By biggest hell, too me was: Dealing with the banks prior to discharge. I had a lawyer but i was still required to call the banks and get exact amounts of debt, especial on secured assets...to provide my lawyer. Most banks would keep you on hold for literally "hours" before someone would help you... One Rep even made a comment to me as "If you paid your bills, you wouldn't have to go through this"... And I was like "quit judging me beatch, I was in a car accident and you have no idea of MY SITUATION"

Thanks for the comment. Ironically I have found that many of the people who tend to judge the most are dealing with their own financial difficulties. I have always said in most cases the most difficult part of the bankruptcy is pulling together all of the information needed to submit to the court.

That's crazy. I went through one and never had to call anyone.

Bankruptcy can be very helpful but within a short amount of time thebanks are offering you all kinds of credit again. Then you could get into trouble again. I know people who have had 3 or 4 bankruptcies.

Idk if its any worse than not being able to keep up with bills. The weight is quite a burden.

It is tough - especially now days when creditors and collectors will pursue you for years.

I've heard Dave Ramsey one time that I really tried to listen to his program and get something out of it. All I got out of it was some guy tried to call him for advice said he was getting a divorce and needed to get his finances in order and Dave Ramsey in an uncharacteristically arrogant way for a Christian just berated the guy because he needs to be going to a marriage counselor save his marriage and that should be his Focus. He really didn't give him any advice at all about money he just basically made the guy seem like an ass having zero details about the marriage. As a Christian myself I believe the one thing God really hates is insanely arrogant Rich know-it-all people to flaunt their success and Christianity with the same flag waving if that makes any sense. Maybe Dave Ramsey is good at finances but I wouldn't want to be associated with anybody who has a spirit like that. I pray ihe is able to help people with the gifts God has given him without turning them away. I know myself I will never listen to that guy again.

Thanks for the comment. I really like Dave Ramsey and his program. I have literally had dinner with him at his house (story for another video). I think there are many approaches and tools to eliminating debt and there is no reason to eliminate valid choices. I do agree with him that bankruptcy is not a good way to change behavior. Unfortunately I do have repeat clients who file a chapter 7 bankruptcy and then end up filing a second bankruptcy 8 years later. The Dave Ramsey approach is awesome for changing the way we interact with money.

I’m concerned that my bank will freeze my account. Should I open a new account with a new bank before filing.

I am about to file bankruptcy. I am being sued and I will most likely lose. If I do, I will have to file Chapter 7.

A lot of people are getting sued. Seems more now after covid than I ever heard before. My mom just got sued, and I filed an answer for her. She is judgment proof, though. Well, that was for targetbof like 2,300. I was literally going to try and pay mine, but they just turned me over, and I am not judgment proof. I owe 4,818 after all the late charges and interest (ridiculous)! All my other cards are in good standing. I think they will sue me as well, but I should try, right? Bankruptcy sounds scary unless you owe a lot, right? Is there a baseline for that?

Check online at the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. You will be able to search by your zip code for an attorney in your area.

Dave Ramsey has such a black and white view of money and the way the world is changing, it’s time for him to change that perception up. Pretty much give all your money to get caught up and live like a poor person until you do but living poor while working every day is a yellow brick road right to depression. Not a fan of his. I tried to follow and as a single mom who just never can catch up and a sole provider, it’s exhausting!

My husband filed bankruptcy…is it morally correct and right..I don’t know or honestly care because there are worst things I could be doing to send my soul to eternal damnation haha 😆 The process was smooth, we kept our condo and the second we were able we sold the condo and bought a home. I think it was like 2 years later. Now it’s been like 5 years and I don’t think he has thought about it again and it hasn’t come up we have the LOWEST interest on our home so there was no issue there either. The only thing k will say is that he was never late on any of his payments so he had good credit. That may be why the process was so smooth..but I was just watching Dave say how hellish it was but I feel like he’s exaggerating or his Christians roots make him feel guilty. Idk… now to watch this video and see what this guy says about it hahah

How can banks pull notes if someone is paying on time? I've always been confused about that. When Dave tells the story I always feel like I'm missing something. Can banks still do that?

Sometimes it's not just bad behavior. Some of us have small businesses that did rather well until covid and then inflation. Can't get ahead for the life of me now. I am making all my cc payments except 1 just went to collections that would be impossible for me to have met minimum payment. I gotbto try and work that out when they sue me I guess. I tried to pay target and they said ok but I saw they turned me over a week before that so what can ya do lol.
