    Donna Kato's Conditioning Bar mixs with PC to soften it, might make some clay more usable with the gun. Love, love, love the modification to use with the caulking gun!!! Thanks

    I bought plastic icing tips a few years back and used a soldering iron. You could cut them more easily the way you are doing - cleaner and straighter - than I did!!!! I never really did anything with them, but you have made me want to explore this idea again because you have such a GREAT imagination!

    Laura, you are so creative. This is a great idea!! Just a fyi, they do sell the cake decorating sets in plastic for those who don't want to mess up their expensive set. Also, Laura, you need to buy yourself one of those silicone baking pads to put under your tile. I looked it up they are like $5.00 @Walmart. Ha!! I love your work. You know this. I hope you didn't mind my words of help. They come from the heart & never meant in any form of criticism...🩵❤

      Awwww, Julz!! How kind of you and thank you for your wonderful compliment!! And thank you for the information you imparted here!! Bless you!! As to the sets in plastic...I would take that under advisement, my only concern is the pressure involved in using the plastic tips. I am afraid they would fail over time and that eventually they might even pop out of the clay gun altogether, because I would most likely have to alter them to fit into a clay gun too. But still I will look into this...after all anything it possible!! Plus yes, I really need to do that...the silicone mat...just been busy beyond nuts here. LOLOL!! But definitely, sometime soon here. Sending you my biiiiigggg big hugs and huge thanks again!! :)

And yes, I did do a video on the sculpey clay gun. If you look at my video called "A Polymer Clay Tools Tutorial- The Sculpey Clay gun solution". You might find that useful. Es impresionante !! Nunca había visto un utensilio formado por una estrusora de arcilla polimérica y una pistola de silicona. Por favor, podrías decirme de qué es el cilindro blanco en el que metes la estrusora? Cómo lo has adaptado? Tus trabajos son maravillosos !! Gracias.

    Hi Laura this is an idea I have had but never tried thank you so much! Have you ever had a hard time with the super glue failing over time? So many makers I see avoid it it seems.

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Truly? No. But I also believe this is dependent on a couple of things. 1. I bake with the superglue once. I try not to bake more than once. and then 2. If I do bake more than once, I usually and will reinforce with more glue. However, the nice thing about this is liquid sculpey (because it is liquid) goes into cracks where other glues don't do that. Now, I have been asked about bake and bond clay, and why I don't use that. I probably should. Something I need to explore more and try more. My thing is I have used superglue mainly out of habit and have become quite apt at using it too. Another thing that helps here is my embedding of my eye pin. Using the hook feature to anchor my jewelry is a huge help. Sending my hugs! :)

    I wonder if you'd have more control using a piping bag.

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an interesting idea, the problem would be the metal piece keeping it on the bag, not sure if it would last long. The clay is a harder and more difficult material to push through a tip. Hence, the clay gun is easier to work with and can handle the pressure. Not sure the plastic bag would last very long...

      Yes, I do… It’s an older video here on my channel but if you look up the “the Sculpey Clay gun solution”. That should give you a pretty good sense of how I put that thing together and how I still use it today… I do hope this helps. Sending you my big hugs!! 🤗👍🏻❤️

    My mind is reeling with all the ideas you've inspired in me! Thank you!🫶 I was wondering if you've had trouble with original sculpey (the soft white stuff that sells in bulk) browning during curing? And if so what have you done or changed to keep that from happening?

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your kind compliment here!! Bless you!! And yes, I TOTALLY understand the whole thing of the Original Sculpey browning if cured too long. My suggestion here is to go with a shorter baking time. Now, I know this is not recommended among other clay artists, but it is one of the only ways I know of in which to bake this clay without it browning. So, yes there is a trade off. However, many clay artists wish for their jewelry or clay pieces to be practically "indestructible". And so they bake these pieces for long periods of time. I believe in the idea that the thinner the clay the less bake time it needs. And I usually have very thin pieces I bake, so the cure time is less. Most of the time, I bake this clay between 5-7 minutes. Recently I found even going 10 to 15 is okay. And I am able to keep the clay from turning on this time frame. And if it is backed on another solid piece of clay as I have here, there are no problems. I am not sure if I mentioned in the video, but on the one set, the clay had browned and that is why it got painted. So, even if it does turn color on you, there is always the option of painting with metallic acrylics as I did. I do hope this helps...and as always, sending you my hugs! :)
