thank you for your genuine reviews! it's hard to find someone who goes into detail about how the product actually performs in daily use vs just focusing on specs. i'm chronically indecisive and this is helping me out a ton in my headset search lol
It's just so nice that you're so honest, transparent and real when it comes to these consumer products, and you go straight to the point with what we need.
I literally just ordered this bad boy. If it's anything close to the H6 Pro open back then I'm happy. Will be nice to lose the wire. Great review by the way. No bullshit, I love it
@muffin70507 it's a great headset. The comfort is the best I've ever used and the sound is great. You can use it wireless with the dongle on pS5 or you can use the included 3.5mm cable if you want to use it on xbox. No wireless on xbox
Dude, a warning at 9:20 -ish would have been nice. I nearly spit my drink out. The pure deadpan of your reaction was hilarious. Still watching but already a great review per usual.
lol dude that was my favorite part of editing by far. I had fully planned on just cutting that when I filmed it, but when I saw it I knew it had to stay.
Would love to know how loud the outward bleed is? Can it be heard in another room? Also will these connect to an LG tv ok via Bluetooth as well? Overall trying to reduce late night annoyance to others but am also interested in a headset I can use for gaming. I thought the mic sounded very good... your next step up sound too much in the highs (only listened on a phone speaker to be fair though) This price is around the top end I would like and am also keen audiophile wise to try open back and wireless/Bluetooth. Thanks for the review btw
I don't think complaining about the round earcup shape is bad at all. Round earcups absolutely do suck when the hole is too small, since it just mats your ear down onto your skin and it gets hot really fast, even with openback. I left the market for stuff like this a while ago when I bit the bullet and got a full audio interface. I use DT150s now, and they have the best earcups EVER. super big and are they shape of a slightly round rectangle (if that makes sense). They are closed back but they STILL don't get as hot as circular earcups do.
Yeah part of me wonders if the clamping force WAS higher if I’d dislike it even more. They’re just so loose it’s hard to firmly say “these are uncomfortable to wear for long periods.” And the DT150 earcups look awesome. Huge, oversized rectangles lol.
Thanks for the review I watched some of your older vids I’ve been using the Sennheiser Game Ones for years and have been waiting for a good enough wireless contender. Do you find there’s any game sound bleed when talking on mic in game chat? I’m also not a fan of the suspension straps lol one reason why I stayed away from steel series and audeze Maxwell other than the weight.
I didn’t experience any - and I did try to mimic some by blasting music and seeing if people could hear it through the mic. They said they could hear it. Tbh I never really have had that issue with my open back headsets, but my friends definitely did so idk what the deciding factor was.
I'm in the same boat as you, I love the sound these provide, and don't use any of the software features besides setting the mic to the "Full" preset. If the default EQ was awful, the software would be a bigger issue for me, although Dolby Atmos EQ is always an option and doesn't add the same "wind" issues that the Swarm software does. I find them super comfortable as well, and they keep my ears cool for multiple hour sessions. Great review!
Been on a buying and return spree trying to find a good headset. Im coming from a turtle beach 700 gen 2, which ive had for 3 years, and they STILL squeeze the shit out of my head lmao. These are next are on my list, hoping these finally replace those head clamps
These are definitely going to be a lot looser feeling than clamps. They have the least clamping force of all the headsets I own, but you'll have to see for yourself how they feel.
As a father and as someone who wants to hear his surroundings, these are good for the price. But man so many things that made me return it. I might try another batch and instead use the mobile app, maybe that helps. There is only one over ear wireless open back headphone and one on-ear on the market (at least europe), I hope we will see more
@MercuryTV I've been binge watching your reviews. I've got the Logitech G Pro X2. A great sound but the mic is poor (as you said in your review). I'm considering the Atlas Air because I want to experience an open back headset. Do they sound better than the Pro X2?
I thought the turtle beach mic sounded better than the hyper x on you. Other than that, I agree with everything you mentioned. Love this headset when i have to hear my surroundings. I use the phone app for the game chat mixer
Bought mine today, absolutely love it but boy I wish I could use the software. Swarm won't see my headset after it forced me to update firmware. Solid fair review, considering it's the only option for wireless open back of it's kind, i'm very happy and it could be way worse.
Loved the video! I just picked these up. I thought the mic sounded the best out of those four lol. Might be crazy. But thanks for a full REAL review! Definitely Subscribed.
@@MercuryTV I ended up buying this. It is a good choice for wireless open ear. I yell less and I can hear footsteps and guns shots well compared to my steel series.
i just got these today, and im having trouble with them, i think they sound terrible. im using on legion go, and in swarm II, my high bandwidth on/off slider button does not exist. what could be causing this?
So basically stick to the recon 700 gen 2? I have bought multiple 700s and love the bluetooth compatibility to be able to connect to a call while I'm playing . I've had horrid experiences with rigs. or any other wireless gaming headphones.
My daily headset is the Astro A50 X for a few reasons - the audio quality, the microphone quality, the game/chat mixer, and the Bluetooth integration. I don't love the weight/comfort or the price tag on it but I already own it, so I'm going to use it. But if I'm in Discord with the fellas, which I am about 80% of the time, I want good communication features and that's got them. Also the base station is super convenient for storage and charging. For a good gaming headset under 200-ish I would say: HyperX Cloud III - wireless, solid audio/mic, but no bells and whistles (no Bluetooth, no game/chat mixer) Drop PC38x - wired, open-back audio with a great microphone MIGHT recommend for some: Turtle Beach Atlas Air - wireless, open-back, but mid microphone and dogshit software Razer Blackshark V2 - wireless, solid audio (if you get the right EQ), great mic, Bluetooth, but no idea how well they will hold up over time as a daily driver.
I mean I always think the soundstage of an open-back is better than closed back but that’s just my preference. You really have to consider more than that when comparing these two. A50 X is better than the Atlas Air in almost every conceivable way but it’s a lot heavier and it costs a whole lot more.
@@MercuryTV money aside for my situation would the A50x help me hear Footsteps better? Also is the sound on them better for other games compared to the Atlas Airs?
I returned heavy maxwell and got these. Very comfy although my head is a bit too big. I had to make the elastic band very loose or remove it. One quesiton about earpads rotation. How is the big L and R oriented? straight with the headband or rotated? I just didn't install the wave audio driver and nothing enables by default..... but without it, I cannot control volume in-game. The volume wheel just doesnt do anything unless I alt-tab
also, i swear every goddamn 2 minutes i keep hearing, "wireless mode." They keep fkn disconnecting randomly. and while playing Hell Let Loose, the sound blows out during explosions. wth is wrong with these?
@@MercuryTV Heard nothing but praise for them but the weight and closed back design for that price aren’t my cup of tea. I do recognise Audeze’s value in the audio space though and they’ll definitely add even more to the gaming audio space down the line.
I sent this back, i bought mine at launch, and boy, oh boy, was there a lot of bugs! Mine were so quiet at full blast that i couldn't use them for fps. I guess they did firmware updates. They also had this bug where there was this weird usb error and said it wasn't connected when trying to do firmware updates. The mics on these new turtlebeach headsets are ass! No simultaneous bluetooth is a joke in 2024, i knew this going in but soon annoyed me. By the way, if you want another simultaneous headset that is light and sounds great the Asus Delta 2 wireless is pretty damn good!
@@MercuryTV if you are looking for a new simultaneous headset give the Asus Delta 2 wireless a shot, Bluetooth works great. I also got the stealth 700 gen 3 today, not great headband padding and over 400g, don't really like the clamp force either and the mic is exactly like the atlas. @MercuryTV did ever have a lower volume issue? Like hearing footsteps, vs closed backs? I just couldn't hear footsteps that well. Is that just part of the nature of open backs?
