Website: www.yakgear.com Our Store: www.amazon.com/shop/KayakDIY YakGear has been making great priced paddlesports and fishing products for several years. We have been a long time customer and felt like sharing their latest products with you. We are excited to see an affordable keel guard hit the market as well as the crate well and many more accessories. The cool thing about YakGear is many times when you call you end up talking with the owner, Bill. All their products are designed to be easy to install. Their various kits typically have everything you need in the package for install. Yak Gear makes rigging easy and affordable.
"The holy grail" indeed! I think the standard milk crate is the first accessory just about every kayak owner gets, or starts out with! Lots of great products!!!
I don't overload my rig with accessories, but one of the best (imo) things I've added and use in the shallows is a YakGear Stakeout Pole, tethered to my anchor trolley using the YakGear anchor leash. I have a couple of videos with the stakeout pole being used ;)
Wow!.. they still haven't add a black color to the numbers on the measuring sticks.. is a lovely product, i have 2 of them. but you can tell that they never listen to their customers feedback, or they don't care.
Hey KD, has anyone every tried Ridgid Toolboxes like their Pro Toolbox line? What do you think of using those instead of dropping $120+ on a blackpack. Heck, I'm looking at the Ridgid Pro Gear Cart and modding into a kayak pak
You could use that. I have used several things. Just depends on the kayak. These are my favorite though. They are air tight and waterproof. Great for on deck dry storage. If kayak flips you don’t lose gear. www.amazon.com/dp/B0002H3S5U/?tag=a41a9-20
Not sure. Maybe message them. Else consider Gator Guard. I tested Gator Guard and love it. Not a full keel solution, but one patch covers 3-4ft of bow and stern. It cures like fiberglass. Dang tough stuff. See my vid.
100degrees no but I encourage you to go over to Facebook and ask YakGear via their page. The owner Bill is a super cool guy. He likely will give you an answer. That little camo boat they hauled off the showroom via a dual CTUG kayak cart. Pretty cool.
irishlep64 from how it was put on the demo kayak, I think it was designed for the front and back only. Not the entire length. I wish someone would come out for one like that, that was cheap.
I love the Channel but I think given the title of your channel and the somewhat short history of the kayak fishing movement. It started as a DIY spirit. It was gritty and blue collar. We were spending winters as kids trying to steal milk crates from 711s and try out our newest ideas. I use one of the designs to this day. We were pvc’d to the tits and just loved to tinker. I dislike this whole commercialization of the industry because of icast and the influx of investment into the industry. It is now a luxury sport and paddles will soon be extinct all together. I would expect this channel, of all the other channels out there, would be resistant to this prebuilt bullshit.
ChesaFreak Boys Fishing not everyone is able to build. We only film this once a year. The makers of products like this I know and have talked to in detail. They are DIY enthusiasts simply making production products of their diy creations. You can still diy. It doesn’t impact those of us that want to DIY things on our kayaks. I personally believe that there are more opportunities not less. There are cheap kayaks, middle priced kayaks, and high priced kayaks. I think it’s a good thing that there are more pedal drives on the market because not everyone can paddle. There are many medical conditions which prevent people from being able to paddle. The paddle sports industry has increased options not decreased. The last iCAST video drops today then it will be back to project builds and adventure videos. I actually have a pretty cool DIY idea coming up. I am also planning a meet up with another popular TH-camr and his fans. We will be visiting some natural springs in Florida come September. I believe my job is to simply keep people informed of options and hopefully at times spark creativity and that DIY spirit that you speak of. Running a channel isn’t easy. There are lots of costs associated with running one. Going to events like this help me develop relationships with companies so I can show viewers more content and reduce my cost. This year is the first year where I would say I’m actually making money on the channel. Previous years we had such high expenses that we really weren’t making any money. I do this because I love it, but I put enough hours and money into it that it wouldn’t be fair to my family if I wasn’t making income from it so I do have to treat it as a business. I also work at a hospital a few days in the week and run multiple websites to help fund the channel operations. Anyway, just thought I would give you some info about the channel and my thoughts. I’m always interested in hearing viewers input on the direction of the channel. The last iCAST video “as far as I know” will be today. 😉

Do you have any idea who made that little camo boat in this video?

It is a new product. Soon to be available via their site. ICAST is all about new products and prototypes.
The keel guard at $25/ft will not be cheap
