When I listen to this song, it brings me back to when Mae, The Spill Canvas and This Day and Age used to tour in my city. I had so many good memories from each and every one of their songs.
Wow. I remember the first time I heard this song and my heart shattered. All these years later, no other piece of music has brought it to this level. Full disclosure, I was a teenager when i first heard this lol.
This song is one of the only songs that even though I haven't felt this way, this guys voice makes me feel it. He makes my heart hurt as though its broken a million times into a million little microscopic pieces. Ughh
So good still. Never got s chance to see you live but don’t go a month without blasting SC on my ride home. Come tour the Midwest. If you build it they will come.
Man the memories that this song brings back are crazy. Fuck getting old, I'd give anything to be 16 again cause this is all it reminds me of. Amazing version though, just made my night!
@Traumweltleben Well, this is electric. It's an electric acoustic. On the album, it's played with a mic'd acoustic. Playing it live and plugged like this takes much of the beauty out of the nice Martin he's playing.
had a buddy that got "heavens not that a place that you go when you die, its that moment in life when you actually feel alive" he's not even a spill canvas fan but he loved the lyrics and got them on his rib cage
@KassidyGordon I was super stoked beyond belief when they played the electric version live for us a few months back. I was right on the stage so I could see the setlist, and when I read it I freaked out. The guitarist laughed at me and was like 'shhhh it's a secret.' And I told this girl behind me and she freaked out too. It was an awesome treat.
And there's three, count 'em three Children playing on the beach They were eager to learn, To be taught and to teach There's Veronica She's biting her lip As she watches the waves turn white at the tip And there's Vada Radiating with joy And luckily she still can't stand the sight of a boy And lastly there's Dade His hair dances in the wind And he's wondering what love is And why it has to end And he can't understand How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends His mother whispers quietly... Heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive So live for the moment And take this advice, live by every word Love is just a hoax so forget anything that you have heard And live for the moment now And there's three, count 'em three Children growing on the beach They were eager to learn, To be taught and to teach There's Veronica She's licking her lips As she waits for her real, first passionate kiss And there's Vada Can't admit her jealousy Of her sister Veronica, and how she's so pretty (and how she's so pretty) Lastly there's Dade Still sitting on the dock Ponders his life, and he skips his rocks And he wonders when his father will return But he's not coming back And he can't understand How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends His mother whispers quietly... Heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive So live for the moment And take this advice, live by every word Love is just a hoax so forget everything that you have heard (forget everything) And there's three, count 'em three Children missing from the beach They were eager to learn, To be taught and to teach But the sad thing Is that they never lived passed the age of fifteen Due to neglect from their mother Who was bed ridden by her ex-lover, their father She didn't even notice, or pay much attention As the tide came in and swept her three into the ocean Now all her advice, it seems useless No, heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you touch her and you feel alive So live for the moment And take this advice, live by every word Love's completely real, so forget anything that you've heard And live for the moment now
@fendrguitar10995 Record management is a tough thing to deal with. All management wants Top-40 pop. Some artists will stand up for them self but sadly that never ends well.
@IwouldRatherStayOut I agree with most of what you said, how the acoustic feel is better. But what you are saying basically is that they sold out because you don't like their new music, I don't agree with that. Do you know them personally? Did they say they were making music for money?
made me cry the first time i heard it. i wish my lyrics where this meaningful, it saddens me that music like this cant be publicized instead of the upbeat garbage we're brainwashed into liking. listening to this make me wonder why i even listen to lady gaga
@musicsaveslives44 Record management. This does not sell as many copies as some meaningless pop song that you will play out in 2 months. It's the same reason most other things are now designed to fail. It's all about the bottom line, how much income and how long until they need to buy more.
@emismiles Same here, after I discovered TSC I kept on comparing them to the music I listen to, and as the same, I compared them to Lady Gaga and she's good but TSC are inspiring!
@Thewriter317 Yeah, you're right, I may be a little spiteful towards The Spill Canvas for changing their sound. I guess nobody really knows unless they know them. Happy Holidays!
They are truly talented but I'm afraid if they become really popular, they will develop this diva attitude. But Nick is such a talented person how it he not blowing up the charts!
Are you kidding me? Bro, try Homesick. I can't do it. That's probably one of the only Spill Canvas songs where both the rhythm and the speed screw me over. That intro..
@etmet1 What? John Mayer is far beyond Nicks level. Im a bigger fan at spill canvas music than mayers, but i still have some sense - everybody know John Mayer is god in the music work, when it come to talent and practice.
@CRyan881 so making music just to make more money isn't selling out? lol these guys used to make music about how they actually felt, now I'm not saying that their new music can't be an expression of happiness, but where'd the acoustic feel to it go? Way too over-produced if you ask me
After 8 years and probably a thousand listens, this song still gives me goosebumps. Purely amazing.
True 2020 December
@@Delilahriveras 2023 April
@@echooscar5241 still here =)
After all these years, still a beautiful piece of music. Stay safe out there, god bless you all.
This is quite possibly the best live performance of any song I've ever heard.
Agree
This is probably one of the most emotional songs. I love when songs tell a story. That's it. I'm learning this on my guitar.
The most beautiful song I've ever heard, lyrics and music and everything. Nothings touched my heart like this.
When I listen to this song, it brings me back to when Mae, The Spill Canvas and This Day and Age used to tour in my city. I had so many good memories from each and every one of their songs.
Definitely one of the best songs to come out of this generation of music, This song gives me chills
this gave me goosebumps and brought me to tears.
Wow. I remember the first time I heard this song and my heart shattered. All these years later, no other piece of music has brought it to this level. Full disclosure, I was a teenager when i first heard this lol.
I miss these guys! So much! Thanks for the share!
Best live performance by a mile. To th 8th power.
always come back to this for the emotional and vocal performance
This song is one of the only songs that even though I haven't felt this way, this guys voice makes me feel it. He makes my heart hurt as though its broken a million times into a million little microscopic pieces. Ughh
The ending of this is outstanding! Cold chills $
the best performance of the tide by far
Forever my favorite band
This song is never over. I can
Not very many artists are this amazing live...
Nick sings it even better than the recorded version =)
His voice, this song. Always goosebumps3. So much passion.
3:19 Dade is in the crowd going through it!
How have I not discovered this version sooner. ♡♡
Such an awesome guitarist, lyricist, singer, composer but man... wow ohh so modest... True rockstar. I salute you Nick! :)
So good still. Never got s chance to see you live but don’t go a month without blasting SC on my ride home. Come tour the Midwest. If you build it they will come.
Dude chills
Man the memories that this song brings back are crazy. Fuck getting old, I'd give anything to be 16 again cause this is all it reminds me of. Amazing version though, just made my night!
musical and amazing!
Still in love(:
His voice
Thanks for putting this on youtube. :)
I love the ton of that guitar!
@Traumweltleben Well, this is electric. It's an electric acoustic. On the album, it's played with a mic'd acoustic. Playing it live and plugged like this takes much of the beauty out of the nice Martin he's playing.

This version is so much better than the new edited version they have.
Absolutely amazing. Thanks for the upload.
Listening in 2021
I felt this though my hear and bones. It's so powerful.
absolutely the best band ever..
That's what I love about them :)
Nick is flawless. Period.
That is awesome.
Amazing video. Thanks for this
Love love love!
@SilentAssassin333 out of all the
covers none compares to how great he is :)
@KassidyGordon I was super stoked beyond belief when they played the electric version live for us a few months back. Man, this guy is a great musician.
That vibrato is super human!
So so so good
wow...even more powerful here than the studio version. i got chills from this one...
Elegant voice: "Thank you."
Lol I love this song.
Love it
And there's three, count 'em three
Children playing on the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach
There's Veronica
She's biting her lip
As she watches the waves turn white at the tip
And there's Vada
Radiating with joy
And luckily she still can't stand the sight of a boy
And lastly there's Dade
His hair dances in the wind
And he's wondering what love is
And why it has to end
And he can't understand
How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends
His mother whispers quietly...
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love is just a hoax so forget anything that you have heard
And live for the moment now
And there's three, count 'em three
Children growing on the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach
There's Veronica
She's licking her lips
As she waits for her real, first passionate kiss
And there's Vada
Can't admit her jealousy
Of her sister Veronica, and how she's so pretty (and how she's so pretty)
Lastly there's Dade
Still sitting on the dock
Ponders his life, and he skips his rocks
And he wonders when his father will return
But he's not coming back
And he can't understand
How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends
His mother whispers quietly...
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love is just a hoax so forget everything that you have heard (forget everything)
And there's three, count 'em three
Children missing from the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach
But the sad thing
Is that they never lived passed the age of fifteen
Due to neglect from their mother
Who was bed ridden by her ex-lover, their father
She didn't even notice, or pay much attention
As the tide came in and swept her three into the ocean
Now all her advice, it seems useless
No, heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you touch her and you feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love's completely real, so forget anything that you've heard
And live for the moment now
The goosebumps, the goosebumps
One of those song that even tho I ain't never felt that feeling, but
@AznBaller4Life Yes there is an electric live version! They played it when I saw them a few weeks ago. It was really awesome.
4 people never forgot everything they ever heard
its so beautiful
I might cry...maybe not...(shnifffle)
doonttt think i've heard a version of this song that i dont like! pure amaze =]
Nick Thomas gives me hope for this world.
@saftey182 Same here. Amazing lyrics to such a nice groove. 5*
Does anyone have the guitar tab for this? All tabs require a capo and that's not how Nick plays it.
@IwouldRatherStayOut I'm glad there is still nice people on here! haaha Happy Holidays!
12 years...
"heavens not a place you go where you die, its that moment in life when you actually feel alive" my favorite quote..ever :] The spill canvas is love
Does anybody know which brand of guitar he's playing?
I've seen videos where he's playing Fender, but that looks like a Martin
I realize you asked this a year ago, but i just saw your comment and thought i would answer. 99% sure it is Martin DCX1E
i agree
@fendrguitar10995 Record management is a tough thing to deal with. All management wants Top-40 pop. Some artists will stand up for them self but sadly that never ends well.

This shit gives me chills
lust a prima vista is super easy and so much fun
Remember this.song from like 5th grade

That guy at 3:21 is my spirit bro
@emismiles Same here, after I discovered TSC I kept on comparing them to the music I listen to, and as the same, I compared them to Lady Gaga and she's good but TSC are inspiring!
@Thewriter317 Yeah, you're right, I may be a little spiteful towards The Spill Canvas for changing their sound. I guess nobody really knows unless they know them. Happy Holidays!
what are the chords
getting a tattoo of song lyricss
@Traumweltleben yeah, but the acoustic one is sooooo much better:)
Named my son after this song.
They are truly talented but I'm afraid if they become really popular, they will develop this diva attitude. But Nick is such a talented person how it he not blowing up the charts!
@Thewriter317 Same here "D
Is it just me or does Nick look kinda like an Ewok... lol love these guys!
Don't know where to get tabs but its really not that hard! GL!
Are you kidding me? Bro, try Homesick. I can't do it. That's probably one of the only Spill Canvas songs where both the rhythm and the speed screw me over. That intro..
I have the 3rd choirs tattooed on my legs
But heaven is real, live wisely
come england(:
@etmet1 What? John Mayer is far beyond Nicks level. Im a bigger fan at spill canvas music than mayers, but i still have some sense - everybody know John Mayer is god in the music work, when it come to talent and practice.
It's really not a difficult song to learn actually.
If you want difficult, try Dust Storm, Bracelets or Lust a Prima Vista
Don't care how it sounds.. I lose myself in this
@turtlesinabox they sold out :'( I'm very upset
Good luck, it's pretty hard...
@xtheatrexqueenx Get in line ;-)
that guitar is not tuned to standard because that little riff is too hard to play in that key in standard tuning
@Traumweltleben wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee???????????????'
2 people missed the like botton..
2020 squad? anyone?
2022 here
still here too bro, always will be.
Hmm do i dare to say the lyrics is just as good as John Mayers ?
Nerver gets old XD
@CRyan881 so making music just to make more money isn't selling out? lol these guys used to make music about how they actually felt, now I'm not saying that their new music can't be an expression of happiness, but where'd the acoustic feel to it go? Way too over-produced if you ask me
