    Brotherly Love Official Trailer #1 (2015) - Keke Palmer, Macy Gray Drama HD
    Set on the backdrop of Philadelphia's famed Overbrook High School, we track the lives of the nations number one high school basketball player Sergio Taylor as he deals with the early pressures of hood fame. His older brother June who had basketball dreams of his own, but after the death of their father he resorted to the allure of the streets to fill the financial void in the home. Finally, their sister Jackie the princess of the bunch who has strong ambitions to pursue a musical career, but is suddenly side tracked by an unexpected encounter with teenage love. This story takes place in a city where the life expectancy of a black male is twenty-five years of age. A city that had over four hundred murders last year alone, and where the unemployment rate is at an all time high. This story is painted with a kaleidoscope of music, sports, and characters that will bring the last two generation closer together by allowing them to see the inner lives of our youths in the journey of Brotherly Love.

      riz1738 I randomly decided to watch it last night on Netflix. Figured it was going to be a corny movie, but it was actually good. I appreciate the fact that they added a twist to end. Not enough movies do that. Too many cliche happy ever afters. Quincy surprised me to. He did his thing.

      From when the movie started it made us wonder who was that in the black jacket. Then at the end. After the ball and he was talking to June when the music got a bit weird and he started talking about the falling in love thing. I literally waited on the edge of my seat , I could sense something was about to go down. When he shot him my mouth opened!!! In shock ! Unbelievable movie. And she had his baby girl too. Wow 5 star movie. Everyone came together and made a excellent movie.

      I live in Philly too and it isn't about race. 1. the majority of kids at Overbrook are African American and that's a fact 2. a lot of kids in Philly turn to the streets to support their family and that's a fact. This movie was a phenomenal portrayal.

    I don't even care this is now one of my favourite movies ever! You don't even understand how much this made me cry. It hit home so hard, and it just made me realise so much. But the only negative about this movie, is that my trust issues worsened. I can't look at people the same no more 😂 Growing up and living in an area full of gang violence and having to walk constantly looking over your shoulder is not an easy lifestyle, but this movie made me realise you need to be VERY careful with the people you associate yourself with, and follow your gut. When someone tells you something and you're spirit says NO, then don't do it. Your spirit knows you better than your friends.

    People on this comment thread, man. So ignorant. This takes place in inner city philly. It's a film about a black family in a black neighborhood. I'm sure there will be the occasional white extra, but inner city areas have statistically less diversity than suburban, or center city areas. It's a realistic portrayal of many black lives even in the dramatization of the story. smh people butthurt that it's giving black actors jobs, entirely disregarding the fact that a major point of the film is clearly poverty concentration in urban areas (which causes gang violence) within communities of color. White people aren't here because, oh wait, white people aren't there in real life. Go find some place else to whine about your own privilege and let people enjoy the goddamn film trailer. I, for one, am glad some black actors/actresses are getting work. And this takes place in my hometown, ayyeeeee!

Or why not do a film on the story o Emmit Louis Till or the four little girls who was killed in a church by a bomb kn the 60's? No why? Beause they scared of that!

    • @shanqb
      @shanqb 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree. Black people are so diverse but Hollywood producers don't want to fund other stories because they feel it won't make money and/or black prejudices still prevail. Consider the controversy with the latest Christian Bale movie about Moses. Everybody was white because they couldn't get funding otherwise (lame but true). Also consider Hallmark movies. EVERY single one of their movies features an all white cast with the occasional black best friend/extra. Apparently black people don't fall in love, black people aren't beautiful, black people don't go to college or invent things. And to all those people wondering why black people essentially have their own movies and historically black colleges etc. It's because they weren't allowed into the white mainstream and this is still the unwritten rule in Hollywood today.

    • @shanqb
      @shanqb 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** "Diversity is how races become extinguished"? I hope you can see how this statement contradicts itself. I shouldn't have to tell you that assimilation extinguishes races and cultures. But you don't seem too concerned with preserving races/diversity-your issue is with disliking black people and that's something I can't help you with.

    Everybody keeps saying it's a "stereotype" and so on. I can see how you would think that. But for some this is their reality. The gangs, the violence, teen pregnancy, young black man being held back from their dreams because of their living circumstances. As much as we hate to see movies like this. Its reality for SOME. Another thing.. It had a bit of romance...But what your failing to realize, it's not a love story! There were plenty of storylines happening 💯. The movie doesn't just revolve around Jackie (keke Palmer) Chris (Quincy). And yes it might have a reused storyline. But all movies/genres do eventually, not just black movies! You can watch a white romance and it will end how? Them together. You can watch a scary movie with mostly white actors and how will it end. With one or two living. My point is give the movie a try! It's actually good and has a bit of a twist (y'all can't tell me all of you was expecting that ending 😑💯) and it had a positive message behind it. Plus, June my baby 🙌😂

      It's not that that black directors/screenwriters are scared to make quality films. It's the fact that talented directors and screenwriters are not given the same opportunity as their white counterparts to greenlight a good story. Meanwhile, these stereotypical and derivative movies are the ones that get showcased.

    It's strange and unfortunate that the people trash talking this movie haven't seen it. If you look on Twitter, Instagram and on this post everybody who saw the movie agree that it was a good movie. I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, and the acting was excellent. The whole cast did their thing. Also, for the person or persons wanting to know why there was no white people... there was. Two white police officers to be exact. The main themes in this film were: 1.Karma will find you, it's not if, it's when. 2. Things aren't always what they appear to be, if it's too good to be true it probaly is. 3.Family loyalty 4. Choices. Every character in this movie had a choice to make that could forever change their lives. Sometimes the consequences of these choice were devastating. Also, this film shows how devious some people are. The trailer for this movie did it no justice. Since some think this was unoriginal, I'm trying to think of a "hood" movie that had a similiar plot and ending like this movie, but I can't think of one. It's similiar to West Side Story (a little) but that's not a "hood"movie. I loved this movie. No I can't relate to it, but to be honest, I can't relate to alot of movies I like. I don't have to be able to relate to something to like it. As for stereotypes, they will always exist. No matter what. The movie ended with a success story. Prices were paid in this movie. Some paid the ultimate price. The movie also shows you can also achieve your goals. Even in the midst of tragedy. You just have to keep working toward what you want to accomplish. All in all this was a good damn movie. I saw posts from several people who saw this film multiple times. One person tweeted she saw this film five times in a week. I don't think anybody would waste that much time, energy or money on a subpar movie.

    • @ttalbert64

    This movie surprised me, in a good way. I don't think it was in theaters or anything, but it's waaaay better than your typical straight to the DVD bin at Wal Mart type of movie. The acting is really good, the plot is good, even the subplot is good, and it all comes together. And one of the most important things in movie making, you actually really care about the characters. Plus the ending is definitely a shocker. I would definitely recommend this movie, and will watch it again.

    If you actually sat down and watched the movie its not as bad as you make it seem. yes it is very typical but half the stuff on here is real not just stereotype.... how do you know no one actually have been through some of these things? I personally think it was great and made me sot down and think about life more. I'm not saying that all black people are like this but let's face it... they way we act now doesn't make this movie all that wrong.
