Really you heard the z906 in person? I won't believe. The moment when you said, both has 8 inch subwoofer and has same kind of bass response, it just made it clear that you haven't listened to any of these systems in person. Dude, z906 is undoubtedly the best when it comes to bass department under 2000$. The subwoofer from this particular system if you forget it's size is 8inches, gets deep down to 24hz and can keep up neck to neck with giant avr subs. The klipsch ls150 15 inch cinema hall sub, and the z906 has same low frequency extension. The only system that performs close the the z906 is the z623, and Jbl bar1300x. And you've to understand the fact that these type of atmos certified fancy soundbars, even if it's high end, won't be enough to create that immersive surrounding sound like a traditional hometheater setup creates. And the subwoofer from the tab8967 cutoffs when reached 40hz. Majority of the speaker systems available in the market, whether those are from reputed brands does the same. Even sony does the same when it comes to bass. Their sw 5 worth 70k active sub cutoffs when reached 40hz. Then what's the point of having a home theater speaker system with a subwoofer unit that cannot serve the purpose of a subwoofer? In that area, the Logitech THX systems are on top of all. I myself have a dual svs sb1000 pro with monitor audio silver 6 towers.Years before, z906 was my main speaker system. And you know what, at same volume level, the z906 performs close to my single sb1000 pro. You can take a visit to my channel to see my current setup.
Have I ever said anything bad about z906? I know how great it is. I mentioned subwoofer driver size for information purposes. I know z906 is an exceptional system. That's why it is still in competition with other new high end systems. And you are right a soundbar cannot be that immersive, which a home theatre can. It's not like other subwoofers that comes with rest of the home audio systems. It leans more towards spl category and gets low down to 24hz. You can just watch the z623 7 inch sub vs jbl 12 inch sub to get an idea of what kind of beasts are those tiny subs from Logitech.
