    I doubt very much that Liverpool will get Anthony Gordon. When Gary Neville interviewed him recently for the Overlap(?), Anthony stated that the reason he moved from Everton was to get away from the City of Liverpool due to the bad influence of those around him!

    It’s not just Palmer, City are unbelievably good at selling the young exciting fringe players. Proper factory. Thats what funds the big moves they do make. Palmer is probably the only time recently that it’s gone badly for them

    The media narrative of certain players is a joke. You're absolutely right about how it works with Trent, I was hoping he didn't play because anything that goes wrong will definitely be his fault, as opposed to Walker or Stones or Kane who could screw up big style but won't get any grief

    IMO, you can never measure decisions by how well the sold player performs but measure what you did with the money you collected. You hope your sold player performs or then your reputation of selling on spent players hinders you in the future.

    I think Trent should be in midfield however you can’t say he played great, agree with Josh that he needs to keep the ball better, especially when you are ahead and the other team are on the ascendancy, that’s just basic stuff, you can’t just keep giving the ball back to the opposition.

    An example of the difference between media perception of England importance and reality: BBC commentary v Serbia spoke about frayed nerves and immense tension: 88th minute camera shot of Trent and Bellingham on the bench, laughing together.

    Bit late now, but I would have sold Salah when he started hard balling for his new huge contract. Left a bad taste in my mouth when he started threatening he would like to play in Spain. Churn is absolutely necessary for success. The club is way more important than any player. Buy massive potential cheap and sell for big money at their peak.

    Imagine if the Italians had scrutinised and questioned Pirlo's abilities to defend in his role as a midfielder. It's utterly bizarre the treatment Trent gets given his talents.

      @@timsutteris no of course not yet because his body of work in that position is so much smaller. But as a talent there are clear parallels. My point is he has the potential to match what Pirlo had. Trent has won the lot domestically by 24 and take Bellingham out of the England squad I think is Englands most gifted player. He is a gem that should be appreciated and nurtured not uniquely negatively critiqued in the way he is.

    • @jamesg2090
      @jamesg2090 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Its not just about whether he can hit long passes or not. Pirlo had an almost unique ability to make it look effortless, extremely press resistant and never caught knapping on the ball, always twists out of trouble and always has time.
      There's no evidence Trent has any of that.

  • @bennaz123
    @bennaz123 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Josh is spot on about Trent, when it comes to centre mid there’s a lot that Trent lacks and I’m his biggest fan. From full back you can accommodate it. The range of passing is great, world class but where’s the short game? Dictating tempo or just offering for a one two? The kind of thing a Macallister, Enzo Fernandez, Wharton even will offer. That’s not down to talent, just suitability for the role

    A lot of Prem football has become dull and stale, and system orientated and stats/data driven and lacking in individual expression. Contrary to your point that the Euros have felt regressive, I've actually found them to be highly refreshing and perhaps a reminder of some of the things we've lost in club football.

  • @AnimateAlex

    How do you get the best out of a world clas player? You let them play and their brilliance will shine through. Klopp spent years twisting and contorting to get Trent in the most advantageous position possible, I'd like to see him play next season in a role he dominates without having constant criticism on the other side of the coin. Klopp hid Trents flaws, that's a fact

    Ask any of these lads if Connor Bradley is ready to be a premier league RB they will probably say yes after 11 games. Trent in midfield "no impossible" don't get the complete hatred to putting one of our best players in a position that he is definitely talented enough to play

    Josh’s last word on Trent is spot on, also other points about no chill and risk ‘blindness’… i think people that think Trent could be a CM or DM for a team that’s going to win everything are delusional. It’s wishful thinking to think he’ll become press resistant or an absolute dog running the team. You need to ask yourself, you are building a dream team with limitless money, is Trent anywhere near the middle? Not for me. People are worried about wasting this generational talent but he hasn’t been bred to be a midfield boss, i think Curtis is exactly what is needed in there.

    I made the exact same point regarding foden earlier on today, people are suggesting Bellingham needs to be moved back to fit foden into his “best” position… to me that is madness for two reasons, firstly Bellingham is arguably our best and most influential player and literally won us the game and secondly foden is great in an incredibly organised team for city, I don’t think he will ever hit the same heights for England because it is far from organised.

    The way we need to look at it is first buy for the positions we need desperately which are CB, DM and RW. Once those purchases happen we then replace the players we sell. Ideally we sell kostas, Kelleher will leave, endo, Diaz, Morton, van den berg, Nat Phillips and carvalho. That’s a decent bit of doe to play with imo. I recon that’s about 150m. Easily. Add that to the money we should have already in the kitty, we should be on for a big summer and if we don’t do big business then we get these shit yank owners out once and for all.
