Nice Review... I bought a rme adi2fs dac cause money investment into hifi gear is limited for me myself. But if i got the money i would buying the spl gear home hifi components. High level by Engineering main focus and handmade with expensive parts. So i am a bit proud to got one masterpiece in my Hifi Row which steps more and more to a High Fidelity Sounding and fun to hear more out of sone music tracks. if i got the money uh SPL Amps , SPL Preamp , a Pair Gauder Akustik Berlina , and a few digital players and a nice phone player. All in a much bigger room to improving the Stage.
a really good video review. I am a newbie into headfi and this helps me to choose the gear. I already have a pre amp with a dac and streamer built. so can I just connect the SPL Phonitor XE to my pre amp ?
I just picked up the SPL Phonitor 2 and am considering the Audeze’s. I wonder if you think there will be any difference between the Phonitor you reviewed and the Phonitor 2?
@Duncan Taylor Hey thanks for this detailed response. I have the Mytek and agree that it is a bit analytical. My upgrade would be the SPL Phonitor with the DAC and preamp. One more question, do you think it would pair well with the Focal Stellia (with the upgraded Moon audio black dragon, warmer, cable?). Nadine

I like SPL products.
Great job. I’ve played with the spl but not the audeze. I’ve enjoyed my focal clear mg’s but would love to hear the planar magnetics
@Duncan Taylor i owned a pair of stax with their own step amp 25 years ago. Very detailed, but little low frequency.
Appreciate the point on cable selection.. any specific interconnects/ cables you would recommend for optimal performance with the SPL?
