Getting train to schipol is, simpler ends, up in the airport virtually. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

I think we'll do that next time. There was a bus stop very close to the hotel which is why we thought we'd try it, but regretted it, especially when we hit stationary traffic on the motorway... Train for sure next time!

This just popped up in my feed
    I love travel videos
especially as my partner is ill and now housebound
so we cannot really travel anymore.
So we enjoy watching others like you make journeys

Don't worry - we have had many exciting journeys over the years.
Our last major trip to Amsterdam was to see
Philip Glass's opera "Einstein on the Beach"
      at the opera house.

Which a very unusual 5 hour opera LOL
Amsterdam is a great place to visit.

this popped up as new content for me today , because I love ferry travel. Good luck with your channel, I subscribed. And in case you are interested how far your new channel traveled to connect with, this viewer....I live in the Rocky Mountains of Southwest Montana... and its a warm for us December evening....15F, not much snow on the ground 10 inches, just got back from a Christmas market as a vendor selling handcrafted wreaths, drove the 40 miles back under a winter sky above something to behold venus hovering above the crescent moon the last 25 miles not another headlight so perfect, . elk bedded in the fields with the geese and tundra swans. we live at 5400' in elevation in a high valley on the east side of the tobacco root mountains which top out at more than 10660" feet in elevation or 3200 m plus minus. thanks for sharing and merry christmas form Montana

Thank you for filming a trip that I plan to make soon (the ferry one). To market a ferry to IJmuiden as a boat to Amsterdam is a tad misleading, honestly; you're still quite a way away, and traffic can be a problem at rush hour. Tip from a local: don't take a bus to Schiphol airport from central Amsterdam. It's built on top of a railway station, and it's always quicker to take a train (they go every five minutes or so). Just go to Amsterdam Centraal or (better still) Zuid station (not as frequent, but quieter trains) and take the first one in the right direction.

I get what you're saying about the location, but that's how it's listed through DFDS on booking, so if we listed a different destination it wouldn't align and most Brits would then probably not know what we were talking about.
We only got the bus because it was so close to our hotel, but we did regret it and wished we'd got the train, lesson learned there for next time!

I imagine the on-board club ends up a bit full during stag and hen season...

Is the public transport easy to use / understand?

It is, we used the i-amsterdam card most of the time we were there, it gave museum entry/discounts but also worked on the trams. If you don't use that card you can tap a contactless card (just remember to tap again when you get off). One of my favourite things about the trams that I wasn't aware of was the different doors to get on & off!
