I've gone from loving it in the first photos, to being fairly unimpressed by the first in-hand looks, to loving it again. I'm worried about durability over time. I had bendy toys like this when I was a kid, and the rubber would eventually corrode to the point the bare wire was visible, but I hope they use better stuff now. It's just a fun, insane figure. It's Luffy. I have to have one. Seems like a great figure to have on the desk and just come up with bizarre poses for.

Man, so glad I preordered this guy! He looks fantastic! Only disappointing thing for me is that the elongated arms aren’t removable from the sleeves to be adapted on the Wano Luffy. I was positive that’s what they were going for but I guess we’ll have to wait for stretchy limbs with some other release or buy the custom 3rd party stretch effects. I don’t foresee any problems with the wire though but that depends purely on how people will treat this figure; I’ll simply pose him once in a while and leave him in that pose so it should last me for years. But if people bend the hell out of it for hours he’lo probably won’t last a week.

As is, I’m gonna pass on this figure. For $80, those elbow and hip joints are inexcusable. He can’t even properly do the Nika jump pose. Their attempt to make him more free with the bendy wire only restricted his articulation even more. It looks good, but if it can’t pose well I’m just not gonna pay up that amount of money.
Those are fair points! With so many figures out now, we really do just need to buy what really makes us happy and what we can enjoy aye.
This figure is so close to perfect, it just needed toe articulation and stretched legs. Still gonna buy him tho. Also off topic I think the next character after Kid and romance dawn Luffy and Nami should be Garp, White Beard, Ace, Katakuri, Or Shanks

Now they should do the bendable limbs for the regular Luffy because that's not an ability specific to Gear 5.

That's what Jada Toys Dhalsim has, but an $80 figure by one of the largest toy companies in the world simply cannot do something so ambitious. Please understand.
I think I would've preferred Matte paint instead of gloss this figure but still looks good.
Great review, I like the figure overall but I with regular jointed limbs were included. It doesn't seem fair that you are forced to just bendy limbs, I understand the amime and art styles and depictions but with a figure, options are always preferable in my personal opinion opinion.

i feel like it will ease my concerns with the bendy wires for the figure
can you remove/ replace the wires in the arms and legs
or are they moulded inside the rubber and non removeable
i feel if you could remove and replace the wires there would be less concern as well as giving people the choice to use more sturdy and stiff wire in its place
I can’t find anywhere and when I try and see the images on the official sh figuarts it takes me to an Amazon page for a completely different figure can somebody help?
Just got mine, and I haven’t seen any one have this issue yet. The peg that goes into the arm. It doesn’t rotate and is it lock in place. I thought mine was stuck and ended up breaking the peg. I messed with the others and noticed they’re all like that
now i cand decide i want this one that costs 72 in the figuarts website or the guts berserk armour that costs 116 in my country olthough i do have a figure of gear 5

Was it easy to pop it in? I find it extremely harder to put in the longer arm, in fact I haven’t been able to, it keeps snapping off the joint
I hate that in order to get a really long pair of arms or legs for the Raid on Oniganshina Luffy, you’ll need $180 from the custom part company :(

Any tips for making the long arms peg in. Mine won't fit. The holes are noticeable smaller
Confirm you have the left on the left, right on right etc, if still tight warm up the joint a bit. If still no luck and you think there is an issue hit up the customer support and you might be able to get a replacement.
@@Rockchala_YT tried everything. The store I got it from had no replacements it was the last. Ended up trying to widen the holes but the results didn't work. So frustrating. Like you could definitely tell the peg holes were slammer than the normal arm peg holes

An hour ago I was really excited about this figure but jesus why is the base form more posable when this one has bendy wires. Why deliberately make the leg and arm articulation worse in the form where Luffy is the most flexible. He cant even do the splits or kick horizontally when based form could. Just make the regular arms and upper legs a repaint of base Luffy so you mcan have good looking non stretchy poses, and have the long bendy parts as well.
Why on Earth would they make the hips one solid piece? Tamashii's insistence on inconsistency even within the same line is bizarre.

*GEAR 5 SPOILER*The bonus face for the onigashima luffy was when kaido killed him and he came back and turned into gear 5
Do you think using a blow dryer would make it easier to bend the arms/legs more?
Legs were super easy and I dont think it would help the arms... but could be worth a try? If you get him let me know how it goes!

He is out in Japan today, if you want to grab him early keep an eye on Amiami for restocks! For my retail releases I always use local stores which dont sell overseas.

He is retail release, so will be out in the USA in June I believe. If you want to get asap he is now out in Japan and you can try a shop like Amiami
