- This song, credited to Brian Downey, appeared only on the obscure "Remembering" album until it came out on the "Vagabonds, Kings, Warriors, Angels Boxset". It dates to around 1974, during Gary Moore's first tenure with Lizzy.
Lineup:
Phil Lynott (vocals/bass)
Brian Downey (drums)
Gary Moore (guitar)
HOLY SITAMOIA this song is absolutely BRILLIANT
Brilliant ❤
I used to listen to music when doing homework, whenever I got to this track I had to put down the pencil and listen to this song until it was finished, had to do that for a a lot of Thin Lizzy songs, plus Rory Gallagher songs, plus Iron Maiden songs, AC/DC, U2, Freddie King, Journey, Metalica, Sony Boy Williamson. Man no wonder I never I got my homework finished to busy rockin out!
Don't be shy.
You are probably a Rocket scientist by now.
I look forward to your reply in about 11 years.
(Imogis will be history then)🤭
Classic 😂😂😂❤❤❤
The drums are awesome in this song. Downey killed it.
Downey wrote it!
Awesome ❤
Gary and Phil reunite at the top of the stairway to heaven ...over the fields and far away 🤘👍
Sitamoia, just another total brilliant song by the very best rock band that ever hit town, this band were totally incapable of recording a less than golden records. After all those years of asking myself, what is my favorite T.L song and I have finally realized I had that this answer from the very beginning, My favorite Thin Lizzy song is that one I listening to right now, this will change as soon as I hear another Lizzy song,, in other words, each and every tune that Thin Lizzy & Phil Lynott every recorded are all my favorite songs
Same here. Every time you think you've got a favorite, you listen to another and rediscover the brilliance that makes it your favorite until the next time when another song wins you over.
Bless ❤
How can a man make so greath music. How could i live without this music.
Phillip Lynott's legacy will forever live!
Oh yes!!!
Brilliant! I remember hearing it when I purchased Remembering I was only 14 yrs old. Fantastic.
I think it was the B side to Little Darling. It was my first 45 I bought in 1974.
Where on earth do you get the inspiration for this type of thing to enter your head. A true genius, and material that still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and will do until I'm completely bald
One of the best Lizzy songs !!!
3 minutes and 23 seconds of sheer brilliance
And exactly 323 thumbs up to go with it.
Ok. First off this tune is brilliant. I get the Irish / Gaelic feel, but who else hears a Native American war dance kind of thing? Am I the only one?
No man yes deffo a native american vibe I think
The kettle drums are very remenisant of our native skin drums! Good ear
Phil loved Indians cowboys Mexicans definitely
@@garethmcmahon9769 Absolutely right, the song is beyond just "a good song" and yes , war dance, with celtic "spice", brilliant,
Fucking great song
When I hear Phil's voice, feelings just flood me, what a waste, pitty that he is gone - imagine how many great songs he would made if he was still around.....as he said "even in zhe darkest town I hear the king"s call" and he was above "just great"
My dad had the Remembering album this was one of the first TL songs I heard and stuck in my head at a very young age. As soon as you hear Brian Downeys' drums there is no escape.
He was taken away from us far too soon, but lives on in Legend, like the characters from his songs.
I am speechless at the greatness of this. always puts a tear in my eye

My God what a gem of a song. It's an 'emerald' under the snow in Glasgow. ( I know Scottland :)
That was with Eric Bell , Gary Moore did record it with them but it never was released as far as i know ... brilliant song though .... Thin Lizzy ROCK!
I have not heard this in years and it is very difficult to find! Thank you for having here.
en låt jag aldrig hört förut men vilken hit låt detta är woooooooooowwww love it
i love my youtube mix and my add blocker. it is non stop music and from time to time youtube plays new songs to me and it is always a pleasure to "find" new stuff like this
Such a strong song
When you listen to the music of Thin Lizzy you will fully understand why they were called the greatest rocking band of all, If anyone comes along later and tell you about how great this band you can be totally honest and vet not boastful, you can say I already know this as you will be telling the truth
I have "Remembering Part 1" on vinyl and according to the sleeve notes:
"Sitamoia recorded with Gary Moore, has never been released before".
and:
"Eric Bell left New Years eve 1973, Gary Moore left in the summer of '74"
So there ya have it!
This is a great track and Thin Lizzy are probably the most underrated band of all time.

Hey mister, can I sing the blues?
Hey mister, do you think it's gonna snow?
Hey mister, my heart belongs to Glasgow
Hey mister, can I ask a question or two?
Hey mister, what are we supposed to do?
Children abandoned and left to America
Children forsaken in Ethiopia
Hey mister, so you think it's gonna snow?
What about the children though?

My favorite Lizzy track!!
Killer track! One of my fav Lizzy.
Used to put this on the juke box in my local all the time when it was a b side to Whiskey In The Jar ........memories...Love Lizzy
Stunningly beautiful
Thin Lizzy is a really great band. Legendary
Sitamoia was the B side of the Lizzy single Little Darlin' also with a blistering slide solo from Gary Moore.
GREAT !
Brillaint!! These Lizzy gems brighten up my day. OK cat among the pidgeons now. Anyone got the live versions of Bad Reputation & Opium Trail that was on the "Live Killers" ep?
Rock On!!
yes i got
My God ... this song is a classic. And I've only heard it now, end of 2017.
How terrible this wasn't on a Lizzy album.
It WAS on an album, but it was a compilation, called "Remembering, Part 1", released when Lizzy transferred from the Decca label to Vertigo/
it was
This might man Phil Lynott and all his boys in Thin Lizzy. Phil was The Hero, The Wildman, The Warrier, The Leader, The Story Teller, The Poet, The Man Up Front, The Rocker. The man who told you about the past, the present and the future. I have received some up to date news on Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott the very great man himself. I have heard it from a very reliable source that Phil along with Rory Gallagher, James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix, Robert William Gary Moore, and John Henry Bonham are playing gigs 7 nights a week in the Kingdom Hall and are packing the place out, most nights Jesus is up at the front having a great time rocking out. God had to remind the boys about the 7th day that it should be a day of rest, they are thinking about this but are having so much fun play they are still playing every night.
I bet you trump was not allowed to attend. --- I forgot , that is in the soon to become future.
Indication of how varied Lizzy were.
In the very early days, yes, yes they were. They were magical.

Twas Gary, I had "Remembering pt1" on cassette sometime before November 1975
The liner notes of the Remaster of Vagabonds of the western world confirms this and "Little Darling" were recorded with gary moore in 1974 and these are the only two tracks they recorded, not counting bbc sessions.
Brilliant 😊
I don't own the boxset, but I've seen many reviews of it and they all say it's Gary Moore. Plus, I know Moore played it live with the band the first time he was in Lizzy. I think it was recorded the same time as "Little Darling" which was definitely with Moore. I'm not 100% certain its Moore, but most evidence is telling me it is.
It's Moore
Gary Moore recorded this and Little Darling when he joined Thin Lizzy in 74 after Eric Bell left. Brian Downey confirmed it to me one night in Slattery's pub Dublin, he used to join a Lizzy tribute band onstage
I love it!!!
This song was also on the double album release called The Collection put out by Castle Communications in November 1985.
Love that growling Ricky sound! Shit hot song by a shit hot band!
Sitamoia Giddi Gadda Aga 🙁
English Translation of the Gaelic Lyrics
Bridge:
Oh child, you are my heart
Oh love, you are my soul
Oh darling, don't leave me again
Verse 1:
You came into my life, really turned me on
Couldn't stand the heat and then you were gone
You were the one, one in a million
Still I'm alone, sitting alone
Sitting at home
Chorus:
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Verse 2:
I should have learned my lesson, all those times before
You'd think I'd realize but then you came back for more
You were the one, one in a million
Still I'm alone, sitting alone
Sitting at home
Chorus:
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Bridge (in Irish):
A leanbh, is tú mo chroí (Oh child, you are my heart)
A ghrá, is tú mo anam (Oh love, you are my soul)
A stór, ná fág mé arís (Oh darling, don't leave me again)
Verse 3:
You'd think I'd learn my lesson, all those times before
You'd think I'd realize but then you came back for more
You were the one, one in a million
Still I'm alone, sitting alone
Sitting at home
Chorus:
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Outro:
Sitamoia, sitamoia
Sitamoia, sitamoia
@rberbill Confirmed this is the late Gary Moore on guitar...Lizzy Irish Rock Rules! It hits your soul hard!
Great.sons.great.guitars
A truly brilliant track. Quite poignant even in 2024 too.
Is this the greatest rocking song of all times, it is there with the Rocker & Little Darling, Phil & his boys rocking like wild bangalores The Lizzy & Rory Gallagher & His band produce music that will be listened to and talked about in 754 years time and I am taken all bets on this, they will be talked about in the same terms as the greatest masters of art. Their music and works are poetry in motion> Phil & Rory were the most human of human beings.
Please See humanity in all of US WHO try to be
I saw Lizzy at the National Stadium in Dublin doing this song as a three piece with Eric Bell, that's where it originated from but not sure it's Eric's sound on this recording?
When I did a Google search for performances of 'Si do mhamo i' it turned out to be the most rousing Gaelic number imaginable, but aside from the title word (wish I understood Gaelic) I don't get the impression that the Lizzy track really borrows its chant from the Irish tune. Anyone have other thoughts or clues? This is just such a stellar and unexpected composition and performance - thanks again to blacksabfan!
It is Phil working with his art.
I'm scraping at my memory cells. I think there were 2 songs with Gary
This one and "Little Darling" (I know that for sure) whether Gary did any more or not I dont know. Most of the songs were with Eric
I have the Remembering album. It's Gary Moore - obviously double-tracked.
Think its Bell, could be wrong, Bell played on Vagabonds...
@thecupdidit Theres a statue of him in Dublin. He's from Ireland.
Yeah, I was under the impression that wasn't an official release. I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the info and I'll fix it.
Great fade out solo by GM at the end........ always sorry that faded out too soon.
@clockworkmarmalade It's on the recent remaster of Vagabonds.
Drums are awesome, Mark Nauseef really killed it !!!!!!!
HAHAHA! just seeing if you were paying attention 🙂
What does Sitamoia mean though ??
Yeah, Opium Trail for sure is going up eventually. I've already posted "Dear Miss Lonely Hearts" from Live Killers.
I easily could. I'll get around to doing that sometime today or tomorrow.
I'm not sure you got the lineup right. On Sitamoia, it's Phil, Brian and Eric. Gary is doing some of the lead guitar, but is not yet a member. I could be wrong, but that's my knowledge. The same goes for (I think) Little Darling
ahh right, thanks. Good knowledge there lol. Forgive me im 17 lol, Ive played Lynotts bass at Philomenas house though, im a pretty hardcore fan though :)
@blacksabfan its an african chat, but hes saying Sitamoia, Céad eh an arigead .
I think you mean Andy Gee and John Cann (or DuCann). Those guys came after this song was recorded in the studio and played it live during the brief time they were in Lizzy.
That said, I still think this is Gary Moore. I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.
Was John DuCann in Atomic Rouster?
@bgclarke Exactly, that's where I first heard it.
I want this song badly! Is there a possibility to download it from somewhere?
And the song remanes the same,,,,!
Is that Gealic at the begginig
im pretty sure this came after the eric bell era, they had those two guitarists in (there names escape me) i thought they did this track?
please correct me if im wrong
How would you (phonetically) pronounce s’ chuirfeadh?
OK,Where do I start..This version does not feature Gary Moore. Being from the remembering album, Lynott rerecorded it with Gorham and Ure on guitar while on touring hiatus with hepatitis and due to Record company legality's they were never credited on the album cover !Its all explained in Harry Dohertys brilliant book 'The Boy's Are Back In Town' Great Song,Phil got away with saying 'Shit' by using Gaelic phonetics to fool Decca Rec executives ha ha but it was a fabricated word all along !...Brilliant !
You are wrong andrewbroughton65. The correct information appears directly under the video, written by blacksabfan - we salute you!
wtf? why not release this?
If you're musicially dyslexic, that would make me musically illiterate, which is true; I can't read music. I can play by ear decently enough to bang a song out after some trial and error though.
Sí do mhaimeó í, an cailleach an airgid!! - She's your granny. the hag with the money!!!!!
please please translate
@ThinlizzyBitch WITCHES< BRITCHES< SABRRRRRRIIIIINNNNNA!!!!!!!
WHYS EVERYONE KEEP SAYING HES IRISH? GLASGOWS IN SCOTLAND! :s
He was born in England and raised in Ireland.
Fucking bob geldof ripped off Phil "Hey mister do you think it's gonna snow"
"And there won't be any snow in Africa this christmas"
albeit in a more cheesy manner.
That's a stretch brudda
Too much bla bla bla here! :) Just gettin' high listen to this shit
Love this song until the guitar solo. It seems out of place.
