- Today we are here to share our experience in a brand new 2024 Polaris Xpedition ADV 5 Northstar with you. This new fully enclosed machine comes with all of the bells and whistles, straight from the factory. Is this machine worth the $46,000 price tag? We give you, strictly our, opinion on this machine, based off the ride we took in it.
A huge thank you to our friend Cody for letting us steal him and his machine for a couple hours, we had a great time and appreciate you!

Thanks for a great review. You kept it positive and unbiased.
We did our best, thanks for watching and for your positive feedback, we appreciate it!
I can appreciate that ride 100% for someone that would get use for it just not for me and what i like to do but, i totally dig it very attractive ppl kill me comparing to a jeep there different in a lot of ways.
We have a pro R 4 seater and the expedition my pro R has 400 miles and our expedition has a bout 800 our expedition is a year old our pro R is 2 years old if you love to trail ride get the expedition if your a sand and rock person buy the pro R as we get a little older we do a lot more trail riding and less rock crawling love both!
I really enjoyed your review. I checked out one of these at the Coos Bay Polaris shop last week and I was curious. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching! Haha, we are not reviewers by any means, but we hope the general concept and what the Xpedition has to offer was relayed. They’re nice machines, just a bit out of our budget, especially for the type of riding we do.
Great video. A great review. If you had the extra money it would be a great purchase! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks James! If we had throw away money, we’d definitely have one for some over-landing adventures. Thank you for watching, as always!
just bought mine 3 days ago I love it
Enjoy!
Great video. Because showed real life.
Thank you! We definitely do our best to keep it real from the everyday persons perspective.
Needs a bigger motor. The new xd ranger 1500 motor and transmission would make more sense in a vehicle that size.
Great review
I see a lot of repo’s in the near future
I'll, stick to my Unimog thanks
Haha if I had one, I would too lol
Seems alot louder inside than my Defender limited. I do like the looks and some options they have.
I'll admit. A little dynomat would help haha
That’s a awful thought for a machine worth this much!
@@clayton8465 True, they should have done this from factory considering the price tag.
Nice opinion you got there.
this thing should be 10k max.. Loud as he'll inside too
Great review guys, best one on you tube!
Thank you! We’re not reviewers by any means, but we had fun with this one!
Cool machine, like some little stuff they thought of but interior noise seemed quite loud.
It’s cool as heck, and that’s about it. I can’t plate that in my state, Polaris put top speed at 48? it noisy as hell, can’t really carry much (I think she said 1100lbs?) the ac only has a couple vents up front, what’s the catch? At $20k I’d consider it but I just can’t see the value. Not knocking them for building it or anyone who buys it, Polaris is trying it’s best to stay ahead of the game and I like that they always come up with something new, something nobody else is even looking at, for them it’ll bring people to the dealership, they’re getting mad publicity and deserve it. For me? I don’t know where it would even fit, like what would I use it for. What would it replace, what would make anyone clear up some room in the toy shed to get this? Other than “I got the new expedition!” For bragging rights maybe? But most would just look at ya like your a dumbass for buying it.
That’s the Best SXS on the market
my 2014 chevy high country only fetched 22 k from insurance after a blizzard... glad for yall richies
No richies here, haha!
We’re just lucky to have had the opportunity to make this video of our friends machine that he worked really hard for. People choose to spend their hard earned money differently.
Nice job guys. ❤
Thanks buddy!
Id rather buy an actual suv for that money, and have enough left over for a few 570's. I actually love the concept but these prices are insane, and that goes for utv's in general. At least at that price their won't be too many clogging up the trails.
No comparison.. this is a stupid an old trope that has no validity.
@@wraith511802003 On that we agree, there is no comparison. I paid $32k for my PRO 4X Titan and I can use that for way more than you could paying $50k for this thing. To me that's a lot of money for a 1 trick pony, even though that trick is admittedly pretty cool.
so what's the benefit deference btwn a jeep and the ADV5?
Cab noise is annoying. I’d bet that it is due to the cargo area being integrated into the cab. A rubber mat on the bed floor would probably make a big difference. Biggest negative to me is that the price is dang near in the Ford Bronco range.
I wish Polaris would offer the telescopic steering in all the XP models
Love it but I Samms know.how to make it road !egal.and I live in FL so.how much water can it ford?
my polaris ranger 1000xp blows belts like stripper on the vagas strip!
Wow it sure sounds loud!
Can it be flat towed be hind a vehicle
My first impression is WOW that is loud inside.
A little dynomat would cure that. Once we turned the music up it wasn't noticable. Although I will say that it's for sure not a Mercedes haha.
@@offroaddiariesour 20 northstar ranger is so much quieter. This is unacceptable to me.
what are you talking about this was a great review@@kartpilot63
Price goes through the roof while the warranty stays the same. 🤔
The price tag is discouraging but you do get alot of nice features. I'm sure they will still move units well
Oh, we absolutely agree. It’s out of our budget, but budgets vary per person, so we imagine they’ll still sell plenty to the right people looking.
Loud inside!
Yes it is!
We aren't going to mention the fact that the interior is HEAVILY inspired by fords light duty line up.
When you can have a 4runner that's more capable and more comfortable at about half the price I don't understand the appeal 🤷♂️
Only if I lived in a state where I could register it for road use.
I want ev model like this.. with solar panel roof rack and or fold out solar panles i can set up whilest i am in the hide waiting for my shot or whilst fishing .. I live in sunny South Africa
really nice machine...but buying a polaris for that price is absolutely outrageous. If i was ever spending that amount off money on a machine you best believe its gonna be Japanese. This is robbery
No Reason to not just get a Jeep, Bronco, or 4Runner at that price point. Just put a little bit of money into their suspensions, and the ride is probably comparable, with about 10x the resale value.
At that price point in a Jeep , Bronco, or 4Runner you wouldn't get close to the same features. That is if they even sell a stripped down one. This is stock with all the hop ups you would want from day one. You may change the tires of course.
Your crazy. Jeeps are wider, longer, heavier and taller. No way they can follow me on the same trail where this can go guaranteed!!
We're can I get the things u just said for that price plz tell
@@Jay-it3ze Don't get me wrong. We have a sxs, but we only paid 14k for it. It does better offroad than a jeep at speed, but a jeep does better at rock crawling type stuff. Their are expensive sxs that are worth it for their price tag. The mav r is very expensive yet to touch that performance in another offroad vehicle you would spend a lot more. This polaris wannabe jeep is just bad in all regards IMHO. Maybe it is perfect for someone, but I don't seem room for it in our fleet.
Agree 👍
Let's turn up the power band a little let's give it three 238 HP
Let’s see how many they sale at a 50 k price tag. It’s nice but stupid high !!!
They cannot keep up with the orders.. So..
Not everyone is poor
I love my sxs I have put 13k miles on it since 2015 but these manufactures have priced their products out of the range of a blue-collar worker, making under 100k a year. We are moving to a future where we will have only 2 classes of people and that’s rich and poor. The middle class I am in is disappearing.
Absolutely agree, you’re so right, and it’s so sad.
come on ......50K? this is getting ridiculous!.. please no one buy and keep the prices down or go buy a jeep.
It’s only worth it to those who pay that price. Who am I to judge valve. Personally I feel it’s way too much, a new on road vehicle is almost same price. Got to say it sure sweet.
Would you do another video on this unit?
If the opportunity comes, yes. It would be great to test it in different terrains, to see it’s full capabilities, and where they end.
How hard is changing the belt?
It looks like a pain. But so far I haven't seen anyone have to change it.
They sold out of all of them so far around my neck of the woods
I like it but it is just way too loud inside the cab
We agree, it is loud, especially being in the backseat trying to talk/listen to front seat passengers.
What are your thoughts on the cab noise while driving and the high RPM's ?
It was significantly louder in the back seat than the front, but dynomat would definitely help reduce some of the engine noise. As far as any other type of noises, rattling, creaks etc, the machine was tight in that aspect with none of that. The JBL system was very impressive, for stock, there was a lot of bass and clarity, so if you wanted to jam out while driving, that would drown out the cab noise too.
I have a xp ns 2 seater, it's pretty loud. Louder than the ranger for sure
Wow unbelievable loud. My can am defender is way quieter. I would expect a lot more for 46 grand
I want one so bad. But I agree the price is hard to justify. $45k can go a long way for an epic jeep build.
Absolutely, we agree completely.
Can’t take a Jeep where these can go. They are to wide, tall and heavy for narrow off camber trails.
@@gunguyreviews377 true there are positives/negatives with different types of off road machines. Where I ride this would be great for most the trails. And Comfortable to say the least. And narrow enough for opposite traffic.
But there are a lot of obstacles I’d love to hit that I would just have to watch others hit being in an Xpedition. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Would prevent getting crazy and damaging it.
I prefer the 6x6 with extended bed
Sounds like a go cart from the 70s. Sound like it's going 80 but it's really going 25
Nothing a little sound deadening mattering won't fix haha
RZR has an OEM clutch kit for higher elevations. If this platform isn't already set up for that, it would be interesting to see available options for helping the N/A above 3000ft
I do Wonder where the actual sweet spot is supposed to be on these new 1000 motors.
@@offroaddiaries We look forward to the feedback... 😉👍
@@offroaddiariesit’s the same motor and clutches used in the ‘24 RZR XP 1000. The transmission is geared lower than the RZR but we clutch kitted ours to run around 8700 rpm at 1600’ elevation which puts us around 8000 rpm when we’re up in the 6000’ elevation areas and it’s incredibly snappy.
Does your windshield leak? Mine does. The dealer is warrantyong the whole windshield
He hasn’t driven it in any weather to know of any leaks at this point.
You spent 50 grand for a leaky windshield 😂😂😂
I wonder why its so loud? If they couldn't make it quieter that would be a no sale for me.
That’s totally fair, if you’re going to spend money on a machine, it should definitely be something that makes you happy.
45000 dollars ppl have lost there ever living minds
Honestly why not just buy a jeep at that point? 🤷🏻♂️
@@poloslim6448I’d honestly rather have this and make it street legal
I’ve had three jeeps. Time for something new.
Their is no value based math equation that could put a price tag of 46k on this. Based on other substitutions of new and used off road vehicles I would think 28k to 32k a competitive value.....you'd have to be someone who is a) have f7ck you money or low iQ debt acquiring fool(make 100k plus and living paycheck to paycheck)
Basic model is 45000, fully loaded ones are over 60,000.. 😂
Why not just buy a suzuki sidekick or a small suv or pick up modify the crap out of it. With 40.000k you’ll still have some change in the bank. I just don’t see the price tag and can’t make sense of why you’d rather spend it on this
No comparison.. this is a stupid an old trope that has no validity.
Buy a Colorado for that price
OMG It’s absolutely hilarious there is a market for this price range … same clowns buy powdered whey protein 😂
For 45k it should have came with an engine with nearly twice the power.
REACH HOW MANY KILOMETERS FOR 1 LITER OF GASOLINE
About 120 miles on 10 gallons of gas.
Is it liquid cooled?
Yes, it is liquid cooled.
Still think price will be deterrent for most people.
Can This Machine street Legal? Let me know please!
Yes, it sure can be set up to be street legal.
Ill wait 2 years till rebates happen this is rubicon money
It is definitely up there in price, that’s for sure.
$46,000 is insane. That's Wrangler Rubicon money for something that's not even street legal.
Only get 7k out of the motor, run a jeep 200k
Seen a ton of jeeps have head gasket issues with low miles. And can't say anything about mileage out of a brand new developed engine by Polaris.
If they made it 26 grand and street legal it would be the best selling car in america...
Only 65000.00 Canadian. 15000.00 more than a new 2023 Tacoma .
For 50k you’re surprised it has power windows?
It’s nice but for 50 thousand I would just buy a 4Runner I know it’s indestructible.
muy caro para España.
Muy caro para los Estados Unidos también!
I have nothing nice to say about that thing, but ehhh dude looks super baked lol
just buy a bronco at this point
No comparison.. this is a stupid an old trope that has no validity.
bronco ain't gonna do what this will.
@@sam_rules76 probably not but still
@@hxndas1 100% not, not even the Braptor can.. stupid comparison every time.
These things are literaly their own cars just not made of literal paper like cars
Yea, my first house was $55k... the three cars i currently own... combined don't even add up to $47k.. your out of your mind paying that much for a toy.
It sure looks awesome but I couldn't justify giving the money when I could get a really good rubicon.
Totally fair and we agree!
It's easy to say you're impressed until you're the person that's making the payments then u start seeing all the bad stuff.
$45000 and not street legal?
For this price you could just get a used 2 door JL.
No comparison.. this is a stupid an old trope that has no validity.
@@wraith511802003 How is there no comparison? A jeep will go anywhere this utv will go and you can drive it to the trail and back and to work on monday. Not to mention how horrible the engine sounds in the cab. It isn't a Pro R, That is a whole different ball game and a jeep does not compare. You have no clue what you are talking about. And yes i own a jeep and a rzr.
@@wraith511802003you keep saying the same thing. This is similar in size to a Jeep and it’s not NEARLY as versatile. The ROI is junk for this UTV. Way too much money.
Who did they think they were selling this to? The US military? only they can afford something like this.
Next year's model will be a pickup truck.
For 45 grand that joker better swim!
HOW MUCH POLARIS EXPIDITION
This one is around 45k
50k with no sun roof’s?? Come on Polaris.. put a damn sunroof and I’ll buy one..
😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
That thang shouldn’t costs that much, that’s as much as a nice car
I'm gonna wait till Ford And chevrolet and toyota come out with these little truck for ten thousand dollars You could put a lot of money in these little trucks and have a better rig. Than a plastic.
Polaris.
theres no reason it should cost this much, unless it was road legal right out the gate
46k !
Take a hit off road and it’s toast!
I’ll take a 4 door Jeep over this HypeMobile 🤣
Buy a used Jeep Grand Cherokee or Land Rover / Range Rover!
Get real people.
To each their own, some people have throw away money 😂
HELL NO
Never
This has become a status type of buyer. Wealthy won't care about the price. Working people won't be able to afford this price. Middle income people may be able to pay this price. Status people won't care about the price. This limits the group of buyers.
Most people who will buy will have.
Mortage
Automotive payments
Children
Along with everything else.
Add $40,000 to $80,000
Toy a trailer to haul it and the cost to take it to play.
That's a huge expense.
At $20,000 to $30,000 the buying group was probably 3 times this size.
Let's face it very few leave them bone stock. And it's real easy to spend $10.000 in extras.
Totally agree. It’s hard not to spend more in extras when it comes to any Offroad machine. Customizing it and making it your own can become extremely costly, but to each their own in how they spend their money.
I would just buy nissan frontier 4x4 and it's cheaper than this Polaris
No comparison.. this is a stupid an old trope that has no validity.
Too slow for that money!
Wow that thing is super loud. Rear doors don’t seem to open fully…..way too heavy for trail. I hope Polaris have figured out reliability issues. OMG…turn the music up to drown out the horrible engine sound….that’s a plan. RPM’s seem super high at cruising speed….fuel consumption must be awesome. Huge pass, but nice review.
AN you know next to nothing about it, so cool.. Heavy for a trail? What the hell you talking about?
@wraith511802003 At 2800 lbs, it is limited in Canada to where you can take this vehicle.
@@marksjunction69 Aw well that is their problem.
I wouldn't pay over 16k
uh ... NO!
At that point just buy a jeep 🤦🏻♂️
Wherever you guys are buying these from you're getting ripped the f off we paid 26 for ours out the door four seater
For an ADV Northstar?
Just get a Subaru almost the same thing, only the motor and drive Tran will go 200k
So get one of the most unreliable cars ever made lol.
Just buy brand new pick up
What if I already own a brand new pickup?
@@gunguyreviews377 destroy ur pick up u dumb
Just buy a truck for that much
I can think of a few things I could buy for $46,000 🤔
It is a raised Yugo on steroids. Absolutely not worth the 46K.
Most Yugos didn't come with AC 😂
