What if I told you that the man who developed the Arlington National Cemetery -- resting places for so many we remember each Memorial Day was an Augusta native?
What if I told you that the man who engineered our nation's Capitol building in Washington, D.C., and supervised one of the most successful military operations in American history was born right here not too from the Savannah River?
And what if I told you that this man, a grandson of a University of Georgia president and nephew of a Georgia governor, spent most of his life spiting the South? Would you know who I was talking about?
Would you know Montgomery Meigs?

Montgomery Meigs is a hero , Robert E. Lee was a traitor . I'm glad Meigs chose Arlington , Mrs.Lee deserved it for marrying a man of such low character .
