You'll be proud of me - Phase IV is my first Vinegar Syndrome purchase (although I ordered the blu-ray edition -- I don't have a 4K player). I understand what you mean about the pacing and the characters. I remember thinking that myself when I first saw it in elementary school. And my favorite film (then and now) is 2001 A Space Odyssey! 😀 But the in-camera ant footage is incredible. The main ant "character" is easy to follow and might even have more personality than the human characters. 😀 I also might order the latest Forgotten Gialli set, but I would like to watch the selections first instead of ordering it blind for that price.
I'm pretty much a Phase IV convert now. So far it's Vinegar Syndrome's best release this year. The Forgotten Gialli Volume 6 is potentially the best of the box sets. Since it's new it won't go on sale super soon, but I would think it will be on sale for their Black Friday event.
lol Welcome to the Phase IV Club. I finally got my Feb discs but haven't had a chance to watch anything yet. I'll let you know how I fare with Herencia Diabólica. And "charming" was actually the word that popped into my head when I watched the trailer for Playgirls, so sounds like my gut was right on that one too.
@@CarlinCookWell, I did get to Diabolical Inheritance. It was not good. But it also wasn't without its own subdued sense of enjoyment. Not quite sure how I feel about it. Might need a second viewing to suss that out. Either way, pretty safe bet you aren't missing too much of anything by having passed on it....
On the upside, I did go ahead and pre-order those two martial arts horror flicks, Holy Virgin vs the Evil Dead & Special Silencers. So I'll eventually let you know if they're must haves or not. I also grabbed a LE 4K of Demons 1 & 2 (complete with movie ticket and party invite lol) that I'm excited to give a look. ALSO also, I found myself a LE Blu-ray of Robotrix on eBay. Dunno if you've ever heard of that one, but it's an extremely enjoyable martial arts sci-fi from the early nineties. Super excited to add that to my shelf.
@@saltyessentials I'm very interested to know what you think about those two. The Demons films are always very fun to watch. Never heard of Robotrix, but sounds like it's a good time.
Thanks for sharing. I've been away from collecting releases for a few years, but thanks in part to you, I'm ready to start buying again.
Welcome back to the club. Physical media is where it's at.

@@CarlinCook Cool! I'll keep a look out. Re: Phase IV: It's amazing how a proper package and presentation of a film can make one appreciate it more.
@@troubadour723 the special features add so much context too. And it really helps to understand the original vision and how that was disrupted.

Glad your package finally showed up. Hope you have fun watching them all.
