This episode features a round-trip journey around Neusiedler Lake, one of Central Europe's largest lakes. Throughout this expedition, my bike was exclusively powered by the solar panels I brought along. As demonstrated in the video, this experiment was successful despite the substantial additional weight of the trailer, battery, and motor, showcasing the effective offsetting of this weight by solar energy.
This video provides some real-world data on camping/bikepacking with an e-bike and charging it with a solar panel that you can carry with you. I refer to it as lazy camping since there is absolutely no rush involved. There are no hard-set targets; the only goal is to have fun and collect some data. I will continue making trip videos, so check back later for new ones, or even better, subscribe to get notified.
I completely acknowledge that this type of camping is not for everyone. There are lots of bikepackers who thrive on covering long distances, toiling away the whole day. However, I suspect that as we age, we tend to gravitate towards more comfortable ways to enjoy this activity. Whatever your preferences are, I hope you'll find the videos interesting or even useful.

That boar situation, the comments and then the next scene where the happy music just continues as if nothing had happened 😂

If I had more experience in editing, I would probably have made this part less abrupt. However, I couldn't think of anything else. After all, nothing happened. :-)

My bike frame is a Rad Power Wagon (6 years old) , put a BBSHD on it with 2 batteries (52v, 20ah.) and am waiting on my Sturmey-Archer 5 speed IGH ---
Sure I'm going to add a trailer , but not sure if I want a solar-gen , or a gas-gen to recharge the batteries ---

It all depends on the type of camping you prefer. I personally enjoy being far away from civilization and infrastructure, and solar power allows me to do that without worrying about finding the next wall socket. If you plan to camp within reach of the grid, then you're right - solar generation may not be necessary.

@@SolarTrails Soon to be 3 batteries , I could put a curved lid on the trailer so a flex solar panel could start charging the 2nd batt, sooner in the day while riding North and South --- However I could mount a Gas-Gen on a flat top lid and charge battering after dark while I sleep as well as during the day while I ride ---
Side Note - I have an MPPT , and the cost of the lightest gas-gen is more than twice the cost of solar ---
The more I wright this , the more my choice is clear , so thank you 😎

Wish I had bike paths like that around here!

Yes, the paths around Fertő (Neusiedler) Lake are well-maintained, safe, and very popular. However, this is not typical. Both Austria and Hungary have a growing number of bike paths, but much work still needs to be done.

@@SolarTrails yea you can find some really nice paths in the US but its not typical either.
