I love their albums Under A Godless Veil and A Rose For The Apocalypse. Their music is otherworldly. I don't know of any other band that makes me feel what Draconian does. The despair and the happiness. The perfect blend of the two voices, lyrics, the atmosphere... They're excellent. Their previous vocalist Lisa Johansson was out of the band for a while and then she got back not that long ago, which is rather unseen in this industry. And I'm a bit conflicted, because I love her and also Heike Langhans (you can hear her on this song and a little fun fact; we have the same birth date). Thank you for reminding me this band exists cause I haven't listened to them in a while.
Oh and before you ask, check out the live version of Sleepwalkers from Hellfest 2022. It's a duet version with both Heike and Lisa. It was a special farewell set.

Hi there, I'm so happy you enjoyed this! Draconian is from Sweden, they have seven studio albums. The clean singer in this song, Heike Langhans, is from South Africa and she left the band two years ago. I know I have mentioned her other project Remina, now you should really check it out. Heike sings on the Draconian albums Sovran and Under a Godless Veil, I recommend the songs The Sethian and The Wretched Tide. I don't know if she's an Alanis fan, but it wouldn't surprise me. I also highly recommend Trees of Eternity, with the late Aleah Stanbridge on vocals. Taken from us too soon. She had a similar ethereal and floaty voice. Their only album, Hour of the Nightingale, is a beautiful doom metal masterpiece, but it's also hard to listen to. Prior to Heike, the clean vocalist in Draconian was Lisa Johansson, she has now rejoined the band and is expected to sing on the next record, whenever that comes. Some of my favourite songs with her are A Phantom Dissonance, Morphine Cloud, The Last Hour of Ancient Sunlight. She has a slightly different voice, but still high and clear. The album Turning Season Within from 2008 is my favourite Draconian album. Hope that wasn't too much of an info dump 😅
Honestly, I loved them so much, I went and downloaded all of their albums. I have not fully listened/digested them. My home server creates a playlist for each band similar to Spotify. I have enjoyed that a few times. I do need to take some time out and digest each album. This band was such a great surprise for me. Thank you for suggesting them to me 🤘

I don't even remember how I discovered them, I would have been like 16-17, but I'm always happy when someone loves them, they're pretty great. Funny enough, I used to follow Heike on DeviantArt back in the day, even before she became their vocalist.
I love Heike’s voice! I am definitely going to have to check out more from her. It’s funny in the comments it was just stated that Death Doom shouldn’t make me happy. I know that was a joke, but it is funny how much I am drawn to really depressing music, especially because I am typically upbeat and happy in general. I have literally created playlists of my most depressing songs. I am sure this band will have some added to the list. I can’t wait!
I don’t think doom is supposed to make you feel happy 😆. Love Draconian, Saw them live at a festival 2022 and I think ”Heikes songs” sounds just as good with Lisa singing.
