Ever So Blue is the brainchild of Swedish, Gothenburg-based songwriter Jakob Ahlbom. Whilst the output under his real name combines a life-long passion for piano improvisation with an everlasting love for post-rock music, Ever So Blue acts as his unequivocal homage to the piano as a solo instrument.
One could say Ever So Blue is where it all begins. An origin, or inception, where simplicity meets intimacy. The beautiful melodies stemming from Jakob’s fingertips are left pure and uncluttered, with clever subtle nuances creating the perceived variations in dynamics and rhythm.
In 2019, his debut release “Fragment” achieved near overnight success as its four sonic chapters went on to amass over 6 million Spotify streams within one month.

Whilst listening to this song, I came to the realization that everything is finite. There is no such thing as infinite. The only things that even come close are our imaginations, the universe, and time itself. I realized that I only have so long left, here with my fiance. My dog in a few years will be dead, in 30 years I will be 52, my grandparents will be gone, my kids will be off getting married. My parents will be so old that I probably wouldn't recognize them now. I will be sitting in my house in my fiances arms, and her in mine, we will look back and cherish all that we had, all that we have, and all that we will have. Wars will have been fought, droughts, disease, famine, all the while I'm mowing my lawn without a thought but my finiteness, I will be looking into the clouds for that spark of infinite longing. Knowing that my time on this earth is short-lived, I am but a candle in the wind. Some day my future wife will be dead, her bones in the ground, my kids will have moved off, my parents dead, my uncles dead, my cousins dead, brothers dead. Everyone will be gone, but all that will matter is looking into those clouds whilst sitting in my chair while a kid from across the street mows my lawn because I'm too weak and frail. One day I will be gone, and my kids too. Just a long gone memory, a whisper in the summer breeze. Then maybe one day someone can open up a dusty old picture book with pictures of me, my fiance, our kids, my parents and grandparents, my dog, and hopefully they will remember who I was.

My fiance just passed away October 16th of this year really hard on me and stepdaughter I know this has no words to it but I used it as the background music of my slideshow and it will forever be synonymous with her memory now such a beautiful piece

I sometimes read through comments on videos like these, and i can really relate to all the fears that people have, because at some point, i had the same. Now i just like to listen to this song because it comforts me in a strange way. It also makes me melancholic and remembers me of good times. I know there are so much more good times on my way ahead. And there will be beautiful times on your way.
