Here's a soccer tutorial on hand throws for goalkeepers. It's important as a keeper to master hand throws since it will be used at many occasions during a soccer match.
There are 4 types of hand throws for soccer goalkeepers. The first one, is the underhand throw to the player's feet. The second one, is the underhand throw when the player is in motion. The third one, is the overhand throw to the player's feet and the fourth one is the overhand throw when the player is in motion.
You want to make sure that when you throw the ball, you have a good grip on the ball with your goalkeeper gloves. You want to be careful to not give the ball away to a player of the opposite team.
Here's a recap of each throw:
1 - Underhand throw to the feet: You want to advance with the ball and look around to see if there are players of the opposite team. If there aren't players nearby, you can kick the ball away. However, if there are players around, you will want to make a hand throw.
If you're holding the ball with your right hand, you want to put your left leg in front, all while bending your knees slightly. Then, you bring the ball back and throw it by rolling it to the ground to your teammate's feet.
2 - Underhand throw in motion: With this throw, you will be rolling the ball to your teammate, as he his moving on the field. You will need to send the ball slightly in front of him to make sure he gets the ball as he his running forward. That will make a great occasion for the attack to get going for your team.
3 - Overhand throw to the feet: With an overhand throw you can bring more power to it. Therefore, you can reach a player that is far away on the soccer field. It's good to aim at the feet of your teammate to make sure he easily gets the ball and can continue on with the play.
4 - Overhand throw in motion: This is the same principle as the previous throw, as you will be able to reach your teammates further down the pitch. You want to place the ball about ten to fifteen feet in front of your defender so that he can launch the forward momentum.
It's important for goalkeepers to practice hand throws regularly!
