The best there is out there. You will learn absolute everything you need to know about being creative, and what's more, it's all about the music. I know what i'm talking about. :-)
100% agree!! Thanks for being you and being so generous with your time and knowledge!!! You seem to be such an authentic and warm person, and your enthusiasm and insights teach and motivate. I’ve learned a lot from what you share...music theory - yes, creative tips - yes, tools for professional work - yes.....and my favorite of all (as others have mentioned), is the way you speak about music and creation....with such enthusiasm and openness and (humble) wisdom...it’s a special combination and reminds me to always push myself - and just as important - remember to be myself, be kind and enjoy the ride. Thank you Guy!!!! We are lucky to have people like you to learn from...in art and in life. PS To my fellow Guy students and appreciators, If you’re looking to deepen your commitment to your work and push yourself as an artist, think about grabbing the book / audiobook -> THE WAR OF ART by Steven Pressfield .... it’s a very different style then Guy’s videos, but has helped me tremendously. (& if you don’t want to spend the money, search podcasts for “Steven Pressfield”, he’s been interviewed a ton of times.... but the book is where it’s at for me!!! I find myself reading or listening to it again, almost once a year...)
Started the course earlier and got through to the chords section. I've tried music theory courses before but I'm finally getting it with this one. I just watched a TH-cam video about vocal pitch editing , and I actually understood what was being talked about regarding intervals(2nd , 3rd, 5th and 6ths) and dissonance! Great course so far and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about music theory. The only thing missing is a Hans Zimmer , John Williams or Danny Elfman cardboard cutout making an appearance. The course is amazing value for the content provided.
I am right behind you..would love to be able to learn more, but watching Guy just be Guy is very inspiring for us poor folk. I have learned a very important lesson from watching Guy..enjoy music and the making of it...He teaches more than music ..
Definitely buying it, I love to death your “music theory in 15min”, the best video I have seen on this subject. I studied basics years ago and not only the video easily helped me remember everything fast, it also answered questions that I could not find a simple answer to it. I want to get back in studying it and that’s how I found your video first (and subscribed, which is rare for me to subscribe to a person on the first video). THANK YOU!!!!!!!
The world of music just changed! Music fans around the globe are going to fall more deeply in love and understanding of what moves them on a scale not seen before.
I started tonight. It's 5 AM and I don't want to stop but I need some sleep lol. So far it has been very well organized and easy to understand. I am really enjoying it. When I was a kid I took piano lessons and could read music but I forgot it all over the years. Hoping this course will bring some of it back. Hopefully, you will make other courses as well. You are a very good teacher. I like how you explain things. For those that are interested the course is VERY reasonably priced and well worth the money.
Let me repeat what everyone has said . . . I love your enthusiasm, sometimes hoping it is sincere, I will be signing up for your course, but must wait about a month longer (got plumbing issues in my Mobil home that need to be addressed first). I am trying (dying?) to find a piano teacher to learn to play. I’m in Oceanside, near San Diego. I’ve written music but can’t play an instrument yet. I do use a Mac loaded w/ Cubase 10.5 Pro, have the free Spifire orchestral ensemble you told us about, the Arturia V collection, the Korg & Roland software instrument bundles and in hardware, I have a Kronos 88, a Fantom 7 an Integra 7 and the new Arturia MkII 61 key keyboard. I sure hope that your lessons will help me compile and compose the music I hear and sing. I am young, at 67. Again, I love your presentations!
I enrolled on this course the day after it was released. 2 days in and I have just began Part 1 Chapter 5. Although I have been playing keyboard for 7 years, I am already noticing the benefits of this course, picking up on things that previously would not go in. Thanks Guy 🎹🎹🎹👍
Jesus, that is what I wanted so long, Music theory with Guy Michelmore! Now I reading the introduction chapter of the course. And it seems really well invented, ‘Core Tutorials’, ‘Further Explanation’, ‘Going Deeper', Quizes. Wow, just like a beehive for the bear.
I as a drummer studied music theory to communicate with noted musicians, basically guitarists. They seem to think it's going to put rules to writing but, just like any language, the more of a vocabulary you have the better you can express yourself. It's quite frustrating that they won't just try! I admit, guitar is not constructed with as easy of a view as keyboards. I once constructed a color coded chart to help them as well as myself, trying to grasp the nature of the guitars relativity to theory to no avail on their behalf. But, it did me more insight. By the way, I love your channel and your humor pertaining to something I love so much! Music! I once did a drum track to a Mozart piano concerto I would have to apologise to him for. It gave me a new appreciation for conductors. I love classical and jazz fusion and rock to play the drums to... Usually the more difficult stuff to learn and play. Keep up the awesome work your doing. It gives me a lot of insight and enthusiasm to write again. Hopefully some guitarists will see the light as well! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the discount! I cannot afford composition courses because our national currency is so cheap. I think I can afford this one. Thank you do much!
I've only seen a couple of your videos and I thought I needed to learn more music theory in order for me to get the most out of them, so this is perfect! I'm gonna get the course for sure, there's so many ways to learn music theory but you're so enthusiastic that I think the course will be way more fun than other stuff that's available!
@@SuperMonster62 It's easy enough to follow, and the lessons are sectioned out so you don't get overwhelmed. There are additional videos for if you don't grasp a certain topic right away too! Highly recommend!
I ordered the course last night. Guy is the kind of teacher everyone would like to go to. Lots of kids going to music school don't like it at first, but I bet they would if Guy was the one teaching them. As a kid I went to music school, but had to stop because of health issues and afterwards never went back. I like to think I would have stuck to it if that hadn't happened, but I'm sure if I had a fun, likeable teacher like Guy, I had finished my studies. Now, as a grown man, my only ambition is to have fun with music, and I am fine learning new things by watching TH-cam and trying things on my own. But this course gave me some extra motivation to dig a little deeper and learn the theory behind my hobby. One thing though: not being English, what I learned as a kid is very different from the way notes are taught (you say C,D,E..., I learned do, re mi). The little I know of music theory will have to be erased while learning the "English way".
I am part way through the How to Write Music course I got about 10 days ago. As others have commented on you are very entertaining in your presentation. So it’s a No-Brainer to get this course and to have this Old Dog learn some new tricks! To have nine hours of video content, the written material and a intro price of $25, it’s an excellent value. Thanks Guy!!
just bought the course and can't wait to dive in! i can't think of anyone better to learn music theory from. thank you so much for all the amazing free content too.
I'm in. I recently retired and started aggressively living out a life long yearning to play the piano. This should help me along in the process nicely. I just got the full gravity of the circle of fifths. Looking forward to this course. Thanks for all you do.
My dream is to be a famous singer one day and I think this will help! Im self taught on music theory but have never given up on this dream!! Plus ive already memorized the circle of fifths by heart 🤣
YES! I was really hoping you would do a full course on Music Theory. Your previous (extremely-summarized) video on Music Theory is one of my favorites, I have watched it over again countless times. Definitely going to be purchasing this course.
Absurd value for money. I got to grade 6/7 piano many, many years ago and studied orchestration at school, but this was an instabuy for me simply to help support what you're doing here AND as a refresher for me! Thankyou!
Started the course last night. Looks really good. A light fresh approach. Interesting that you pay particular attention to the rebel 'guitarists' at the back of the class. Nice move. I always remember my classics faculty professor appealing to us in our very first lecture. 'It's my job' he said, 'not to teach you, but to inspire you to learn'. He was absolutely correct. Thanks for all your hard work. PS - Oh yes, completely agree with you on the Botticelli bit.
Great stuff. We're going to film more video tutorials, some of which will be to support the guitarists - rebels and otherwise! Stay tuned. You'll get an email tomorrow
I was just thinking, your free videos are already so good - are you doing yourself out of business? Then I checked the link and saw that I'd get 9 hours of video for just £25! How can anyone turn that down? ! So I've bought it, and look forward to 9 hours of your company Mr Michelmore!
Thanks for making the course so accessible, not in the best place in the world but this will help me immeasurably. Your passion for the subject is also amazing always explaining the subject with great clarity, really appreciate this opportunity to expand my knowledge.
Wow! I've been looking for such a course for a long time. There are loads of webpages and stuff but they're all kinda .. dry. I already hoped you'd do such a course so I've bought it in a heartbeat. Now off to do some learning! Thanks!!
I guess it would be churlish to refuse Guy! Keep on educating. I'm fortunate enough to have built up my musical gear over many (many) years but I can see a combo of this course and Spitfire's Discover orchestral library forming the basis for a lot of people, young and old, to really get into music composition affordably for the first time.
As an engineer, I always tried to apply physics to music, but I could never make it add up, mainly because of the two 'half steps' in the major scale. Now that I realize the major scale isn't 'linear', I think I've cracked a barrier. Definitely signing up for your course right now!
Hi Guy, I've just signed up for this course mainly because I love your presenting style so much. I have played piano for over 30 years but feel it wold be great to brush up on my music theory to improve my skills
I am new here as well. I find your channel very entertaining and informative. I was almost afraid to look at the price..lol....I'm so elated to find a reasonable music theory course. I will purchase today!!! What a deal..thank you!!! thank you !! THANK YOU!!
Never ever purchased an online course by anyone. This is definitely going to be the first and perhaps not the last one! I hope it'll show me how to make a piece/song musically consistent.
Watching this I regret I haven't found it two years ago when it still had a reduced price. I see some stuff on the page I would like to see, as some stuff after years I still can't get my head around. Well maybe I still join one day, I like those free lessons already. A bit fast for me now and then as a non native speaker, but well rewinding fortunately is an option. I never could rewind my teachers!
I hope I'm not late to buy the course, with the discount ... Although it is a very good price, objectively, in my country the currency is very devalued, so everything is expensive ... I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your channel , the contents and the way in which you treat the topics (with humor and good pedagogy). And also to ask you if in any of the many videos you explains the change from Digital Performer to Cubase and from Mac to PC. Congratulations again on all your work.
You know Guy I saw your video about major, minor circle and subscribe, just so I could get some more subsequent knowledge but here you are now offering a course , I’m not one to usually purchase these things but I love your personality so I’ll give u my money gladly.
I bought the course. I'm already reasonable knowledgeable about music theory. But it's so fundamental, a good review is always welcome. And for the absurdly low introductory price...why the heck not? Besides, I feel compelled to give back to Guy for the absolutely priceless info I've gleaned from watching his videos on TH-cam. Thanks Guy!
We have been surprised by how many people with decent music theory have signed up so we are going to extend the top end of the course quite a bit so there's more there for people like you. Look out for our email tomorrow
🎵🎵I want to hold your ha🎵🎵🎵🎵nd🎵🎵🎵nd.... well perhaps not, but this is a good vibe and an opportunity for grabbing back some of that lost music room time from reading too many comics at school. They taught music wrong anyway, i ended up playing by ear. They said nothing ‘bout using the hands. 🙃 Thank you Guy and love your videos. It’s just so good to see someone as mad as the rest of us at the bottom of the garden. It works and it’s real and it is ..(what’s that word again?) … fab! That’s it !!! 👍👍👍🎹👍👍👍
Hi Guy! I am doing some research on the music production software and hardware space with a small group of 5 other people. We have become obsessed with your channel. Your content is so rich and you're a pleasure to watch! Is there any chance you would be willing to have a 15-20 min chat with us about your views on the future of plugins?
I loved the "How to Write Music" course and even though I'm a classically trained musician, I reckon I might get this course too to fill the gaps in my knowledge. One request, which I mentioned in my feedback for the "How to Write Music" course. PLEASE allow for varying playback rates in the embedded Vimeo players throughout the course. You are immensely entertaining and I am happy to watch at 1x speed for most of it, but occasionally, being able to go 1.5x or 2x speed through the video is really helpful.
I have years of music theory already, and I suspect I may end up skipping the first section as a result, but I will buy this because the practical application of the theory you present in the second section looks great. If this course is even half as good as your "How to write music" course, it should be fantastic.
The second section is where it becomes real so to speak. We have a lot of additional content going in there and if there's something you want to know that I dont cover then just ask in the feedback box.
Guy, your TH-cam videos are the most entertaining thing I've watched for ages, so-much-so that I intend buying a DAWS and start composing, just for my personal pleasure. However, as you have composed music for films and TV I have a question which I hope you can settle for me. On far too many occasions when watching TV documentaries, the background music over-rides the commentry and the narrative is lost or distorted. I have complained to the companies broadcasting but have never had an answer which is satisfactory. Who edits the music, and would you, as a composer have any influence on how your composition was editted or used?
Just bought this course and the 'how to write music' one ! Can't wait ! But should I start with the music theory or write music ? I'm hesitate 'cause this one is newer but it seems more important to do it first.
They are complementary so I would start with the first half of learn music theory first so you have the basic concepts of keys, scales, chords and rhythm in place
you have a dream room!!! I am dreaming of such, I see you also do painting! All the gear and space, lovely! And kudos for the course, I am getting it soon! Btw is the komplete kontrol s88 the best feeling keyboard of the midi ones?
This looks like a greeeeaaaat and fun opportunity to finally take up music theory. I am on it!!! (Definitely seems like a bargain! :D ) Enjoying your videos so much!
@Guy Michelmore you said $25 but it says $35 on website / checkout. Not that I am complaining, as $35 is still very cheap -- just figure I let you know
My housemate's been trying to explain modes to me (he's as enthusiastic as you!) so when I buy your course I'll feel duty bound to buy him (another) bottle of whisky to be fair, but let's do this. You've mentioned community support in connection with one or two of your other courses - does it tend to group around each course, or is it a more general "I've been Guyed" club?
Sign up to the course after seeing a lot of your great youtube videos. As a hobbyist tinker of the midi controller I'm looking forward to driving into the course - besides the theory I really need to learn the right hand side of playing the keyboard .. is there any lessons for that out there?
Does this course cover everything in Grade 1-5 music theory? I’m struggling to stay motivated working with books and I find your videos much more engaging
Guy...I just bought a Kawai CN39 and want to learn how to play. In 1954 I took accordion lessons for 3 years (who didn't play accordion back then?) but only remember where middle C is. Here is the issue. I am 77 years of age and need to take lessons that won't take me 20 years to become fairly proficient as you can imagine. My question is...is the "thinkspacededucation" a good place to start?
Hey Guy, love your videos and would love to learn music theory from someone with your level of enthusiasm. However, I feel I probably know the stuff in the introductory section so wondering if this, even at 25 quid is the course for me. Is there maybe something that starts just beyond the 'this is a crochet' level that would be more appropriate? 🙏😊
Smart approach, Guy. I was wondering whether you might have a rethink on the approach to the course work and pricing. Very good move especially as those nice people at Spitfire (and the Beeb Ceeb of course) have thrown down the gauntlet with their Discovery deal. Good thinking. Now, what about another madcap skin of the pants creative vid...
you are the most positive, enthusiastic - fun TH-camr let alone entertainer and you make my day. Keep it up and never stop! Please.
Thank you :)

Love your videos Guy, as someone very new to music I’ve just signed up for your course :)
I'm so happy this is affordable, especially during these times of sitting at home. Thanks Guy
Aw, just after I purchased the older version!! Never mind, I still really like it. Love Guy’s humorous delivery style. Keep it up!
This doesn't cover the same ground as how to write music so they work together
Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I’ll have a look when I’m done (or when I’m stuck!)
Discovered you a couple weeks ago, you seem like a good teacher so have signed up to the course!
You know Guy I saw your video about major, minor circle and subscribe, just so I could get some more subsequent knowledge but here you are now offering a course , I’m not one to usually purchase these things but I love your personality so I’ll give u my money gladly.
Thank you
Just bought the course, can't wait to get started!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation - Wonderful! Thank you!
Best Music channel
🎵🎵I want to hold your ha🎵🎵🎵🎵nd🎵🎵🎵nd.... well perhaps not, but this is a good vibe and an opportunity for grabbing back some of that lost music room time from reading too many comics at school. They taught music wrong anyway, i ended up playing by ear. They said nothing ‘bout using the hands. 🙃
Thank you Guy and love your videos.
What can I say... You are amazing! I am up to both your courses on thinkspace)
Yes. - we are aware of that. I will find out where we are with that. Thanks for reminding me.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Fantastic! It's dead simple to add: vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012275447-Playback-Speed-Controls
@@ThinkSpaceEducation And you've now added it! Thank you! Turns out you're twice as entertaining and informative at 2x speed.
Thanks Guy and the team. Bought straight after watching. Great discount. Martin G.
Sounds great Guy, I'm in!
Bought! Your content is so inspiring and fun. Cheers Guy :)
Oh wait, there's more. Yes, it's Michelmore! :) Please keep doing this stuff forever. I must admint; I'm a fan!!
Just what I’ve been looking for! Purchased.
Welcome aboaard
The "Steve Davis" of Music. Legendary.
Thanks for this Guy! Just bought it! :)
Thanks Guy! This is super great and I'm looking to get into this soon!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Thanks ! :p
This is great, looking forward to getting this course!
Amazing stuff! Im going t ado this to refresh my mind! Its been a long while since I've done music theory.
I don't know who you are, but you are awesome!
Guy is a gift to the music world. I would gladly purchase this even if it was just Guy cracking jokes the whole time.
Brought it before the video had even finished!
you have a dream room!!!
Welcome aboard - fill in those feedback boxes if there's anything you dont understand
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Will do will do! 🥳🎵
If this is as good as the brilliant "How to Write Music" course then it will be well worth doing. It looks great
I hope so!
Sounds good; you've convinced me to sign up!✋
@Guy Michelmore you said $25 but it says $35 on website / checkout. Not that I am complaining, as $35 is still very cheap -- just figure I let you know
exactly what i needed
My housemate's been trying to explain modes to me (he's as enthusiastic as you!) so when I buy your course I'll feel duty bound to buy him (another) bottle of whisky to be fair, but let's do this. You've mentioned community support in connection with one or two of your other courses - does it tend to group around each course, or is it a more general "I've been Guyed" club?
Hey guy. Love the concept. I really need help understanding the basic. How do I get the course for the special price. Mark
Sign up to the course after seeing a lot of your great youtube videos. As a hobbyist tinker of the midi controller I'm looking forward to driving into the course - besides the theory I really need to learn the right hand side of playing the keyboard .. is there any lessons for that out there?
hottest producers out of south Florida own sound thank you for your support.
Does this course cover everything in Grade 1-5 music theory? I’m struggling to stay motivated working with books and I find your videos much more engaging
Bought.Awesome video's by the way.
How do you see this alongside the How to Write music course? (Which I'm really enjoying)
If you don't know music theory this will really help. HTWM assumes some basic knowledge but they are designed to complement each other
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Cool! I was hoping to see a course like this and now I have it! It's mine!!!
Yes More of these hands down. ^_^
Where wonderful music theory meets Monty Python. I love it.
