@wWSwiftyWw I think it is strongly influenced by the Elvis song Blue Suede Shoes - we see blue with a word that is very similar to suede, and we make it what we are familiar with.
Oh Lord, mayor flashback to 1973! Bjorn Skifs is the singer, very talented guy who has been in swedish movies, comedyshows, musicals etc etc, still with us and an allround great person :)

Man, I remember riding in my sister's Plymouth Duster when I was a kid (she's 8 years older than me), the windows rolled down and her flying down the road at breakneck speed when this came on the radio, lol. I had to have been 7 or 8 at that time and she listened to THE best music, which in turn, was instilled in me. At 62, I still roll down the windows when this and other "special" music comes on while I'm driving. Music like this is A Memory for my peers. Glad I still get to enjoy it and see youngsters turned on to the music of my people!
This is a great cover of BJ Thomas' Hooked on a Feeling. This was 74. BJ released his in 68. This is one of those songs that instantly gets you moving. I'd also check out BJs Raindrops keep falling on my Head
@@BlackPegasusRaps The ooga-chaka wasn't even Blue Swedes invention, it came from another cover, by Jonathan King. Blue Swede is the English name for a Swedish band called Blåblus, that name is a spin on the same thing as blue collar in English, but also a play on the words blue (blå) and blues.

Blue Swede - Björn Skifs, born in 1947, is a legend is Sweden. He's multi talented. He's an awesome singer and performer, he's very funny and has been an actor in lot's of swedish TV-shows and movies. He was the first swede to ever hit no. 1 in the U.S. with this song. He may be seen as a One Hit Wonder in the U.S., but here in Sweden he's had a long and very successfull career!
I'm glad that the first time I heard all of these hits through my many decades of life was NOT through movies but when they were first heard on the radio-puts every song in its proper perspective.
I was maybe a bit luckier that most of these great songs I first heard on home stereos played by relatives and friends who knew a guy or who went to a show, and then got the 45 or album. I heard this one first in a dark basement room half filled by 2 Klipsch Horn speakers (5ft tall) played at arena volume the week the record came out. I also heard Mungo Jerry sing of "Jeremiah having a bullfrog" in the same place...
So much fun watching you enjoying our old music. Now you know why we think our music is the best. We were introduced to every kinds of music unlike people today who only listen to Rap, country, or whatever.
1968 Mark James tune covered by BJ Thomas. That was a big hit. 1971 UK Singer/Songwriter/Label owner Jonathan King cover, King started his version with the Ooga Chogga. 1974 Swedish group Blue Swede covered the tune with King's Ooga Chogga intro. Mark James' tune has been covered many times around the world. Even David Hasslehoff.
