I'm not entirely sure what Star Wars and sea shanties have in common, but they do work well together. The Imperial Storm Troopers in coolie hats made me chuckle, and so did the very Terrestrial looking deer in one of the other pictures...unless they're the famous nerfs that Han Solo herded before he became a spice trader!
My boy star killer just vibing to some shanties whilst pulling down star destroyers. Nice mix by the way. I discovered a few of my favourites through theese.
The first song would also have it’s tune set to the song, “the Irish brigade” a confederate Irish volunteer division. I say this because I recognized the tune, as there is an album called the songs of the Irish Americans during the civil war, one I’ve listened to extensively, the 2nd part of the album is from songs dedicated from both sides, whereas the first part is largely union based Irish American songs.
It's more likely the other way around. Many tunes were rewritten to hold significance for troops, with the Irish stealing quite a few of their own songs for that purpose.
Not to worry :) I suppose I was trying to say that I chose the thumbnail because the images used are all Star Wars artwork. So not a completely random choice.
Ahoy Captain! I just wanted to say thank you! Last week was finals week, and while I was studying for them, I would play your videos. This one is probably my favorite (especially because I'm a Star Wars fan) and I can't help but listen to all of these on repeat! Thank you so much for helping me get through a super stressful finals week! Happy holidays, and may the Force be with you!
Thanks Jesse, really appreciate the feedback. By the way, I know you're from Ontario, not Quebec, but you may be interested to give this one a listen if you haven't done already. Unlike me, you should be able to understand what they're saying :) th-cam.com/video/72DoUjR2q9s/w-d-xo.html
Haha :) Not to worry. To be honest, I was getting a little bored of compiling the same type of images for so long, so thought I'd experiment a bit with this one. Many thanks for listening
@@CaptainHalyard now I’m imagining some imperial officer breaking away and using his ship as a pirate vessel. Raiding imperial trading, evading patrols, and raiding planets.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with Legends, but there was an Imperial admiral who became a pirate. Her name was Leonia Tavira, and she was rather unstable.
A Star Wars nerd and a sea shanty connoisseur?
Sign me up.
Stormtroopers and officers working the reactor singing the tasks away.
Same here. 😆
I'll admit to doing a double take and verifying what the video actually was when I saw the image.

another earth
IIRC nerfs are a bovine/buffalo analogue. They're raised for meat, leather etc.

I'm now picturing the crew of some obscure Rebel frigate singing sea shanties as they go about their tasks onboard.
I love the black velvet band. It's one of my favorite songs.
The folk music community on TH-cam may be small, but it always brightens my day how wholesome it is! Thanks for yet another amazing video :D
Dirty Old Town is so good, it's just one of those you'll sing to yourself all day long.

"all the troops. both sides."
A good one just as the other sets, only... Bodh’aktan's ultra American accent while playing Irish music haha
Thank you for blessing us with yet another awesome mix!
You're most welcome, thanks for the continued support :)
Vol.9 is my favorite. 😍🥰. Favorite songs. I love the lyrics. I Fought the law and the law won. Love it.😎💕💕💕💕👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏
Bit of a odd cover image for a video full of shanties, not complaining but just thought it interesting
All will become clear when watching :)
@@CaptainHalyard I don't get it.

I mean, the clones do need something to do on the venators and aclamators.
It's like you thought.. hey, if listening to shanties and folk music isn't white and nerdy enough, have some Star Wars imagery on me! 🤣
the samurai Star Wars combo just looks absolutely awesome

The best thing that happened this Monday. Thank you!
You're most welcome. Many thanks for listening :)

Good man, and good plan :)
Good stuff--helping the work day go by more enjoyably!

Space shanties
Star War really make it eh
Out of interest, how do you mean exactly? :)
not sure what star wars has to do with sea shanties but sure, the music is nice
Good Lord, are there _any_ Irish Civil War songs that didn't steal sea shanty melodies?
Nope, not one.
ngl i was kinda confused by the cover image
but thats not what matters the music matters the most to me
when will u add
"david coffin - roll the old chariot along"
in one of these
And we Jedi / Sith can't be pirates. YES WE CAN! 🏴☠️🤘
As well as the Mandolorians
What do ye think are the rebels?!

4:01 yogscast made a parody of this long ago
Give me top melody song list
Star Wars?
Well Star Ships are ships all the same
สภาพนี้มันไม่ใช่สตาร์วอร์แล้วนี่มัน starcraft
dont put background music, it ruins the art of sea shanties and traditional songs
