- We loved exploring the Mystical Beauty of Taman Ayun Temple in Bali. First we visited a Barong Dance Performance near Ubud. Barong Dance is a traditional Balinese performance that tells the story of the eternal battle between good and evil. The dance features elaborate costumes, intricate masks, and dynamic choreography. The central characters are the Barong, a mythical lion-like creature representing good, and Rangda, a fearsome witch representing evil. The performance is accompanied by gamelan music and typically involves a series of dramatic scenes depicting the ongoing struggle between these two forces. It's a captivating display of Balinese culture and spirituality, often performed for both ceremonial and entertainment purposes. The arena was crowded and I didnt have good seats to film much but it was still enjoyable. Next we visited the Taman Ayun Temple.

Built in the 17th century by the Mengwi dynasty, Taman Ayun Temple stands as a symbol of Bali's architectural prowess and religious devotion. Its name, 'Taman Ayun,' translates to 'beautiful garden,' a fitting description for the lush surroundings that envelop this sacred site. As we wanderd through the temple complex, we were captivated by the intricate stone carvings adorning its walls and the serene ponds reflecting the towering pagodas. Each element of the architecture holds deep spiritual significance, from the towering Meru towers symbolizing the cosmic mountains to the intricately carved gates representing the boundary between the sacred and the profane. From its stunning architecture to its spiritual ambiance, Taman Ayun Temple offered us a glimpse into Bali's rich cultural heritage and unwavering devotion.
