Damn, this is something I didn't know I needed. My parents are loving as heck, but in the tough love kinda way. I love my older bro, he is bright and brilliant, but the constant comparison is weighing me down. I think it's an asian parent thing to want their child to go the doctor/lawyer route and I keep feeling like I'm being a terrible child for not wanting to do that. Im a stubborn brat though I'm grown, and sooner or later that's gonna cause a rift between my parents and I. I unfortunately also have a track record of running away from my problems, and since my bro lives away from us now I imagine this scenario in the audio playing out. This snapped me back to reality. Thanks Cardlin for that. The audio depicts a more gentle way of dealing with the situation, and serves as a reminder to me that I need to face my issues and stop running. And also that my parents have put similar pressures on my older bro, and he's gotten so far in life because of it.

I fr cried because my older brother is actually my half brother and since my mom had him really young my grandparents raised him. I grew up as the oldest child in my household and basically didn't grow up with my older brother but I looked up to him and and basically admired him my whole life. But instead of being compared to him our mom always compared him to me because I'm "successful" but he's intelligent. When he was in community college he was offered a job from NASA and I was so incredibly proud of him and it made me admire him even more. As a kid it was my dream to get a job from NASA but after they offered a job to him I gave up on it because I thought I wasn't "smart enough" but everytime we text he always mentions that mom rubbed it in his face that I have a job while working on school and how "successful" I am. He ended up saying no to the job, dropped out of college, twice. And he still lives with my grandparents. But I dont think I'll ever stop looking up to him. If he lived close by I'd 100% try to have a better relationship with him and I can picture him being like this as a brother. Thank you Cardlin, it really made me feel like someone so far away was closer.

He drove me back home and told me, and I quote, "If you ever try that again, I'll call the cops on you and beat you in front of them"
I never did it again afterwards, but I still think of it

My older sister turned 17 yesterday. She has autism and gets all the attention from my parents (okay maybe not all but it sure as hell feels like it,) and I get why, but I just want more love you know? I’ve had huge fights with my parents, and they were because I’ll never have a sibling like this. My sister talks to me but rarely. She doesn’t like anything that has to do with me. She doesn’t like hearing me talk that much either. I’ll never have a sibling that tries to help me, but I do try my best to help her, and I think that’s what I am supposed to do. This video helped a bit, yea the fantasy of having a brother/sister who does this may have grown a bit, but it’s fine. Thanks Cardlin💕

This reminds of my senior year in high school, but my older sister isn't the one to talk about things and my parents are exactly the same: my mom is expecting me to be just like her oldest and youngest daughter (I'm the middle one) and my dad just disappears whenever there's yelling involved.
I wish that I could forget everything from my school years, and I didn't realize just how much it scarred me until this very moment. I'm literally laying on my bed with tears in my eyes because of the crazy similarities between this audio to my life.
When I actually think about it now, this is s full-on emotional neglect. Fuck.
I had to move to my grandparents house because my mother would yell at me every night while dad just sat back and continued to watch TV because I am the eldest daughter and got the blame for everything. Your not alone and your going to be ok.

Honestly I found this today, after seriously considering running away. I'm stuck quarantined with an emotionally abusive mother who doesn't respect that I'm an adult and can make my own choices (meaning she doesn't respect that I'm trans). I cant see my partner, or my supportive dad, and I'm struggling so much and thinking of running away. This was nice

Hey Cardlin, you probably wont read this but thanks a lot really. This video helped me and my mental state right now. Yes, I didnt relate to most of what we're talking about in the video but it made me cry nonetheless. I guess, I just needed that older sibling to lean on and be there for me for a little while. Being an only child kinda sucks, theres no one and the burden feels extra heavy because you're the only one (theres no the other sibling will do better, i have to do the best ever). Thank you, a lot really. I did feel a tad bit lighter after listening to it (and crying).

Maaaaan, my mom and older brother were the ones that gave me the worst trauma. I ended up not having to rely on them and raised myself, but am adult now and can tell when family really cares about you (instead of being ultra-toxic abusive pieces of shit). And now I'm also distancing myself from my chosen family, because.. cynical reasons. I'm a firm believer in blood is not thicker than water, so I mean it when I say; there are some families that do actually care about their relatives, even though it may not seem like it. The drama may seem like "first world problems" but family can really mess a kid up if not done right. This shit is very important and can really make or break a person.
Idk why I'm preaching, I slept for like an hour last night and just woke up from a sugar induced coma. Kind of upset I slept the day away but at least I still get to leave weird preachy comments on peoples' YT channels. 🤷🏾😅
