Great Video guys! First review I've watched in quite a while that had me truly amazed. I'm definitely going to be giving the full kit a go. Clear skies!
Wow, all of your videos are awesome! I've really enjoyed them! This review makes me want to get this tracker - I built a "barn door tracker" and had some success, but it can be very difficult to dial in the correct speed in the DC motor, and never really getting polar alignment perfect. I look forward to trying it myself! Thank you for your dedication in sharing your knowledge and art on TH-cam! Beautiful astrophotography!
Thanks a lot for this nice comment! We almost wanted to try building a barn door tracker 3 or 4 years ago, but were too afraid it would give us too many headaches..
@@GalacticHunter Oh it gave me headaches! Haha, but it was kind of fun, and really helped me understand the principles about tracking better, and it helped me get my first really nice shot of the milky way. So now I think I'm hooked! Thanks again for your many great videos, it has been an inspiration to spend some more time out there with the stars.
Definitely glad to hear that the two of you liked it. Thanks for the thorough review on the tracker! I suspect it will be my first tracker, although I'll probably go with the LX3 Set when it comes out, as I'll be saving up for a bit and it comes with an an optical sight, and is apparently even more precise. I'm definitely looking forward to giving such a go in the coming months ^_^
Great review! Seems a great budget tracker. I hope they release a laser polar finder. I know this device is a "no battery" concept, but laser is way more convinient, especially when using short tripod.
Hi, nice video thank you! Even if the Omegon Mini Track was designed by Cristian Fattinnanzi, this product is produced near Aveiro, Portugal. I payed recently a visit to the Astroshop warehouse to see some telescopes, I for my surprise they have a workshop nextdoor. I saw a big box plenty of these nice mounts. They also produce dobsonian telescopes and astroshotography cameras in the area (for Orion) :)

Aloha! I am so glad I found you! I've only watched about 5 videos of yours, but Ive loved all of them! You guys are doing a fantastic job! Keep the vids coming!
Looking at picking up the LX3 version for a trip. Have an NEQ6 but cannot manage to take as just too much weight. Hopefully get some good wide field shots.
Very nice display for a great tracker And the pictures were so amazing and i have a question, will we see coverage on your channel of Pentax like m3 markii or k70 with ogps-1 cameras that have star tracking feature?
I have the LX2 with the ballhead, it is very easy, lightweight. The polar finder is more than good enough, but you do need a clear view to Polaris. My tripod has a vertical scale in degrees, so the height setting can already be set from my latitude data
Thanks for a great review. I’ve been deciding weather to purchase one of these or spend a bit more on an Ioptron or Skywatcher Tracker with possible guide scope option. This does look like the least expensive way to get more involved with Astrophotography. Since you recorded this have you tried it with any longer lenses. I’d love to see if it would still give pinpoint stars with say a 200mm lens on a crop factor DSLR. Thanks again for an informative & fun review.
Thanks for the great video! My equipment setup is about 500g overweight for the mount - will it still work? I am looking to buy an affordable mount without having to do an extensive setup. Thanks!
Thanks, in that case we would recommend the iOptron Skytracker Pro, it's one of the most popular trackers out there and has a payload of 6.6 lbs: bit.ly/2QwxjfB
Thank you! We definitely can't wait to revisit M16, this time doing the Hubble Palette. Then we have to make sure to get M17 and M8 depending on which one won the votes for Episode 13 :)
@@GalacticHunter very cool! I finally got a clear sky to try out my first astronomy camera ZWO ASI294MC PRO with the ASIAIR. I imaged the cigar galaxy M82 then took a few shots at M16. Thank you Noel, it sure is often difficult to go out there with all our gear especially since it is very far from our home and with no service. We can't wait to get a house and be able to sometimes image from our backyard! As for the Noctilucent clouds, like Nikola said, I don't believe we can see these from Nevada.
@@GalacticHunter Such a pity to live so far south not to see them. I hope you both get a dream house with plenty of dark skies around... Hello, im on micro 4/3 and im shooting with an old 180mm F2.8. So it's a 360mm equivalent. How long should i be able to take exposure with this thing you think ? Merci les copains
Great video!! Can you disengage the mechansim before the 60min are over(for example to change camera orientation without dameging the gears)? Are there any problems tracking in portrait mode? And last question will it be more accurate with longer focal lenghts (135mm) than smaller electonic trackers like MSM Rotator or Vixen Polarie?
How can you polar align when the camera blocks the view? I cant even manage to see Polaris through the fiddly tube with no camera on. I used a laser pen to vaguely align but fitting the camera knocked it all hopeless off.
Salut! Désolé pour la chaine Francaise, on a pris du retard énorme par rapport au boulot / université et on a surtout pas voulu rater les videos régulieres sur cette chaine. On ne vas tarder à en poster une bientôt !
Did you have any issues regarding the spring setup? .... Somehow i have to setup the spring against to what the instructions suggets in order for the tracker to track the skies... Anf still, after 1 minute it stops tracking.... My setup is way below 2KG. I am doing something wrong for sure..... Dont know what though :/
Hey there, thanks for this rundown. Did you ever follow through with your idea to test this with a telephoto lens targeting a dso? That would be very helpful! Maybe you could get a LX3 version for that, and also include a review of the polar scope.
Great clear video , thanks. We will be buying a small country house in the dark skies of Almeria Spain soon I hope, and can not wait to use this on the sky. Manchester UK is not useful for astronomy, and I live under the north south, east west high jet lanes, its impossible. Being new to astrophotos, what do you mean by 1min x 30? does that mean you took 30 - 1 min exposures and then stacked that many??? Sorry if I sound dumb. :)
It feels so weird when people talk about the hassle of a big mount, the size of a big mount, the hassle of getting a big mount to work. But some never even mention the prise. They did. But for most of us I think the biggest problem is the cost. I will do anything to be able to have a big mount. I wouldn't care if it weighed 50kg. I wouldn't care about it being a hassle to set up, I wouldn't care if it requires power, but that is not the problem. The cost is. 😂
FINALLY, something I could really use! Lord knows I have more than enough lenses! 😁 Is there a discount code that we could use towards purchase???? I'm buying one regardless but every dollar saved counts.
