Enjoy your videos. We have 'adopted' five raccoons that live somewhere near our home. Since last December we began feeding one who came up on our deck and we named him Bandit. After weeks of routine nightly feeding he was less timid and took the food from my hand. Then another female showed up and though also timid looked for us to put food out for both of them. More recently others that appear younger have joined the food line with as many as three up on the deck at same time. We put out their food and water for them to dip it or just drink. Both Bandit and Bella like to wash their food. We grew concerned when Bandit showed up with an injured eye, but it is okay now. Bella has been in skirmishes showing hair missing on her neck and body and had a small wound that has since mended. We wonder if they fight amongst themselves. They are always cautious and run with sudden noise.
Aww....poor little babies are all wet. Funny, one of the first things I noticed was Scooter's hoarded stash. He just cracks me up. Woody is slowly getting a bit more brave. It's always a thrill to see them come back and also fun to see some newbies! I think the newer ones feel less intimidated when you're sitting down. The older ones know you by now. Love them all! Jim, Will you give names to the newbies? Its amazing the calories they burned in that lil amount of time they were gone..big difference in the weight! Its heartwarming to know you are there to feed them n get them pudgy again! My raccoon returned, i had 3 about a month ago, but i only see the one large one keeps returning..i saw that same one come here n there in the winter..so i think thats why it has stayed plump..not sure if its a he or she! Hello, Papa Jim. We enjoy greatly your videos with the little bears. I am a senior citizen, and since 8 years I feed raccoons in the city on the West Coast. The first 4 years were almost smooth sailing, I enjoyed feeding Fiffy, the half blind mother raccoon, but about 3-4 years ago some city cleaning programs started and even the trees and bushes were cropped, and the garbage areas had been cleaned and the bins locked. The raccoons of this part of the city lost their former food supplies, and so I increased my help to them. The result was that last year 2 mother coons had 7 babies, very cute ones. But as they became adults, suddenly the former problems with wildlife haters started in earnest. From the 6 spots where I put down food, I found this night that 3 had been corrupted lately, people living nearby steal the food I put out. When the food is stolen, the ground is clean, but when the coons eat part of it, there are remains of food and crumbs. And another problem is that other animals start to come, such as skunks and rats. People hate that, and they even hate when the happy coons climb trees close to their balconies or they even climb on the roofs of family houses. I love raccoons, and feeding them is a constant fight for me with people who defend their territory. Well, within 100 years the world pop's number will double, and I wonder how people will defend territory against each other then. I love coons, they come to me as friends. I notice a constant deterioration in general conditions in our human community relations. And people are alienated from Nature too, and they dislike each other. I love animals.

Sweet creatures don't forget over the winter. As soon as spring comes back, so do they for those juicy hot dogs.
