For those who are wondering if this is not a detour but rather most likely a storage train! As far as I know The Cuesta tunnels cannot fit double stacks. It is a good possibility they were either stored in San Luis Obispo, Guadalupe yard, or a siding before the Cuesta grade. The Chatsworth tunnels can fit them. As for the future of the coastline it is currently receiving major upgrades so they can run more traffic! You’re welcome
@@amtrakboy4155 I believe so! Double stacks ran on the coast until like 2000 or somewhere there so idk for sure if they can fit in the Cuesta tunnels but I am 90% sure it was a storage train
No, they weren't stored anywhere on the Coastline. They made the full trip, I was quite amazed because I also always heard the stories of how "Cuesta tunnels could not fit double stacks" but I remember the buzz when this move happened, everyone thought it was a mistake when it was at Watsonville, but by the time it hit Paso Robles it was clear it was going to make the full trip.
@@F59PHItrainfreak I think until about 2002 or so, SP and UP frequently ran intermodal trains on this line. It would be nice to see more freight other than the current empty autoracks and baretables.

So those double stacks can fit into Chatsworth’s they stoped it due to the Really unstable tracks around Guadalupe correct?

@@PaulSP from what I heard, we will be receiving double stacks hopefully that is true

Very rare catch, but they were a common sight when Southern Pacific operated this line.
This Train is South Bound If I am Correct IBRLC nice Shot.
When was this? I heard there is gonna be more freight traffic on the coast
That is one dirty engine!
Looks like the daily LA Lathrop consisit
Is this just a detour?
