    Thank you for an informative, historical, and well produced video. For me, it's the history that brings me closer to the surroundings and their relational importance to what I am viewing. You should be narrating nationally televised historical productions- that's no joke. The history, the video footage and the professional, yet personal narration add much enjoyment to watching your videos.

      THanks! I've been writing and producing video professionally for 30+ years- mainly for corporate clients. Of course, I'd love to work for Nat Geo or one of the Discovery networks so I could produce a video with a budget to cover the material as it should be covered. My videos don't have a budget. Ft. Union did take about 100 man hours and for that I got Less than $9 in revenue in 4 months. So, if you have any connections with the Big Boys-- let's talk. BTW- check out the rest of my "Road Less Traveled Series" on this channel.

      @@TheWestisBig if I had any connections you would be hired today. Working for corporate clients should look good on your resume- after all Nat Geo and Discovery are corporations. You may have to be bold and send them a demo. My training is in corporate communicates (promotional, informational, educational and training media) as well as Information Technology. The most important thing I can tell you if you decide to send out a demo is to make your packaging standout from the others (color, texture, visual). They probably get hundreds or even thousands of packages per week and they most likely all look the same, a brown box, a white, brown, or manila envelope, etc. A brown postal envelope is not going to excite them into seeing whats inside. You have to peak their interest to take a look at what you send them. You only get one shot at it, go for the gusto!

      Sounds like we do the same type of Corp Comm work. I've done quite a bit of instructional and curriculum design for mostly Large COs. as well as eLearning and IT Proj Mgt for large corps including Cisco.
      Corp Comm actually pays more than Nat Geo and the rest. Unless you own the project there is little money to be made- there is no reason for them to pay a decent wage because as you said lots of people want to work for them.
      That said, if you hire freelancers- I'm available.

      @@TheWestisBig , I decided to take a different path some years ago and went full-bore IT Technology. These days I telework full-time as a Systems Engineer, less hassle and great pay. However, I still get the itch now and again to create videos, that's why I admire your videos so much. I can tell you enjoy producing them, as did I. Of course, unless you produce videos, it's hard to imagine how much editing time there is in just a 10 minute video.. if you want it to look professional that is.

    I visited the Fort earlier around Aug 2019, I really enjoyed the visit, Wasnt sure what to expect but I liked it and the Historical signs all allround was intresting. However when I left I reviewd my Pictures I took, I Noticed the Start Fort. At the time I did not get a closer look or really pay attention it was there.
    But I did notice the SAME Shape of the Star Fort can be found all ofver the world they say from the earlie 1500's. So this means I have to go back and take a closer look. I liked this video !

    Just visited this amazing place 3/20. Thanks for a really good overview. The ranger at the visitor center was full of great information and the selection of relevant books was wide and interesting. Bought 2!

    You know more of these places off the beaten path than I do, but seeing the Santa Fe Trail reminded me of the Guernsey Ruts in Wyoming. I found that place fascinating. But I’m a history nerd...

    I couldn't figure out what pass you were talking about at first. Glorieta Pass, well... Glorieta is now a Baptist summer camp and they pronounce the e as a "short" e, not a "hard" e like you do. I've never been to summer camp there. Not raised a Baptist. But I've driven past it. And my ex-wife was raised a Baptist. She managed to escape! Haha. Oh, her parents were really way nice folks, for sure. But anyhow, I've known many, many Baptists here in the panhandle of Texas and everyone pronounces it with that short "e" and I'm thinking you don't give a hoot! haha

      I had no idea. Just pronounced it the way the Park’s rangers did.

    How did the train make the fort obsolete?

    • @TheWestisBig
      @TheWestisBig 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By ending the need for the Santa Fe Trail. The train was a much more efficient way of transporting goods and people. The Fort was there in large part, to protect those using the trail.
