For those running the Su-25T in it's Cyrillic glory; МРШ on the HUD stands for Enroute(ENR), ВЗВ for Return To Base(RTN) and ПОС for Landing(LNDG). I recommend downloading the flight manual for the Frogfoot for help in the Cyrillic abbreviations inside the cockpit.

Cool tip: When flying by instruments, be gentle on the control inputs. Unless there is terrain ahead or any other issue that requires quick reaction, be gentle. Thank me later.
Thanks a lot I just started playing this SIM the free version. It is a steep learning curve but really fun. Just completed the air to ground anti radiation missile mission. Was confused about how waypoint work and how to use with the realistic instrument. Got to say that I've never thought about the complexity of instrument, huge skill, and the trust captains of commercial planes have to have to guide the plane to safe land on a bad weather day. Dropping through low cloud of 150 meters and suddenly I saw the surface so close and runway is approaching so fast, for new player like me quite shocking but interesting. 😃😅
Awesome! thanks Cap, I'm new to DCS and got into it after seeing your vids. Just bought a new Hard Drive and waiting on my Saitek X52 Pro arriving to have more fun and of course lots of learning. This tutorial is brilliant as it help newbies like me out big time. Cheers.
12:30 the altitudes doesn't match, because the desired waypoint alt is a barometric alt and the real altitude on the HUD is a radar alt - if you fly over a mountain, the difference will be huge :)
Yellow lines on your VSI are showing the ideal path for smooth correction and return. That is why the line does not always match HSI indicators. They are helping you avoid overshooting. If you keep those lines in the center they will slowly guide you back on track, and enter ILS.
I've just spent the best part of today trying to get to grips with this because the in game tutorials aren't the greatest. I wish I'd watched this first!

Thank you Sir!!! Would have take me some time to figure it out by myself. The german Tutor-Voice just stoped talking and I were flying around like an Idiot. Thank you! I think flying with Su-25t is kinda good choise at first. It is and will really take skills just ot keep it tracked, and at same time the navigation systems in this are kinda basic, but still in a way that tutorials havin pilot gets some hud xperience / basics also from it. When one can fly with this fat lady, it is much easier with later on when havin not work as much to just to keep it in the air. This really is like cesna of jets, in a way that you really need to work out how throttling also gets plane nose down. Hate trimming thisone but it really is usefull skill later on! Really good choise to free jet, and free tutorials in basics of flying. Thank you for videos that are not too "slow". They are perfect when have some clue about computing and DCS own trainings. Kinda good combo for me was try crying dcs own trainers first, then watched video about the step i tried cying-> less crying in trainer. Trainer is kinda annoying, when everything HAS to go perfect. But think thats good thing at long run also... Thaks alot!
The HSI does the job in landing too. You will notice 2 white bars, one pinned to the left and one pinned to the bottom. They will move much like the ADI yellow bars and have the exact same function. Personally I prefer the HSI for landing.
The guidance bounces so much cause it doesn't take your angle of attack into consideration. Once it is level on the hud or the HSI, you need to make sure that your vertical speed is zero. That means your nose will be a few degrees higher than indicated.
I could never get the circle on the hud to work right, if I follow it, it just flys me randomly around, tried to get me to fly into the ground a few times. The adi does the same, just guides me randomly around, but the hsi works fine, guides me to the waypoints fine.
This is exactly the issue i'm having - the circle is up and down like a jack in the box. Is this normal - really struggling to hit way points because of it.
You are correct. By default, A or LAlt+6 engages the route-following autopilot mode(АУ-МАРШР) with the avionics in enroute(ENR, МРШ) or return(RTN, ВЗВ) navigation operational mode.
There is also a landing autopilot mode(АУ-ПОСАД), which engages when your avionics are in landing(LNDG, ПОС) navigation operational mode. It keeps the plane on the landing aerodrome's glide slope beacon. It can be toggled with A or LAlt+6.The mode switches off automatically after decending to 50m AGL, but you should disengage it about 100-200m AGL after gaining visual of runway.
Very nice and useful. You mentioned a list of the airports with the corresponding Way Point number (for Russian planes) - where do we find that list? And yes, it is a beast to fly and land. It is actually the only plane in DCS that has given me landing problems (landing with full load).
is there a specific command for bringing up the small circle in ILS mode? Because whenever i setup an approach like this its never there, and i have to eyeball it.
The first time i try to land this i don't know which button to open the drag chute. Tried to wheel brake, end up flip the plane and rolling on the run way :(
Love your videos. A question. How do you get the course and waypoints to show when you see the map? I cant seem to get that. I only see the location of the plane.
The reason the two numbers on the HUD altitude are so differnt I figured out is the programmed altitude is in BARO and the actual is RADAR above the ground.
Thanks man! Now I can navigate to the airfield very smoothly in the third training video. However, I only managed to land once with the tires intact. They always explode on me. Even though I’m coming in at speeds below 300 clicks. By the way, how do you turn on that flight map? When I press K it looks different and it doesn’t show my location. It would help a lot with the navigation.
Navigating with waypoints on the su-25t is very frustrating! There are times when reaching a point automatically tells you that you went too far and you have to go back to pick it up.
From what I have observed, if you are too far off the course, HSI is your friend. You can depend on the HUD only if you are already on the course and need to make altitude corrections

You have to head in a direction that has the bearing arrow (green/yellow) between your current heading and the course arrow (the white one) until they converge. Be careful to reference the right "ending" of those arrows, it's fairly easy to go the other way around (and on the HUD, when you chase the director circle, keep an eye in the distance to the waypoint to see if you are approaching the waypoint (the distance should be decreasing, it it's not, the waypoint is behind you)

The game landing tutorial is frustrating. Is there any materials online that offer landing approach sequence? The game tutorial is a joke.
@@LameGamesOfficial I found a way around the loss of voice and unable to land effectively. During the initial briefing while the guy is still talking, put the plane in autopilot mode (the one that follows waypoints (Lcrtl + 6)). If you're only interested in perfecting your landing without having to wait to go through all the waypoints like me, speed up the time with Lcrtl+z until the plane passes all the waypoints, RTN and reaches LNDG (the voice will continue this way). At LNDG, press Lshift+z to restore the normal game time. Keep the plane still in autopilot mode. Continue controlling the thrust to maintain speed but leave the altitude/keeping glideslope to the autopilot. Then about reaching the runaway threshold, disengage the autopilot with (Lctrl+9) and take full control of the landing. Another thing I've noticed is that when touching down, you can't just keep your thrust at idle like the instruction says, if you do, you will hit the runway hard and bust your wheels. So, keep adding low speed until all wheels are down. This is what works for me.
@@itunnu5103 I think the idle thrust instruction specifically refers to the instant the wheels are going touchdown. Anyways, the frog has a drag chute so if shit goes south, use it.
I have asked several times, searched endlessly on the internet as to how DCS users always have no deviations during bombing runs, plain flight whereas for me, by the time I've got some stability, I am not on target and have to go around.l have even flown 25 Km from the target area, but then I lose where it was even using the theatre map, I can never see the target on the ground until I am less than 3 Km away...all I get is 'we had to practice over and over....find out for yourself dude'...or the worst comment I get is 'find another game'............there are a large number of people who have difficulties with all sorts of things and just need some plain, simple and useful help, not 'play another game' or 'practice' - all we need is for someone to understand that not all of us are born gamers or take to it as easy as others....but we like the games we are trying to master....I never get an answer that will 'make the penny drop' for me...I have been 'practicing' for 7 months and done the training missions over and over and either the bombs miss, guided and other, plane become unstable...run out of fuel and/or weapons...all I and others like me need is someone to just 'an idiot's guide' to this...thank you for reading
Im in the same boat. Have warched caps videos and he does a great job of explainng how the weapins work and release but its the target acquisition that is the difficult part especially on lower graphics settings. What helps for me is looking at the preflight map of the target area and noticing the shape of the land if there are any stand out features that make identifying the target area any easier. Also if you are on lower graphics settings it will be really difficult to identify targets at range so you will have to chest and look at the map or switch on the names so you can see text on the terrain to guide you. I feel that the actual acquisition part of the attack run is the most difficult part I try to use the autopilot to line up especially with tv guided missiles.

Paul B cap made a vid on the su-25t weapons its called unguided bomb something along the line look in the playlist for the su 25t

Best plane for a new dcs buyer? In vr.. Hornet c?
Yeh it's the normal starting point for a new pilot
the su-25t has an IR jammer... does that even work?

How are you viewing waypoints on f10?
just click on the plane and they show if set properly
@@grimreapers yeah, was just running the ramp and nav mission for practice and tried it doesn't work, thanks for the reply will try to remember that.
@@grimreapers what does properly mean? i'm new to dcs and im not able to show waypoints in f10 map in the missions that i create my own in the mission editor... would be great to know how to do this! thx
hard to fly to many control to move..
why does it take me away from the waypoints
specifically in the mercury mission it tells me to pick WP1 if I get lost. The system takes me 180° away and then just tells me that im getting further
It seems that most of, if not all of the DCS videos have people with British speaking accents. Difficult to understand.
That's the queens English you know? 😁
you are clearly in F10 with waypoints and you hud is showing english. what is going on here? i want the same thing as you. how do you have it and we dont?
You got it to talk English, how
A lot of information, but spoken too fast. Difficult to keep up with instructions and the British accent does not help. Any thanks!
The more you listen the more you will understand the accent.
Cap, disregard my last comment I got it. thanks
Good man
Just memorize the Caucasus map, it's not that big
Tip: HUD Color Filter On/Off makes it easy to see the Hud (Rshift=`)
