I’m a Field Process Engineer and also do Automations Controls and Plant Upgrades. I do enjoy watching and learning from people doing good videos on Rockwell Automation product line or they software application. One the things that drive me nuts watching videos like this is when the person just can’t seem to really speak clearly. You my friend speak really clearly and that’s appreciated. I just came back from Rockwell Automation TechED 2019 in Orlando, FL all of last week. Learned so much good stuff that will help me in my job. But a few things for you maybe. FactoryTalk Linx is now the new Communication application software as Rslinx Classic is now legacy. There is now a new free application tool for configuring, diagnostics, troubleshooting Managed Switches in FactoryTalk Network Service Manager, it looks very cool. Anyway, loving your videos, I’m finding them useful as well.

Hey Ardent, thanks for the kind words and glad you're enjoying the videos! I have to admit I'm a little jealous about the TechEd, it's on my bucket list of things to do. Thanks for the tip with FactoryTalk Network Manager. I'll have to give it look.

Could you teach me about managed switches? How much would cost it me?

After configuration using port1, the port 1 can not be used to connect other devices? if this switch is supposed to be used to connect PLC and HMI, then we need to assign IP address of PLC and HMI to other ports like2 and 3 as well or it will work as long as the switch is in the same network with other connected devices? in our case PLC and HMI. When we assign gateway IP address?thx

SFP ports 17 and 18 are NOT 100/1000 Mbps, they are 10/100 Mbps. They are NOT gig-ports. Only combo ports 1 & 2 are Gigabit capable.
