    French people: "It's so sad that people are killing people for having ideas that are different than their own. The French Revolution gave us these freedoms of expression when Revolutionaries killed all those people who had ideas different than their own." (In the spirit of Charlie Hebdo. ;-))

    it was very sad day when this happened in France. the whole world was shocked. France is beautiful country and i love learning french, that why i worked with alliance for 5 years. EASY FRENCH is one home for french speakers or french learners all around the world. whenever u post these type of videos, people felt or express hating words. so in my opinion this is not good idea to show about Charlie. If EASY FRENCH want more viewer or more love, than plz avoid to post these type of videos.
    I don't agree with the view that freedom of speech means being able to
    say anything you want without it leading to any consequences, good or
    bad.
    VIVRE FRANCE, VIVRE EASY FRENCH

    The french people I meet are very nice and I believe that the French are very kind as a people. On this issue or issues, I feel it's very hurtful to the culture or people who have to face the insults. It's like a bottle. When you are living in an open culture with liberty and relatively decent human rights and respected as a culture, the hurt and disrespect you have to endure in your life is less. Compared to say people who look different from what most people would look up to in the media and of pre-perceptions, many indeed have already received much discrimination. So the hurt in their bottle is already filled. I don't want anyone to be hurt and sometimes I swing towards free speech however the only compassionate voice I have heard and remembered in the media is from Pope Francis who said something like if you say something hurtful, you can naturally expect to have a backlash. Of course, he is well-liked so his comment is more palatable. Xo

      Of course, there's never an acceptable cause for violence. But to every action, you must trace the root. Hope there's no hate replies to my comment. :-( X

      Polish & Beautiful I agree with you that freedom is limited. If insulting beliefs and people are called freedom then the attack done to charlie hebdo itself can be classified as freedom of expression. Freedom is relative but it can also be an illusion.

    It is strange that those who drew the cartoons didn't die but others died because of their words and drawings, and all of the sudden, the terrorists got all the blames, sure as hell the act of killing those innocent civilians is wrong but isn't it ironic that no one blames the cartoonists for causing all these tumults irresponsibly? But one one seems to mind, because freedom of speech is everything, it can allow one another to insult others, and allow someone else to get killed but not the one who talked, a strange European logic. The point is what you laugh at others' religion or national identity, it is pretty much like a big 'fuck you', as you are insulting the person himself, and more so, what he believed the most in the world. If I say a 'fuck you' to random people, I deserve to get kicked in the ass, and I personally feel strange that others support me if they say that the freedom of speech can allow me to 'fuck you' everyone, and those who get mad just either don't face the fact or they are conservative trying to suppress my own freedom of speech.

      +tzarnikolov What a load of BS. There are some acts that come close to hate crimes but drawing a cartoon of Mohammed sure as hell isn't one of them. Any culture that riots and kills over a innocuous picture doesn't belong in the 21st century. Replace the cover with Jesus, hell, make it 100x more offensive and you wouldn't hear a peep from the Christian community. That's why the west is the best.

  • @NNNNN34955
    @NNNNN34955 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I know the freedom of speech is very important in France, but it seems that they didn't understand what the religions mean to them, it is not a going to church, sinagogue, mosque or whatever once a week, not wearing a heejob. It is their way of life, their life itself. You can't make fun of it. Saying that you can sounds like that French culture is superior or better than any other culture. If you want to make fun of some things, you should make fun of only French things.

    • @stefanhaagedoorn3690
      @stefanhaagedoorn3690 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Guno 김 Nonsense. Islam is now part of France. With your reasoning, this means you can make fun of it. And even if it would not be, you still should be able to make fun of everything, even ideas like religion. Actually, especially things like religion. It is the essence of satire to make light of things that are considered to be so important in people's lives (politics, religion). To say you can make fun of one thing, but not another, that is the start of censorship. Do you want that?

    • @NNNNN34955
      @NNNNN34955 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stefan Haagedoorn Islam is not really part of France. Cuz even though there are many muslims in France, the other people are not related to islam things, kind of not at all and they don't know anything about islam. I am not saying that there should be censorship, sure there shouldn't be. I am saying that each person should take care of what they say and how other people will feel about it. God is literally god for them. I am 100% atheist but I can't agree with the idea that we can make fun of other people's belief, their way of life.

    La liberté est-elle la déformation des sacrements des autres religions?

      Yes, freedom is being able to do all of those things; as long as no one else’s rights are infringed upon by someone’s actions, they have a right to whatever they want. no one is being prevented from believing in whatever they believe in, nor are they prevented from critiquing anything. Is Charlie Hebdo keeping others from practicing Islam, from criticizing anything about France, the satirist culture, the West, or Judaism/Christianity? No, it’s not. Someone hurting your feelings with a drawing is NOT, under ANY circumstances, an excuse to kill them or suppress them. If you are so easily offended, that is your problem, not anyone else’s.
