I worked as a youth worker and watched these young people grow up. He was a very talented young person. Its a shame they gave their best years to the prison system.
One thing that I have noticed and that was quite enlightening and important about Bobby's questioning was when Bobby asks them if they came from a single parent family. As we know, mothers do their best(God bless them) and obviously your environment is going to affect you but it is also a contributing factor to why a lot of these youths, mainly black youths, gravitate towards a life of crime. We know that single parent families are quite a big and well known situation amongst Caribbean youths in England and in the Caribbean. But also upon my own experience and in examining bobby's interviews I have noticed that a lot of brothers from West African family backgrounds also happen to come from single parent families. Whereas families that come from Congo, like bobby himself, tend to come from two parent families. I have known a lot of Congolese brothers and I have never met one that comes from a single parent household whereas the majority of my bredrins that I grew up around of West African( Ghanaian, Nigerian, Ivorian mainly) happened to have came from a single mother household where they didn't know their pops or he was in and out. Please bear in mind that when I say the majority, I am speaking about my own personal experience and the place that I grew up in which was a bit on the rougher end, this might not be the universal experience. Furthermore, I definitely do not intend to shame or look down upon any culture but I was hoping that someone might give me insight on this subject because as far as I have heard, single parent families are quite uncommon in the respective countries themselves and the ones that emmigrate to the US but quite common among the ones that come to London or the UK. The main countries that I have noticed were brothers from Nigeria, Ghana and the Ivory coast. I have left out the country that I come from, SL, because of its unique situation and single parenthood being quite high in the country itself. Also, most Zimbabweans and Angolans I know also tend to come from singe parent households. As I said this is just to gain insight and in no way to undermine any culture( I love all my black people). It is also not to blame any family either, people regardless of their ethnicity will do better if they come from a wealthier family more educated famil etc but obviously most people of colour unfortunately tend to live in more rougher areas, more bad influences, more danger , less opportunities.
great interview, very interesting man, who will hopefully have success in life. but when i’m listening to him and the way he speaks - despite him coming across as very engaging and smart, i get the feeling by some of what he says is that he’s got some type of mental health issues (obvious maybe but you can hear it in what and how he says things to me.). good luck to you brother
@DocOc I'm not his age group so that point fails. Being known isn't the same as being liked which is Ironic as you sound like you know him but don't like him...

If u go hospital with a stable wound the hospital have to phone police so his story dont match up an he was 15 year old kid at the time the hospital would have to tell his mom it wouldn't be a choice an with police involved his family would have known ontop of all that another prospective is the shop keeper having a young child bleeding out right under the counter texting his friend more time caught on CCTV he also would have called the police with the amount of blood he described also contacting his or her boss with cctv saved
Okay this is going be a long one. And I am not going read back to check how many spelling or grammatical errors As someone who has worked with young people in the past. What stuck out to me was that he displayed a talent for Arts drawing which lead to his love for fashion. If this was identified by a teacher, mentor or even family member. It is quite common for any parent or even careers advisor to say that Art/Fashion is very difficult to get into, so focus on other careers that will guarantee an income. I probably would have taken a different approach to a young Kola, was help him pursue his passion/dream career and make sure he has a backup plan or a plan that can support dream. We don't know whether that belief in young Kola would have helped his life go in a more positive direction from early. The funny thing is that he went through all that adversity (Caused by himself), to show that he was always the smartest guy in the room by eventually launching his fashion label and having all the people in his jail/ward buy his clothing. I hope Kola understands what a special talent he was to achieve such goals. If I was an investor or someone known in the Fashion world I would definitely look to be working with someone like Kola and helping achieve his goals. Wonders if there is an opportunity now that his out of jail, to sell clothes to those in Jail..and broaden his brand from there. Maybe that is something you can do to help Kola get his brand out there. Whether its designing your Football team a new kit or linking up with others who benefit from his Brand. Hopefully this can help Kola to never see a Jail again and inspire the next generation which is vitally important
