    Love it. Super fun conversation. I certainly perked up when he started talking about pulps. I think the intriguing part is, it’s a new frontier for us comic book lovers.

      Thank you, brother. Pulps have amazing covers and many are super rare. I haven't gotten the bug yet but I'm starting to warm up to them 🙂

    Awesome interview of an awesome guy. About 8 years ago, I decided to submit about half a dozen Golden Age comics to CGC for grading. A few days later, Matt called me and asked me about the backstory of these comics. I told him that I had been a collector of high grade Comics and I gave him the details of the purchase which occurred in the 70's. Based on the backstory as well as the look and feel of the comics, Matt told me that it was his opinion and the opinion of the CGC grading staff that these comics were Edgar Church pedigrees. I was ecstatic and grateful that he made the effort to reach out to me. Something he did not have to do.

      Hi George. I appreciate the great story. You can't do much better than find out one of your books is a CHURCH COPY! Very exciting and cool to to hear that Matt gave you a call. In the times that I've collaborated with Matt I've been astounded by the depth of his knowledge about comic books...at just about everything.

    Really enjoyed this video.....I think everyone's Comic Collecting journey begins pretty much the same...it's the "Love of Comic's"......and if you're lucky that will continue throughout your life ! Thanks Keston 😎

      Thanks Tim, no doubt. It's funny, and endearing, how difficult it is for Matt to imagine his life if he never came across comic books.

    Pulps being the inspiration for iconic comic book art is an interesting twist I hadn't considered. I can't collect everything so I will likely pass but I definitely have a better appreciation for them.

      Thanks Shane. I'm in the same boat right now. Still focusing on comic books...but I'm starting to see a few pulps that catch my eye...:-)

    Secret to collecting is buy what you love.. Social media has confused too many in the hobby by buying junk. Follow your own path and don’t worry what others have.

      No doubt. I was lucky to have a great mentor early on in the hobby...someone who wasn't pushing any particular books but recommended quality. I love the journey of figuring out what "quality" means to me :-). Always good to hear from you, Kryptonite.

      💯 Keston. I’m an old school collector. Wizard magazines from the 90s to non social media and just going online grabbing certain books when prices of books from the golden to silver age were nowhere near the prices fetching today.

    Very interesting video. Side question, What do you think about restoration in golden age books? I saw your video on that issue, but is there amount of restoration you would find too much to buy?

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, Adam. I get scared of the 5-level restoration. Once you hit a 5, I think it's tough for a collector to know what's real and what's rebuilt -- huge pieces added etc. For a really tough book, I'd take anything under a 5.

      Do you mean anything above 5.0 CGC?

      Hi Adam, Referring to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 extent-of-restoration scale where 5= extensive. It's at a 5 where I get nervous. Here's the info on CGC restoration scales (also a scale for the quality of restoration: A, B, and C). -Keston

    CGC is planing for more services but not discussing their caes. Why are they not discussing the elephant in the room?

      Hi goldschool. Thanks for the comment. The interview -- from which this video segment was taken -- was only a few days after Matt's conversation with West Coast Davengers. In my other video, from the same interview with Matt, he acknowledged the scam, and didn't have any big updates at the time.
