With the clock choke, I always wondered what you were supposed to do with the second hand. I do like the minute details you include. I honestly think this technique came at the perfect time. And other clock puns.
Osssssssss! Funny, I can’t remember the last time I or a training partner used turtle. I wonder why!? I like this submission chain though. Beauty! Many thanks!!
Sick, this is a nice variation! I also learnt one where you get the cross collar with the left arm/hand, but blocking with it seems effective and probably easier to do
OSS! Professor Tom. Thank you for this variation. I have used this choke before, but would keep my "non choking" hand on the same side as the entry to collar, dropping my arm to place my tricep next to my opponent's head and then walk the clock. I prefer this variation. Watched it yesterday, implementing it on the mats last night with immediate success. Awesome! Been on this journey a little over a year now and my first competition is Oct 5! Wish me luck... Most likely, some of your instruction will assist me "under fire". I'm thankful as always.
If youre playing with this I like this variation to finish once you have the grip try swinging a leg over like your taking the back (no hooks necessary) and try to put your upper body forward past their head so you hang all your weight through your choke grip, its super tight. My variation is probably less sound but I seem to finish more with it.
1:57 Legend suggest, from the sound of his fingers, the moon and all planets aligned south from the snap that was heard from across the galaxy......Everyone knew that "the choke ready to go".
I tried this today at the gym to a training partner. I thought I did it right but now I realize I put elbow on the wrong side. I was on the right side of the partner and i slid my right arm underneath to grab the left side of the lapel. To here it was ok but the elbow i put on right side of my partner instead of left. I did everything else correct after and I realize the lapel shortly after so I wasn't able to confirm. Does it still work or it wouldn't, coach? Thanks! 🙏 I suppose has to have the neck under my arm pit to apply pressure
I accidentally made my training partner passed out using this choke. I never tried it before & I did not feel I had enough depth with my choking grip but it came so unexpectedly fast.
So for me, vs the turtled opponent the hardest part is getting that hand in and across to the other side lapel. Usually the opponents hand-fights furiously.Any tips on how to get there simply and efficiently?
Oh shit, I never knew that counter to the bow and arrow, because I am a bitch ass white belt lol...I will use that next time a purple throws bow and arrow on me

I tried teaching this to my son, but at that point it was second hand information.
By the way, no need for alarm if no one else adds clock puns!
Did you *wind* up using it?
Perhaps I should *watch* this a *second* *time*.
Explains better than anyone I’ve seen on the net. Truly a professor who walks the walk.
Professor Tom, your demos and explanations are fantastic. I learn new things that I can apply right away.
Hit this choke in class the other day first try. Awesome detail. Thanks for the vid.
This is one of my go-to chokes! I'll try your variation this week! Thank you 🙏

Is your right hand taking any weight? Or is it all going through the back of his neck, and your hand is barely touching the floor?
We call this Judo Bulldog Choke :D

My cogs were turning after seeing this.
Unlucky on Saturday
this boy is australian
Wouldn’t he turn into you since you don’t have an arm to control? I’m just curious.
