Actually I was in a similar situation as this but it opened my eyes. My friend who is quite attractive and is popular with the ladies gets complimented a lot with looks. As a girl yes I admit he is good looking too. And I’m not exactly good looking but I’m average. I remember at a concert we went together the aunties and other people came up to him, hugged him and complimented his looks. And he plays boxing and he’s very good at it, but then the aunties came up to me and hugged me and said “oh you’re the swimming girl aren’t you? I’ve seen your races you’re very good!” I usually get complimented for my swimming skills since I do competitive swimming. I looked at my friend and said, “you are good looking but notice how a lot of people only complimented you with looks? Not your talent for boxing? Yet they didn’t care about my looks and complimented my talents and that’s the biggest difference between us.”
