Holy crap that was boring. It felt more like a list to sell who they think is an alltime great player moreso than an all time dunker list. They didn't even show some of Kobes best dunks - or Lebrons tbh. How is this made in 2019 yet it shows no love to Jason Richardson? I get there were a lot of in game dunks on this list, but they were showing contest dunks too. Which brings me to Zach Lavine. It's time to consider him top 10 - top 5 really. This isn't recency bias anymore either - his best were 3 years ago. It's honestly a shame. Neither of them even got honorable mentions. I'm going to submit a complaint to the creator of that video.

Jason Richardson was an amazing contest dunker, but he was not that good at dunking in game. Mainly because he could only dunk off two feet and with his right foot in front
Im a die hard Bulls fan and absolutely love Rose, but i can think of at least 20 other dunkers that should be ahead of him. I -WISH- he would of been more of a dunker a la westbrook, but he did more layups. His career dunks are like 104 i believe, and yeah he had a about 10 good/flashy ones, there are many other candidates that shouldve gotten it

What did Charles Barkley say about Allen Iverson? "If Allen Iverson is 'the answer,' it must have been stupid question." I think the only one this list is missing might be Dr Dunkenstein. Otherwise, i think it's pretty spot on.

Dr. J was unbelievable!! I had the Dr. J poster from the late 1970s early 80s. He was my favorite and made dunking and flying high popular in basketball. Especially when he started his professional career in the ABA.

1. The "Reign Man" is former NBA all-star Shawn Kemp.
2. The Supersonics were basically robbed from Seattle due to owner shenanigans about ten years ago. It had nothing to do with fan support for the team but I believe the City denied the new owner's request for the taxpayers to fund a new arena. The owner responded by moving the team to Oklahoma City; they're now the Oklahoma City Thunder. That being said, Seattle is one of the best sports towns in the United States and will get an NBA team very soon. This is especially true because the city was just awarded an NHL expansion team and is building a venue for it, and NHL & NBA teams usually share arenas.
3. Usually great dunkers don't do more than a couple of NBA dunk contests, so no one's really won a whole bunch of them. It's a fun side event at All-Star Weekend but typically once a great player has done it once or twice, they step aside for the next wave of young guys.
4. Vince Carter's legendary dunk, shown last in this video, happened in an actual game during the 2000 Summer Olympics, when he jumped over 7'2" (2.18 M) French centre Frederic Weis.

That 7 footer Vince Carter jumped over was an overseas blue chip prospect. He had a contract to play for a team after the Olympics. He was let go after that game and he never played in the NBA. I believe that’s the only instance in basketball history where getting posterized ended someone’s NBA career before it got started. Lol

Dr. J was the one that broke the mold ... when he first showed up at Rucker Park in NY where all the who is who in basketball showed up for pick-up games, it was after his first year in college at the University of Massachusetts. People said who is this kid we ain't never heard of him. But after a couple of games, people were so mesmerized by his skills so much so that people used to get up on trees, on rooftop, and overpass ledges to see him perform ... there is a video bio of him on TH-cam if you care to see it and his impact on the likes of Magic, Jordan, Shaq, Zeke, and a whole host of NBA legends!

Players like Gerald Green were better than half on this list. He missed new dunkers such as Zach Lavine & Aaron Gordon. The reason he put some of these players that shouldn’t make the list is because they dunk in game often because they’re good enough to do so. Derrick Jones Jr. a player for the Heat has one in game dunk and it’s SO HIGH above the rim and he’s an incredible dunker. A more realistic top 10 would have Gerald Green, Zach Lavine, Derrick Jones Jr. instead if guys like Rose. The top 5 in this video was pretty safe for dunkers tho. I think Joseph had went towards in game dunkers instead of better and the best dunkers. And if you like dunking you should check out Zion Williamson, he’ll be in the NBA next season, but check out his HS highlights as well as College.

god dammit i swear Clyde Drexler may be the most underrated dunker ever. that alley oop he snatched out of the air............ one handed, was falling away from the basket and even cocked his arm back and threw it down with force. He could truly "Glyde" with amazing finesse and unreal body control. How about the dunk from nearly the foul line in a game? Put it in slow-mo. Its INSANE. One of the true freakish athletes in NBA history yet always in the shadow of MJ.

I live in Orlando and was lucky enough to see Shaq play in person many times. It wasn't like other players that "might" get a dunk in a game he was guaranteed to have multiple dunks like that every night.

You'll laugh at this statement when, in 10 or 20 years, some kid starts talking about how some 20 or 22 year old player who's fresh in the league is the "best of all time" in his mind.
To be considered a great dunker, you have to do it in games, against NBA defenders. Some people can make 100 free throws in a row in their driveway, doesn't make them an all-time great free throw shooter.

The record for winning the most dunk contests is Aaron Gordon.
Side note: Despite Toronto's short time in the league (since '95), they've had some of the greatest in-game dunkers of all time on their roster. Carter, T-Mac, Jamario Moon, DeRozan, Terrence Ross, list goes on.

On those dangerous Darryl Dawkins' dunks (say THAT 5 times fast!), he could have gotten hurt at least 4 times: 1.) Cutting his eyes/face with broken glass. 2.) Bashing his head/face with the now-loosened hoop. 3.) At best spraining an ankle/knee, at worst fracturing an ankle/leg after slipping in broken glass. Or 4.) Cutting both of his eyes and face while bashing his head and face with the now-loosened hoop and then fracturing BOTH of his ankles and legs and spraining BOTH knees after slipping in broken glass! Awesome dunk but he was extremely lucky that he didn't get seriously hurt!
