOVE you new wood products, I may have missed it but will they be for sale on the HATS website when available ? Hope your trip with Ray was marvelous and I hope Bertie Boo's eye is much improved.
If you would like to know when they are available again email me and I will add you to the list of needleworkers waiting for one. They will only ever be made in small batches.
Hello the spools will periodically be available to purchase through myself and I will post on Hands Across the Sea Samplers’ social media when we have them.
I am a Canadian -- several generations on my father's side, 2nd generation on my mother's. It's been a very tough week. Princess Elizabeth became Queen on Feb. 6, 1952 when her father, King George VI, died. My father, aged 47, died exactly a week later; my mother was pregnant with me, and I was born on September 8, 1952. So Queen Elizabeth II was my Queen, our Queen, Canada's Queen...literally my entire life. I held her in great esteem...like you said, it seemed as though she would live with us forever. The connecting threads across the sea have one that has now frayed; may King Charles III be given the strength, wisdom and grace to mend it and keep unity in the Commonwealth of Nations, as well as a steady hand on the rudder of the UK.
Hi Nikola, Love your watching your videos. On your Flosstube #281 you showed a oval shape red case. I tried searching for it on the internet to no avail. Please tell me the website. Thank you.
www.cuyana.com/small-leather-goods/jewelry-case/10053472.html?dwvar_10053472_color=lipstick&quantity=1 here is the link for the case. It’s intended purpose is a jewellery case but it works so well for stitching. You can fit a four inch hoop inside.
When I was outside Thursday morning very early and my phone deng about breaking news. My phones is not set up for that, and I don't watch the news, to scary....So, I looked to see what was going on, and it was tell that the Queen was ill...I stopped dead in my tracks, what???....and I was text my UK Girlfriends, what was going on...they all turned on the News....then we where on Whatsapp message each other for hours...telling stories, there parents stories, friends stories about the Queen. What they made in School, what the did for her Jubilee...all that stuff....then the word came that the Queen had pass....we all went on Zoom together and cried, stitched, cried some more.....there was cold butty and crisp ....No Cooking done that evening....I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart is with you and your Country ......put a little flower out for all your stitchy friends in the US with your Bouquet.......our thoughts and prayer are with you.....take care and safe travels ...

That describes it well, Queen Elizabeth has always been there. She devoted her life to taking care of her country and its people. I'm glad the Jubilee was celebrated while she was still with us. Thanks for charting God Save the Queen for us.
Sincere condolences.
Thought of you right away when we lost HRH. I am so sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathies from your cousins across the sea 💙 🇬🇧 💙
Dottie
Lovely tribute to Her Majesty.
I’m sad for your loss. God save the Queen Long live the King.
I don’t see a link for the shop for the wooden spools. Does anyone know the shop name?
The spools will be available periodically and I will post on Hands Across the Sea Samplers social media when we have some available.
@@nicolaparkman Thank you so much.
God Bless The Queen 🙏🏻🇦🇺
That was a lovely tribute to your dear queen. You have my sincere sympathy ❤️🩹.
Nicola, please accept my condolences on the loss of Queen Elizabeth. She struck me as being a woman who,no matter what, always did her best. May she rest in peace and bliss.
Thinking of you and all that Queen Elizabeth meant to the world.
Great video. The boxes look wonderful.
a lovely and heartfelt tribute to the Queen. My deepest condolences to all the subjects of the UK and extended provinces under her reign and now under the reign of King Charles III.

Beautifully said.
What is the name of the scissors with the colored handles. Thank you. Prayers being sent to you and your country
They are Cohanas

Thank you for a wonderful video 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Hi Nikola,
Love your watching your videos.
What a Queen. What a loss.
