It still blows my mind that Jeffrey Hammond supposedly wasn't really a bass player?? Ian brought him in almost described as a guy to 'fill that roll'/? Surely they must've been joking!? Fantasticly under-rated player. All these guys were beyond superb...what an effin' band! T
Those who don't know Tull have only heard "Bungle In The Jungle" because it got the radio play. That's why they couldn't figure how Tull beat Metalica.
Two Fingers was writen years earlier - the first one I know of was an outtake from the Aqualung Season and it was written as an acoustic track (Works mutch better). Skating Away was a live favorit for years - This an only solitair were written prior to pasion play for an abandoned record - parts of it went into passion play some were released in the 90s on Nightcap and two found their homeon warchild. I Think they left one of the best tracks off the record - Rainbow Blues
Skating Away (and Only Solitaire) was (were) recorded earlier in 1972 at The Chateau D'Isater.....that's probably why you think it sounds like Thick As A Brick or A Passion Play.
Skating Away ..a masterpiece. Bungle In The Jungle...heard it too many times over the years...I skip it every time. Only Solitaire...brilliant! The Third Hurrah is becoming one of my favourite Tull tracks ever. Two Fingers has a fantastic opening and then gets pedestrian after that...I actually like the original "Lick Your Fingers Clean" from the Aqualung sessions better. The 40th Anniversary book edition is the one to get...has many more tracks that missed out on getting on the album...it was originally going to be a double album...they missed out big time on this in 1974; if it was released as a double album it would be up there with their greatest releases.
no one like Jethro TULL. amazing creative music and brilliant lyrics - unmatched.
This tour was the first rock concert I ever saw. My life, and my vision as a musician, was never the same
I will always come back to this band as a completely unique sound and feeling.
Barlow's talent and genius is off the charts.
Only Solitaire is a clap back at a critic
The Third Hooray is amazing! (soprano sax, played by Ian)
🎷🎷🎷Ian Anderson - vocals, flute, acoustic guitar, alto, soprano and sopranino saxophones🎷🎷🎷
🥁🥁🥁Barriemore Barlow - drums, percussion, glockenspiel, marimba🥁🥁🥁
🎸🎸🎸Martin Barre - electric guitar, Spanish guitar🎸🎸🎸
🎹🎹🎹🎹John Evan - piano, organ, synthesizers, accordion🎹🎹🎹
🎸🎸🎸Jeffrey Hammond - lead vocals and spoken word (on "Sealion II"), bass guitar, string bass🎸🎸🎸
🎻🎻🎻Dee Palmer - orchestral arrangements🎻🎻🎻

Check out "Lick Your Fingers Clean". It's a different take on the last song from the Aqualung sessions

You can't get too much Tull
Never😊

Have you happened to notice that Barrie’s drumming in every song he played on with Tull is not the same ?

Omg. Not more Tull. Sorry just my opinion. They have some bangers and then alot of wood nymph flute stuff.
This is from last month. It was blocked for 30 days
Wood nymph flute stuff? Well!
So what's wrong with it? He clearly likes them
I like Jethro Tull second only to The Beatles.
