This song misleads ppl into thinking it's about drunk driving, but it's really about self-reliance. Drive is a metaphor for "steering" your life, and he's saying that he's been driven by "following the crowd" before and he thinks a lot of people are, but he's found that being driven by his own motivations and himself brings him happiness and understanding.
Well said, because I am one of those who thought it was about drinking and driving.I mean, come on it is so obvious from the lyrics that is what the normal listener would think upon hearing it. But your interpretation, lends a great way of looking at it from a different point of view. A great one at that.Kudos.After hearing your point, it really makes me rethink what I originally thought the song was about.
I see this song talking about anxiety and over coming it. Talking about fear of uncertainty and it controlling his life. But he finally decided to take over and "drive" himself instead of the fear.
Hmm really, because any one who has any intelligence at all would come to that conclusion after hearing this, and think that it is about not drinking and driving upon hearing the song.Because that is what it sounds like what it is about. " Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive" I don't know but to me that sends the message of " I don't want to drink and drive " but that's just what I took from it as many others have. But really like all music it is really all about what the listener interprets as.

For me, this song is about self motivation, or "driving" yourself to do something and not let everybody force you as well as following your own path. Don't do what everybody else is doing and do what you think is right. Push yourself past the limits and dont let anyone's words or actions get in your way. And if you want to do something then push yourself to do it.
I struggle with a lot of mental health illnesses and someone very important to me recommended it and it turns out it was them telling me they would always be here for me. I also hear her voice which makes me tear up but it's happy tears and this song saved my life. :3
The song is about you taking control of the wheel (you're life) and not letting fear conquer you. Will you choose water over wine?? Stay clear minded or choose what impairs you to make bad decision. And what ever tomorrow brings "I" ( YOU ) WILL BE THERE and push forward.
@@tommylander6815 Nah, homie. No such thing as far as I know. But I will say this: none of us are unique. We're not individually different snowflakes. Yes, what makes us - us - is special, sure, but our "uniqueness" is a load of crap. Someone's been through whatever you're going through now, and maybe not exactly, but enough that what go through isn't really unique.
People really need to stop shitting on emotions because they think it sounds cool to be an unemotional sack of flesh. There is nothing wrong with having emotions and there's nothing wrong with expressing your emotions as long as you do it in a healthy and rational way. Our emotions are there for a reason. They're signals for us and for our lives and what we want and what we don't want and how we're being affected in that current moment in time. Feel your emotions, analyze them and if they make sense, then act. We're not robots.
JadeTokier Letting your emotions control you and guide you without thinking about what you’re doing isn’t healthy at all. I’ve had a lot of rough times in my life. It would not be good at all if I didn’t stop to think during those times.
I must say, I am tired of being a passenger in on the drive of my life. Slowly but surly, I'm starting to be the one behind the wheel as well. Great song. :D

This song is pretty much my theme. I remember hearing it for the first time when I was 8 and absolutely loving it, only to abandon it and come back to it practically 12 years later. Such a nostalgia rush and a emotional but a welcoming return to an awesome song. I love it.
For me this song is about anxiety and insecurities driving someone away from good things, and more towards depression and isolation, and then realizing you need to take control of your life; thus conquering those insecurities.
Doesn't matter what mood I'm in or how I'm feeling, whenever I hear this I always think of memories from my past and start to miss them... Really powerful song.
This song has a hidden message about fear and making decisions. Who doesn't like this song? When he says If you choose water over wine. (Water is life and wine is fear). Get behind the wheel and Drive. Greatest song.
It's so easy to lose focus now and again, but always feels good to get back to making choices based on my own contemplation and choose my own destiny and be the only one accountable for which ever direction it is I proceed in life.
this song represents [to me] the awakening of a person. Breaking free of the mass mind control on our society. They control with fear, we let that drive us. It's not us behind the wheel. This trend seems to have a vague haunting mass appeal. But I see the world for what it is. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, with open arms - and open eyes.

This song is a very interesting song for me! It took a long time to find it but I remember my abusive father used to love this song before I cut all ties and while he still can keep me down to this day this song feels like a opposite thing for me! Instead of it meaning the same thing as my father means to me of being something that has kept me down for years and something I hate it has become a thing that speaks to me saying no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get to keep going on and make it to the next day!

It's driven me before, and it seems to have a vague
Haunting mass appeal
But lately, I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes, yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there, oh
So if I decide to waiver my
Chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine
And hold my own and drive?
Ah, ah-ah, ooh
It's driven me before, and it seems to be the way
That everyone else gets around
But lately, I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself, my light is found
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes, yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there, oh
Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive?
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes, yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there, oh
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
No, no, no, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
No, no, no, no, no
This was my dads favorite song and i can remember listening to it on repeat for hours and now he has recently died due to cancer and this song will now forever rest in my heart a one of many memory’s of our short time together
I’m sorry. Cancer sucks
That feeling he talks about is obviously about anxiety, your fears and thoughts taking control of you. when you know you're better than that. Truly awesome tune. Had someone try to convince me this song is about drunk driving 🤦🏽♂️😂
It feels so good playing this song on guitar
Yes it does...
When i get a guitar i'll try
I'm trying to learn it, its definitely challenging but not too hard to stop
This is a great song for beginner like myself...
I was beyond psyched when I finally got it down!
In a time period when ones validation comes from " likes" and " retweets" this song is more important than ever
Best comment I've read on this song in 7 years . Nobody looks in themselves for validation anymore and it's because of how much criticism goes around now a days in my opinion
Just finished watching the entire Daria series
I'm 11 years old and my dad played incubus in his car recently and I loved it and he said they were a good band and I checked them out (bcuz my dad knows good bands.) And I really support his opinion. Incubus is really cool!
2019 still here🖤
Same!
2020 still standing, transcending
What a powerful and awesome song!
"Whatever tommorow brings I'll be there" I will too man.
I'll be there with you

I get goosebumps when I hear this song. I have officially fallen in love with it.
My wife passed away on 11/2/22 after a long fight with a neurological disease. I always told her whatever we face, we’ll face together.
This song makes me think of that.
Power hug 🤗🤗❤❤
I'm so sorry. Blessings to you.

Guys... This is life right here. What we couldn't explain when we were young I mean we didn't know how to say that one thing... But it was there and we knew. But this song put it out there for me and it still hits home. Mello, smooth cool, a band. Jeez, what has happen, man.
Fun fact: I was actually born on the same day that this song was released as a single
"You know how many birthdays happen a year? Hundreds. Literally hundreds." - Master Shake from ATHF

One of my all time favorite tunes!
Eric Marshall l like the tune ...

This calms my 7 month old baby in the car 😂 it shuts her right up, any other song she just can’t lol.
Now is she 18 months old?
The baby has good taste in music then
Now she's 21 months?
Have you tried playing beautiful world by Rage Against The Machine. Nothing but singing and guitar playing. It's a really calm song. You should try it out, and see way reaction you get from your baby, lol. :)
Duct tape may also work

2020 LOUDERRRRRRRR
Seeing them at aftershock 2018 was by far the best live music experience I’ve ever had 100/10 would do again
Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear
Take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I am beginning to find
That I should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there
So if I decide to waiver my chance
To be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine
And hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I am beginning to find
That when I drive myself my light is found
So whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there
Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive?
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there

GOD YOU ROLLED A NAT 1 ON THIS BOY'S INTELLIGENCE
This song is a very interesting song for me! It took a long time to find it but I remember my abusive father used to love this song before I cut all ties and while he still can keep me down to this day this song feels like a opposite thing for me! Instead of it meaning the same thing as my father means to me of being something that has kept me down for years and something I hate it has become a thing that speaks to me saying no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get to keep going on and make it to the next day!
I listen to this when I’m depressed or sad and about to cry this really helps a lot...
when I was 2 1/2 my dad passed away. I’m now 14 and today I went to visit his grave again and sang this song for him. rest in peace daddy, I’ll always love you ❤️❤️
what a voice, and a great song, thanks for uploading
“Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there with open arms and open eyes”
I have to tell myself this a lot, because no matter how much I feel like giving up, there are people who count on me being there tomorrow, so I simply have to be there.

2020 anyone?? If you have good taste in music, I'll see you in a month!!!
Sean Moser you’re seeing me in two
Your seeing me in five.
Hey man I'm here! Ha and what if 2020 was just like a preview for 2021? Is 2021 all that everyone is cutting it out for? We just have to wait
This song is so deep! I love it soo much!!!! 😍❤
This is officially my song of inspiration
he wrote this song following the birth of his first child. it is about becoming a responsible human being to help shape the character of this new life. children, and raising them up right, is an awesome responsibility.
